WHO WE ARE: Prestige Underwriting Services Limited (PUSL), a subsidiary of Prestige Insurance Holdings Limited, has been trading since 1997 in Northern Ireland. Our presence in the UK mainland began in 2002. We are an underwriting agency appointed by leading insurers for the purpose of selling, arranging, administering and servicing household business specialising in non-standard underwriting. We operate in the niche non-standard household market through a select number of brokers and intermediaries. We are passionate about what we do and we are the longest established non-standard home underwriter. Our agile business model gives us the capability to swiftly develop and deliver products that meet the needs of our customers. We have a successful track record of delivering a flexible, efficient and excellent level of service across all sectors of our business for customers and partners. We continue to review our trading methods to ensure we target and deliver profitable business for all. Our teams of underwriters based in Belfast and Basildon have a wealth of knowledge and experience in their field and deal with transactions via various platforms which include Cover.Net, TGSL, CDL, SSP and Open GI. Our strategy is to write non-standard home risks on panels where we can support similar propositions to our own, offering solutions for customers with unusual and potentially riskier properties. The product, as its name suggests, will insure most standard and non-standard homes and properties, whether the property itself is unusual or the risk criteria makes it difficult to place in the open market. There are many reasons why a property might need to be left empty for a period of time. We have developed a flexible offering to assist in a wide range of circumstances. Whether a property is being renovated, is up for sale or is between tenancies we are able to help. We are also able to offer cover for Executors or those with Power of Attorney.
We are able to offer cover for a wide range of constructions, including but not limited to; steel and timber framed properties, eco homes, flat roofs, properties in conservation areas, wattle and daub, properties with shingle roofs, and noncombustible pre-fabricated homes. Converted properties are also something which we will happily look at quoting, for example Barn Conversions.
We can offer 3 different levels of cover and also have the added flexibility of being able to continue cover under the same policy should the occupancy of the property change.
Properties affected by Subsidence
Properties undergoing Renovation
Properties which have been affected by Subsidence can prove difficult to insure. We will apply no terms in respect of remedial works which have been completed outside of the last 10 years. For anything within the last 10 years, our experienced team will work with you to understand what documentation the client has available and use that to provide a quick turnaround and offer competitive terms.
From building a double storey extension to having the lounge painted we are able to provide cover for properties undergoing a wide range of building works. Our flexible approach means that we only need to be made aware of larger scale renovations. We will also offer cover where a property is going to be unoccupied for the duration of the works.
Bed and Breakfast Accommodation
We are able to offer cover for clients who have an unspent Criminal Conviction. We will work with you to understand the circumstances and use our expertise to offer a sensible rate on an individual basis.
We can provide cover for Bed and Breakfasts of up to 3 bedrooms. We are also happy to offer Accidental Damage cover for both Buildings and Contents.
Properties at which Business Use is undertaken
Let Properties We can quote for single properties or multi property portfolio which are let either to Professional or DSS Tenants. Accidental Damage cover can be offered as can cover for Landlordâ€™s fixtures and fittings.
Where a client is using part of their property for Business Use we will be understanding of the fact that this may see them have a large number of visitors to the property. We are also happy to consider cover where the proposer has employees based at the risk address in addition to keeping either stock or business equipment on the premises.
We are also happy to provide cover for properties being let out on a short term basis, e.g. for a major sporting event or via a company such as Air B&B.
Adverse Claims Experience
Previous Insurance Cancelled/Declined or Voided
We donâ€™t believe in not quoting simply because somebody has been unfortunate enough to need to claim on multiple occasions. Instead we will take the time to understand the circumstances along with any preventative action which may have since been taken.
We are mindful of the fact that from time to time customers will for a number of reasons have a policy cancelled or voided. We will always be keen to understand the circumstances surrounding this and quote and apply terms accordingly.
Lodgers and Paying Guests
We are able to provide cover for Holiday Homes, both which are used for private use and those which are let out on a commercial basis. Accidental Damage cover can be offered under both the Buildings and Contents section.
Our Coverall product will automatically quote for up to 5 lodgers whilst our team of Underwriters can consider more upon referral. Accidental Damage can also be offered.
