“Ons wil graag buurtwagte vestig in elke area.

“Dus is vanaand se gebaar vir my baie mooi.

Visagie is self visueel gestremd. Sy het haar mees-

tergraad onder dr. Helene Loxton gedoen. Sy sal in 2013 by ’n universiteit in Amerika met haar doktorale studies begin.

YETHU Crèche in Kayamandi takes care of 36 lively children from the ages of one to six years old. With limited funds and support, the crèche not only cares for the children, but feeds them to the best of its ability too. Housed in a small room, without heating and with very little for the kids to play with, crèche manager Zoleka Selela’s task is by no means an easy one. Yethu Crèche is one of the new facilities that will, however, be receiving gifts from the 2012 Santa Shoebox project. These 36 children form part of the over 4 000 children from 46 facilities in the Stellenbosch and Winelands areas who have been registered with the Santa Shoebox Project this year. The Santa Shoebox Project is a non-profit organisation that has been working to collect gifts at Christmas time for thousands of underprivileged children since 2006. Parents are encouraged to involve their children, who personally choose and fill gift boxes and then decorate and label each one with the recipient’s name. Uniquely, the donor knows the name, age, gender and care institution of the child the gift was bought for. The Santa Shoebox project not only manages the network and distributes the gifts, but also provides content guidelines for each individual gift box. With the project’s drop-off dates in Stellenbosch at the NG Church Welgelegen set for 23 to 25 October, the organisers want

The League leading Kayamandi H.S. remained undefeated at the end of the day. They got the better of the Paarl School of Skills (55-21) and then trumped Groendal Secondary School with a victory of 69-10. The team head into the last week of league action with a important challenge facing them in the form of the other undefeated team in Franschhoek High School. The finals will be played in October.
