WHOLESOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Tia van Wyk, a Grade 7 pupil at Loreto Primary School in Strand feeds porridge to Urine Maarman from Sir Lowry’s Pass Village. The pupils and a teacher, Beth Forbes, visited the Under His Wings organisation as part of their community outreach programme. Under His Wings, which is run by Pearl Stryders, also has a feeding scheme in Sir Lowry’s Pass where more than 400 children, from toddlers to high school pupils, can enjoy breakfast and lunch daily.

Stock up on electricity The City of Cape Town’s pre-paid electricity vending system will be shut down for essential maintenance between 21:00 on Wednesday 6 November and 05:00 on Thursday 7 November. This shutdown will disable all vending systems and will therefore also affect all purchases of electricity. Consumers who fall within the City’s supply areas will not be able to purchase pre-paid electricity units during these hours. Residents who are directly supplied by Eskom will however not be

affected. The City apologised for the inconvenience. “Due to unforeseen circumstances during the original upgrade, the required work could not be completed within the allotted time.” Consumers are encouraged to purchase the necessary electricity units beforehand to avoid any hassles. Should residents wish to be updated on the progress of the upgrade, they are welcome to contact the Electricity Technical Operations Centre on 0860 103 089, or SMS 31220.
