HALLO! We're stoked that you'll be joining us this August on our voyage through the Fjords of Norway. This insane, world famous landscape was formed by the last Ice Age, and we're lucky enough to get to explore it by boat. Pulling up to any dock we choose, we'll discover ancient viking ruins, eat Røkt Laks (aka smoked salmon), drink Aquavit, and meet some rad Bolt members and locals!
Our boat sets sail in Tromsø, Norway on Friday, Aug 24th. Boats leave the dock at 6:30pm. Our experience ends on Friday, August 31st in Lofoten, Norway at 10am. Be sure to book a flight out of Leknes (LKN) or Svolvaer (SVJ) airport anytime after 1pm. If you have the flexibility, we recommend checking out a nearby destination -- Bergen, Oslo, and other Norweigan cities are a short flight away!
OUR (ROUGH) ITINERARY Day 1
Tromsø → Ryøya We set sail from Tromsø, the largest city in northern Norway, nicknamed "Paris of the North."
Ryøya → Hamn Spend the afternoon exploring Hamn, an old trading post on the island of Senja.
Hamn → Sortland Explore Sortland and its many shops. It's known as the Blue city, because one of the local artists attempted to paint the entire city blue.
Sortland → Trollfjord The natural beauty of Trollfjord is legendary. Here's a day to get out your camera! Today we will also visit the fishing village of Skrova.
Skrova → Nusfjord → Reine Nusfjord is one of Norway's oldest and best-preserved villages, known for its unique wooden buildings. From there we'll sail to Reine, a small fishing village linked together by bridges.
Reine → Henningsvær Henningsvær has a rich history that dates back 2,000 years ago, and more recently, the 1700s.
Henningsvær → Svolvær Svolvær is a charming city with a famous mountain peak called Svolvaergeita. It has tons of little shops and restaurants. We'll stay docked here for the evening, so there's lots of time to explore.
Svolvær → End Wake up on the boat at Svolvaer, and say our goodbyes. Depart for the airport anytime after 10pm.

NORWAY'S HISTORY The Fjords The stunning landscapes of Fjord Norway were created by a succession of ice ages. Over a period of 2.5 million years, the U-shaped valleys were carved out of the ground during a succession of glacial cycles. The Vikings Fjord Norway has a rich historical heritage and many visible traces of the Vikings, who ruled the country for an era between AD 800 to 1066. The Vikings have a bad reputation as raiders, but they were also traders, explorers and settlers, and the legacy from the Viking Age lives on. Their seaworthiness and impulsiveness led to the development of new areas along the Norwegian coast, westward to Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Shetland, Orkney, Scotland, Ireland and Greenland. The Norwegian Vikings also discovered Vinland, present-day America, long before Columbus. The Sami people The Sami are the indigenous people of Norway. Known for their colorful clothes and the huge herds of reindeer they look after, the Sami have been living in northern Scandinavia for over 10,000 years, The northern lights The northern lights are a common natural phenomenon in Norway, and are most commonly observed above the Arctic Circle between late autumn and early spring. While it's not guaranteed that we will see them on our trip in late August, it's definitely a possibility, so keep your eyes peeled!
