BMS is proud to present the 14th edition of the Western Select Limousin Sale. This offering represents over 30 opportunities from 11 reputation programs from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

You will find the tradition continues with a deep selection of bred heifers, a unique pregnant recip, a super set of calendar year heifers and also a long yearling bull that was the Grand Champion Limo at the recent Brandon AgEx.

The fall of 2025 has marked so many record breaking cattle returns and with that the majority of cow/calf producers have adequate feed supplies and the beef futures continue to look optomistic.

Western Select has returned to the DLMS Farmgate format. Please reach out to the BMS crew for your inquiries. We will handle each call in a professional manner.

How to participate in the DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auction with Extended Bidding:

Wednesday, December 10 - 9 AM MST - bidding begins

Thursday, December 11 - 7 PM MST - auction closes farmgate style

1. Visit https://farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to sign up for a free user account and it allows you to select a user name and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.

2. You can choose your favorite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Anytime there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if someone else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maxiumum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will not longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minutes if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after 7 PM MST will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Within 24 hours of the sale close the Sale Manager, Bohrson Marketing Services will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and deliver/pickup of your lot.

If you require assistance with using the DLMS Farm Gate website, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list, if you can’t figure out the proxy bid or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team or Sale Consignors.

WHAT IS RACEHORSE STYLE SALE CLOSE? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone into extended bidding.

HOW WILL EXTENDED BIDDING WORK? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and gives all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

If you require assistance with the Racehorse auction process or bidding via phone talk to any of the DLMS team or sale consignors and we can help you in purchasing the lot you are interested in.

Breeding Information:

Observed bred to Balamore Mac 446M on May 16, 2025.

Confirmed 35 days in calf on June 22 (Safe to May 16 breeding).

Confirmed 4.5 months in calf on September 27. Due February 26, 2026 (286 day gestation)

8M is a moderate female out of Balamore Hickory 060H, a herdsire who has been and will continue to be heavily utilized in our program. 8M is a balanced female, with abundant rib and muscle expression. Like the rest of our Hickory calves, she has ample capacity and is sure to be a high producing female.

We have been impressed with how the first Hickory daughters have been milking. Her dam, 65H has an ideal udder, similar to that of her paternal sibling PLNS Henessy 69H, who was successfully campaigned in the fall of 2022. With good milking females on both sides of her pedigree, it’s no doubt that 8M will be a high producing cow. Mercedes is safe in calf to Balamore Mac 446M, with the resulting calf being homozygous polled. This calf will be one of the few Mac calves that will be born, as we unfortunately lost Mac during breeding in the spring.

8M is homozygous polled and has been 100K tested.

EXCEL POLLED Apples 467M

Apples 467M is a really exceptional heifer by pedigree, with the phenotype that should be both expected and appreciated! She is massive through her middle, wide topped, excellent footed, and has tons of hair - so much hair! Her dam is a full sibling to the Escalade bull, who has been making us incredible females, as well as the high-selling bull from last year’s Excellence Sale to Pinnacle View. She has a real broody cow look, and whether she lands in your front pasture, the show ring, or producing top-end herd bulls, this one is truly special.

EXCEL

North Star 469M is a really long-spined, classic-typed Limousin female — beautifully feminine through her neck and skull, with tons of muscle shape and a deep quarter. She is a maternal sister to our Freebird 16F bull that sold to Northstream Limousin in the Excellence Sale, and her dam Daisy Duke is an absolute tank — huge middle, big top and the definition of a true brood cow. North Star’s sire, Krusher 32K, has been doing an outstanding job here in both the heifer and cow pen. His bull calves were sale highlights again this spring, including one that led off the sale to Amaglen Limousin. A super cool breeding piece with our very top genetics stacked into one neat package.

In the group of bred heifers, Oh My 7M indexed in the top ratio of the group for muscle and lean meat yield. Her dam Cherway Katherine the Great 28K did an awesome job her first calf and Oh My 7M went on to be bred early just like her maternal family that goes back to L&S KatherinetheGreat LDS27 (LDS 27K). AMAGLEN Mistletoe

Breeding Information:

Exposed to EMF Jetson from March 30 to June 25. Observed bred on April 2. Preg checked 7 months on November 7.

Just in time for Christmas – Amaglen Mistletoe! Both of our consignments this year come from the Amaglen Abbey family which has been a female making cow family in our herd. We hosted a 4-H judging clinic and grabbed 4 random heifers out of the pen for the kids to judge. 5M was in the group because she is extremely docile, however, once we had her out to compare to the other heifers, we realized that she is the complete package. Extremely docile, excellent structure, good footed with a tidy udder and easily chosen as the winner of the class. She is a JYF Galveston daughter who really needs no introduction. He brings power, growth and a great attitude to the equation.

AMAGLEN Moneypenny

Amaglen Moneypenny is a deep bodied, feminine heifer and the result of a mating of 2 of our most maternal cow families. Female maker here! On the cow side, she comes from a long line of productive females with beautiful udders. Her grandam was Amaglen Abbey who we currently have 16 daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters in our herd or in other purebred herds. Her sire Amaglen James Bond comes from the Amaglen Dolly family which we have been heavily campaigning the last few years on the show road and have a lot of confidence in. We currently have 18 females in our herd descending from Dolly and this is the first Dolly female descendent we have offered. We struggled to let this one go, as we sold her half sister last year in the Western Select and her dam makes awesome bulls.

WILLARD 5115W

This spring we decided we would heavily utilize embryo transfer, and in doing so needed more cows to transplant eggs into. With the price of commercial recipient cows so high, we ended up using some of our best milking purebred cows as recipients. WGL 12E is a purebred cow we purchased from Windy Gables in the Colours of Autumn Sale a few years back. She is carrying an exciting mating of Balamore Hickory 060H x RAE 833F. This calf is a full sibling to Pinnacle’s/PLNS Money Man 433M who was successfully campaigned last fall and caught many eyes, winning Champion Junior Bull calf at Farmfair and Reserve Champion Intermediate Bull calf at Agribition. Hickory calves are not only stylish and eye-catching in the show ring but also functional in the pasture. We have been blown away by the consistency of Hickory calves. They are good footed, long-bodied, high-capacity animals. RAE 833F is a result of a long time partnership with the great folks of Pinnacle View and is a standout cow in the herd with her overall power and performance.

Nevada 16N

It’s exciting to be consigning PLNS Nevada 16N to this years sale. Nevada is a result of our purchase in last years Western Select, where we purchased her dam as Lot 6. 16N follows closely in her dams footsteps. She is a high capacity, stylish female. She has ample muscle shape while having an ideal front third. With Wisteria Lane on the maternal side and Ally on the paternal side, there really is a ton of potential as a breeding female.

Nevada is halter broke, extremely docile and would make an excellent junior project. She is homozygous polled and 100K tested.

SGL Nickel is an attractive, correct, long bodied heifer that is sure to catch your eye as she did ours. This should come as no surprise as SGL Glenice has been a no miss cow, working well with many sires. Glenice's Sire, Anchor B Endzone, has left us with many functional, powerful, and productive females. Look a step further back at SGL Daisy, who we have kept every female in herd and every bull has been sold off the farm. Examine this maternal line and you can understand why it was tough to consign her to the sale. An Extra bonus with Nickel is she has a light birth weight to go with her smooth, stylish body style.

Dam - SGL Glenice
Granddam - SGL Daisy

This heifer comes from a cow that is starting to make a name for herself in our herd and clearly she did a whale of a job on this heifer calf. We purchased her dam as a heifer calf from 777 Cattle and we have come to appreciate the 777 Hawkins females for their maternal strength and the Wulf's Kactus mating has created a powerhouse female. RG's Night Shift 5N brings the power and frame without lacking stoutness or overall capacity. She is angular in her front third and stands on a good big foot. She ranks in the top 1% of the breed for weaning and yearling weight as well as total maternal. This one has been a standout since birth and has already been successfully campaigned alongside her dam this summer being crowned Grand Champion Female at Dawson Creek Exhibition. Don't miss out on this cow power in the making!

We can't say enough about our first set of Kactus calves, everyone comes with good frame and extra length and this gal is no exception. She didn't want to cooperate in the picture pen and this picture doesn't do her justice. She is tidy through her front end with adequate thickness and extra length of spine. She stands on a good foot and can really get out and move. We bought her dam a couple years ago as a bred from Excel Ranches and we like this Escalade daughter for her tidy udder, quality feet and classic limo type. RG's Nova 9N is sure to follow in her momma's footsteps.

BK's Jitterbug 10N is wide topped with a lot of capacity and that true limousin hip. This female is stout no matter what angle you look at her from yet she doesn't sacrifice any style or show ring appeal. We have used B-Bar Stetson for his calving ease to help moderate birthweight while not sacrificing overall thickness. This is the type of calf we expect from this mating. Her dam is a retired junior show cow for Bree from Pinnacle View Livestock and an absolute gem to work with, docility is definitely bred into this one. Juniors take notice as this heifer is an absolute sweetheart and has already been campaigned by Bree this summer. Bid with confidence as the work is done on this one!

Sire - B-Bar Stetson 35H

A heifer we are truly proud to consign. Strong genetics combining calving ease, maternal and performance. Sired by Wulfs Going Flying who has done wonders here in the heifer pen adding his calving ease, depth and fleshing ability. She is a direct daughter of a flushmate to Highs Legacy; a bull who impresses everyone he comes in contact with. Nyla will be the first with these genetics to sell. With a stacked unique pedigree like this you can't go wrong. Pedigree aside Nyla is a standout, free moving, long-spined with massive rib shape and muscle all without sacrificing feminimity. She is a female we have no doubt will go out and produce.

A fancy black Governor daughter with all the right pieces—length, structure, and breed character. Out of a beautifully uddered Dirty Deeds cow, she’s a balanced mix of eye appeal and function. Red female out of a cow purchased from the western select in 2023. Her first daughter got many good reviews at the Impact show this past summer in Swift Current and we feel this red version is even better! KLA 113N carries a ton of limo character through her bold square hip and thick, strong top. The full brother to this heifer’s maternal grandsire is used as our top herdsire giving many productive females for our program. Her pedigree carries something to fit any program.

Red granddaughter of my great Xzella 598X cow and Balamore Gold Rush 927G who both make great females. The 598X cow spent 14 years in production, this heifer will follow in the family tree with fertility, longevity and soundness bred in for generations. The heifer’s sire was our pick from the 2024 Stewart Limousin Bull Sale and was destined for many impactful breedings in our program until an injury spoiled that. Special opportunity presented here.

When selecting a heifer calf to consign to this years Western Select sale, we thought why not send the best and send the calf in the show string? Nala 90N, affectionately know as "Princess" around the yard was shown this summer along side her 2 year old dam and both held their own in the few shows they were shown including a Reserve Champion 2 year old pair nod at the Manitoba Limousin Summer Show. 90N also held her own being 4th place among a large class of heifer calves and Champion Heifer Calf in the Manitoba Junior Limousin show. Phenotypically you have to admire her for her femininity, length of spine, and eye appeal. She is no slouch on her papers either, being sired by the Greenwood Fernando bull who we started using a few years ago and has become our go-to AI bull for heifers and has been used on select cows due to his consistently strong calves on both the heifer and bull side. On the bottom side of the pedigree, 90N goes back to the one of the matriarch cows of the herd, Jaymarandy Hera 8A. The Hera cow family is known for their udder development, fertility, bull making power, and docility. Show her then breed her, either way you won't be disappointed.
