GET IT NOW!By HeatherMarieMy daughter is not a reader. I told her that if she found just one book that it would open the flood gate and she would be a reading monster. Well, it happened!!! I am so proud and excited!!! She has earned money for this series, every single book except for the first one which I found at a local retail store. I read the description and took a chance. I bought it and she read it in less than 5 days!!! This was her first novel that she has read!!! She earned money for the rest. She is waiting on the forth book

now. She went from never reading to reading each one of these in 5 days a piece. She almost cried when she thought the third was the last one. I highly suggest this whole series to anyone!!! I am getting ready to ready them all myself! Thanks to the author, many wishes to you and I hope my books will be great like yours!7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Better than the firstBy JessawaI really enjoyed Jessica Verday's book The Haunted. Her first book of the series was OK. I loved the sleepy hollow theme and the characters were OK so I decided to go for book 2.Much better! The thing that made me like this book the most are the characters. Abbey and Caspian are both much stronger more likable characters. As Abbey returns home to Sleepy Hollow their relationship definitely blossoms throughout the book to something more intense. Abbey's friendship with Ben also goes through some changes. I don't feel like much was really accomplished plot wise until the last couple of chapters but I enjoyed the writing and dialogue between Abbey and all of the other characters so much that I didn't seem to mind. The last few chapters give you a preview into what book 3 will be about and it sets up book three nicely. I really enjoyed this book and am now eagerly awaiting what Verday comes up with next.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Not a Hollow storyBy twilighter9763In this second installment of Verdays series we meet back up with Abby having spent her last Semester of her Junior year, at her Great Aunt Margories house. She is still not sure whether or not Caspian is a figment of her imagination or not. When Caspian shows up again, after her birthday party, she decides it doesnt matter. This story gives you plenty of Mystery with a splash of romance thrown in here and there.I wouldnt necessarily say that this is strictly a romance novel but for those that have an adversion to the gushier Love stories, it is the perfect pairing of both worlds.Though the stories plot line builds rather slowly, you continue to read on, waiting for the "AHA" moment to arrive. It does keep you enthralled even though many of the situations in the book give off more of an "every day life " type of atmosphere.Abby seems to sleep a lot, her mother is a selfish snot so the only life Abby really has is visiting the cemetary to visit the three main characters...Katy, Nicholas, and of course. Her beloved Caspian.Over all the writing is very descriptive which helps you to picture every thing that is happening.I would say that if the story had a little more romance and a lot more action, the writing would give way to a phenomenal book.I gave this second installment five stars because I feel that even though ,at times, it is hard to feel what the characters are feeling, the plot is well thought out and starts to really take on direction. I am definately curious to see what will happen with Caspian and Abby, and now that Vincent's roll in Kristen's death has been revealed i am looking forward to finding out how this story will end. An impossible truth. An impossible love. After a summer spent reclaiming her sanity and trying to forget the boy she fell in love with--the boy who must not exist, cannot exist, because she knows that he is dead--Abbey returns to Sleepy Hollow, ready to leave the ghosts of her past behind. She throws herself into her schoolwork, her perfume-making, and her friendship with Ben, her cute and funny lab partner, who just might be her ticket to getting over Caspian once and for all. But Abbey can never get over Caspian, and Caspian has no choice but to return to her side, for Caspian is a Shade, and Abbey is his destiny. They are tied not only to each other, but also to the town of Sleepy Hollow, and to the famous legend that binds their fates--a legend whose dark truths they are only beginning to guess....Spectacular! The Hollow keeps you reading from beginning to end without coming up for air. --L.J. Smith, bestselling author of The Vampire Diaries and Night World From BooklistThis darker follow-up to The Hollow (2009) opens with 17-year-old Abbey Browning still mourning the death of her best friend, Kristen, and reeling from the discovery that her boyfriend, Caspian, is actually a ghost. Abbey initially resists Caspian, whose otherworldly status can only cause heartbreak; but as Abbey and Caspian fall deeper in love, they uncover Kristens murderer and learn the true meaning of soul mates. Verday deviates from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which she ambitiously tried to integrate into the first book, to introduce some sinister new characters who heighten the suspense of this drawn-out sequel. Grades 8-11. --Kimberly Garnick "...Verday manages to provide readers with a different take on paranormal romance in a market flooded with vampires and werewolves. With the raw attraction heating up between Abbey and Caspian as their romance develops and the mystery surrounding Kristin's murder, this book is the epitome of the guilty pleasure." -Children's LiteratureFrom the Back Cover
