Down the Road is one of those MUST readsBy K STim Travis is

living his dream, something most of us only talk about. His story takes off from his first book without skipping a beat, and is written in such a way that you honestly feel as if you're right there with him. I could experience all of those adventures without leaving the comfort of my chair. Over his years of bicycle travel, he has honed the details into not only a fascinating true story, but also useful information for anyone else desiring to do the same thing. I have his third book burning a hole in my Kindle, raring to be read. Buy all 3!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great adventure bookBy Trevor LanhamThe book is great. I read the book in about three hours. I couldn't put the book down. I would have given it a 5 star but I felt like the author skipped right over their travels in chile. I know that Chile is known for some great cycling but this book doesn't have a lot written about their time in Chile. Other than that I loved the book. Now I want to go to South America and go cycling. I recommend the book.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wonderfully written.By BrettOnce I started reading this book I could not put it down. After reading this book I now am starting to plan my first two bicycle tours this summer. If you are interested in Bike touring I sugest reading this book. I plan on buying the other two books by this author and researching there web site [...] Tim and Cindie's around the world bicycle touring adventures continues in this second book about exploring South America. This part of the journey was even more challenging with the highest mountains, coldest nights, and the most dangerous situations yet. About the AuthorTim Travis has been everything from a bicycle mechanic to a Special Education Teacher with a Masters degree. Cindie Travis worked as a geologist prior to the start of their epic adventures. Tim started riding bicycles in the mid-1970s with a Campy five-speed bike, wool shorts and one of those funny leather helmets that cyclists wore back then. The bicycle racing movie, Breaking Away, hit the theaters and he quickly fell into racing. He was immersed in racing until he graduated from Indiana University in 1991 with a bachelors degree in Physical Education. Cindie rode a bike during college and started riding again when she met Tim. They did one of their first tours on their honeymoon and Cindie was hooked on bicycle touring ever since. Tim enjoys spending his days living international bike touring adventures and nights writing about them in his tent. Cindie loves the simplicity and challenge of life on the road.
