WHEN YOU’RE BUYING OR SELLING PROPERT Y . . . IT HAS TO BE BSPC
BSPC People . . . who’s in-house? Each issue we get to know a BSPC professional from one of BSPC’s member firms and this week we are speaking to - Emma Lowans from Melrose & Porteous Tell us about your role within Melrose & Porteous? I work as assistant to our Property Manager, Debbie Scott. I am based in the Property Shop in our Duns office and deal with day to day enquiries by email, on the phone and in person and also carry out property viewings.
How long have you worked with the firm? I have worked for Melrose and Porteous for 10 years, apart from a gap in the middle when I moved to the Cayman Islands for a few years.
What do you enjoy most about your job? I enjoy speaking to different people and trying to match them up with a property which meets their needs and requirements.
What keeps you busy when you’re not at the office? I have a 4 year old boy who keeps me busy when I’m not working. During the weekend, I love family days away. I also enjoy running and reading.
Tell us about your home or dream home? I like my home to be warm and welcoming with a real homely feel. If I could build my dream home, I would have a huge kitchen with a family area which would be the hub of the house.
What would be your ideal holiday? Where’s your favourite place in the Borders? I enjoy taking my little boy for a walk around Duns Castle. It is very peaceful and we love feeding all the ducks. I also like a trip to Eyemouth for a walk and an ice cream.
Name two things you can’t live without? My family and my mobile phone.
Anywhere with sun, a beach and a nice bar serving cocktails.
What’s your greatest achievement? Watching my little boy growing up to become such a happy and confident individual – he is definitely my biggest achievement.
What’s your favourite Borders eatery? I love the Siamese Kitchen in Duns: their Thai green curry is amazing and the staff very friendly.
Who is your favourite author/ artist or designer? I love all kinds of books but really enjoy books written by local author Lisa J Hobman.
What’s playing in your car right now? Radio Borders is usually on. What natural talent would you like to have? I love music so would like to have the ability to sing.
