Welcome to Community Learning at Bolton College What do you want to learn?

Courses aim to: • Boost your confidence • Get you back into learning • Help you brush up on key skills • Develop skills for employment • Support you to get a qualification

If you are a new learner, our friendly team will help you take that all-important first step back into learning. If you are a returning learner, we can offer you information and impartial advice on how you can progress further in College or help you find out about other wider opportunities in the area.

These events give you a chance to meet the team, talk to a careers advisor and look round our Community Learning Centres. You can also find out more about our courses, take part in activities, meet other learners and the teachers. They are free to attend and run throughout the year.

There is no need to book - just call in! The National Careers Service attend these events, providing impartial advice and guidance about searching for job opportunities, making career choices, improving skills and CV writing. You can make a personal appointment for careers advice following on from these events.

Family Learning Brush up on your own skills and knowledge to support your children! Family learning is for mums, dads, grandparents and other adults involved in looking after children in Bolton. Almost 70% of parents say that they are not confident enough in English or maths to help their children with their homework! Family Learning gives parents the chance to spend time learning alongside their child in school, update their knowledge and learn about today's curriculum in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The programme covers nursery level to key stage two.

Free courses are delivered in primary schools across Bolton. Wider Family Learning events are also delivered at Bolton Museum and Library. • Find out about how children are taught literacy and numeracy in schools today • Build skills, knowledge and confidence to help children with their learning and homework • Have fun learning together • Gain ideas and make resources to support play and learning at home For more information, email communitylearning@boltoncc.ac.uk

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Learn how to prepare and cook meat, fish, vegetables, soups, desserts and sauces, all within the confines of our amazing production kitchens and training restaurant. Motor vehicle experts are always in high demand. Learn how vehicles are constructed and how to carry out routine maintenance, all within our £4.3 million STEM Centre. If you’re new to the UK and don’t have the level of English required to progress into mainstream provision, this programme will improve your English speaking, reading and writing skills.
