Bonzy Charities supports the needs of children from low- and moderate-income families through programs Bonzy develops in working with schools. These programs promote childhood literacy through the publication and distribution of books. Bonzy also provides new winter coats to students at their schools which directly impacts the health and well-being of children and improves their days of attendance. Bonzy distributes illustrated children’s books to elementary schools authored by Doug. Banks, corporations, and foundations fund the books through charitable donations. The books address childhood literacy – specifically personal financial literacy. Volunteers read to students in their classrooms and then every student receives a copy of the book to take home for their personal library. Bonzy, through partnerships with corporations and foundations, keeps children warm with new winter coats. As a community partner with Operation Warm, Bonzy purchases coats and works with school districts and companies in the coordination of Coat Days. On a Coat Day, company volunteers assist children at elementary schools throughout a community select their new winter coats. Every student at those elementary schools receives a new winter coat. Many of these children had been coming to school on the coldest days of winter in sweatshirts or thin fleeces.
