The Atlantis is a 5-star luxury hotel situated on the world’s largest man-made island, Palm Jumeirah. It offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai skyline. Arrivals When you arrive in Dubai, you will need to present your previously received E-visa at the immigration counter. Some visitors may be asked to do an eye scan at random. Once you pass through immigration and receive a passport stamp, you may proceed to the luggage belts to collect your baggage and walk outside the terminal. Your pick up will be waiting at the arrival gate of the airport holding a sign with “Oriflame Group” written on it. Hotel check-in is at 15:00 and check-out is at 12:00. If you arrive early you may store your luggage inside the hotel and use all of the facilities (health club, beach, pool, changing rooms, Aquaventure and The Lost Chambers). Early arrivers will also be able to enjoy breakfast at the hotel. The conference team will be available to assist you and help you get settled in. The first day of the conference is a time for you to relax. Take this chance as the next five days will be filled with lots of excitement and fun!

Dubai Mall Opened in November 2008, the Dubai Mall is the world’s largest retail mall. It packs an Olympic-size ice rink, a huge

aquarium and an underwater zoo, several indoor amusement parks and 1200 stores. Even if you are on a strict budget, a trip to this immense shopping centre is not to be missed. Ski Dubai is an indoor winter wonderland located inside the Mall of the Emirates.There are five ski runs (the longest is 400m), a small sledding hill and a freestyle area with jumps. The conditions are ideal with temperatures maintained at a comfortable -2 degrees. Rental equipment and clothing are included in the ticket price. A full-day adult ski pass costs AED 300.

Discover the wonders and mysteries of marine life at the world’s largest aquarium. Set at the heart of the Dubai Mall, this massive aquarium holds 10 million litres of water and features over 30,000 maritime creatures! We will visit today the City of Abu Dhabi, the capital of United Arab Emirates. Much of the city lies on an Island and was a home of the Baniyas Tribe in 1761, being an island it offered security as well as excellent grazing, fishing and water supplies. The discovery of oil in 1958 led the city to a dramatic change into one of the most modern and sophisticated cosmopolitan cities in the Middle East.

The tour starts with a visit to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque which is the 8th largest mosque in the world. It has the world’s largest hand stitched carpet and largest Chandelier among its other accolades. We also pass by the road with all the palaces of the Sheikhs and after a quick stop at the Emirates Palace (A complete wonder of modern architecture) we head to the Abu Dhabi heritage Village to get a great taste of this destination’s history and culture.

It is set to be the largest indoor theme park, sitting under a roof designed in the style of the classic double curve body shell of a Ferrari GT car.There are over 20 rides and attractions at the park ensuring there is enough fast paced action and excitement to satisfy every guest.

No trip to Dubai would be complete without experiencing the fun and excitement the desert has to offer. We can tailor make a desert excursion packed with exciting activities. Time

Dubai is in the Gulf Standard Time (GST) zone and is GMT +4.

Climate

Dubai has a sub-tropical, arid climate. August in Dubai is very hot, humid and dry.Temperatures range from a low of about 30°C to a high of 48°C.

Clothing

Lightweight summer clothing is recommended for most of the year. Dubai has a very relaxed dress code, however most restaurants require smart casual with no opentoed shoes. Care should be taken not to give offence by wearing clothing that could be considered too provocative or revealing. A brimmed hat and sunglasses of good quality are advised to protect yourself when in direct sunlight.

Language

The official language is Arabic, but English is widely spoken and understood. Both languages are commonly used in commerce and trade.

Water

Due to the high temperatures in Dubai, it’s important to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Tap water is quite safe to drink, but visitors usually prefer bottled water.

Dubai Laws

RULES OF CONDUCT

Dubai is a very liberal city, however it pays to remember that you are visiting an Islamic country. It would be wise not to take these laws lightly as you could face fines or imprisonment if someone takes offence and reports you.

APPROPRIATE CLOTHING

In most public areas shorts and skirts should be of appropriate length. This means that knees and shoulders should be covered. Clothing should not indecently expose parts

of the body, be transparent, or display obscene or offensive pictures and slogans. If you are deemed to be inappropriately dressed in a shopping mall you may be requested to leave.

ALCOHOL

Alcohol is available in the hotel’s restaurants and bars. However, restaurants outside the hotel are not permitted to serve alcoholic beverages. Public intoxication is subject to fines or imprisonment. SMOKING Smoking is prohibited in public buildings, malls and shops. Smoking outside designated areas is subject to fines.

DISPLAY OF AFFECTION

Displays of affection in public places do not sit well with the local culture. Holding hands for a married couple is tolerated, but kissing and petting are considered as offensive to public decency. Public displays of affection are liable to be punished by a warning or fine and in some cases may lead to imprisonment or deportation.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Tourist photography is allowed, but it is considered offensive to photograph Muslim women and families. It is also a good idea to ask before photographing men. Photographs of government and military buildings should not be taken.

VULGARITY

Swearing, profanities, and all kinds of vulgar language are strictly forbidden in Dubai. All types of aggressive or offensive gestures are considered offensive and liable to fines or imprisonment.

DRUGS

Drugs are forbidden in the strictest terms. If you are caught in possession you could be sent to prison for up to seven years and then deported. Anyone caught smuggling drugs into Dubai are looking at a possible life sentence.

Getting Around Dubai offers visitors traditional Arabic hospitality together with an unparalleled service industry. The excellent infrastructure allows for easy and affordable transport around the city.

Business Hours

The weekend has traditionally been Thursday afternoon and Friday, although some organizations now close on Friday and Saturday, working through Thursday afternoon instead. Shop hours are similar in their opening times, but most shops remain open until 9.00–10.00pm. Department stores, souqs and many eateries remain open on a Friday, apart from prayer times (between 11.30am and 1.30pm), while larger shops re-open on Friday afternoon around 4.00–5.00pm.

Currency

The monetary unit is the dirham (DHS or AED) which is divided into 100 fils. The dirham is linked to the Special Drawing Right of the International Monetary Fund. It has been held constant against the US dollar since the end of 1980 at a mid-rate of approximately US $1.00 = Dh 3.67.

ATMs

ATMs or ‘cash points’ are very common in Dubai and can be found throughout the city and inside hotels.

Tipping

There is no rule that says you must tip in Dubai, however it is deemed good practice by most. Restaurants and bars often include a service charge of between 10% and 15%. It is common to tip taxi drivers by rounding up to the nearest AED 5.

Taxis

Despite all the modern modes of transport, taxis are still the most popular and convenient way to get around Dubai. The beige-coloured Dubai cab can be spotted almost everywhere. There is a minimum spend in each cab of 10 dirhams. Remember, paying with small notes or exact change is highly appreciated. Most taxi drivers are friends and speak enough English to get you where you want.

Credit Cards

All major credit cards and debit cards (American Express, Diners Club, Visa, MasterCard, etc.) are widely accepted in most hotels and larger stores. Most Souqs accept only cash, while a few accept credit cards too.

Buses

Buses are rarely used by tourists and it is advised to travel around the city by taxi or metro. However, for a good hop on – hop off, type of tour try the Big Bus Company. It runs two routes; the blue route through Jumeirah, and the red route through the older parts of Dubai. One ticket costs AED 175 and covers 24 hours of riding.

Metro

The world’s longest and most advanced driverless metro system. Opened in 2009, the Dubai Metro spans an astounding 75 km, operates 43 stations. The metro travels at an average speed of 45km per hour and serves around 1.2 million passengers every day. Tickets range from 2 dirham to 6.50 dirhams and can be bought at any station. Trains run from 6am to 11pm, Saturday to Thursday and from 2pm to midnight on Fridays
