BOHEMIA VILLAGE VOICE No. 12. Thursday 8 June 2006. ________________________________________________ Bohemia Area Association A dozen members of the BAA committee met this evening at a very hot YMCA room in St Paul’s Road, Bohemia, and there was much discussion about pavements and alleyways, Upper Park Road and ‘Bohemia Bygones’ – resulting in sub-committees being set up for each of these topics. Peter Holland was in the chair. BAA – Street rubbish The Pavements & Alleyways sub-committee is to be concerned with such things as rubbish in the streets and front gardens cluttered with household furniture and junk. Each area of Bohemia will be monitored by a committee member (I got St Peter’s Road!) who reports all incidents to Vic Chalcraft of Aldborough Road who, in turn will let Hastings Borough Council know. By logging all reports, it is hoped to be able to call HBC to account if they let us down. BAA – Upper Park Road Feelings ran high at the BAA concerning rogue parking in Upper Park Road, near the betting shop and a sub-committee has been set up specifically to monitor and report on this ‘problem’. The members who are going to keep an eagle eye on this are Terry Foord of Munday’s, Andy Holmes and the chairman of the BAA, Peter Holland. BAA – Bohemia Bygones There is an exhibition planned for September of photographs and drawings of Bohemia as it was years ago. It will be called ‘Bohemia Bygones’. Terry Foord of H A P Munday’s Newsagents is collecting the material and would be grateful to know of any old photographs of this area which you may have. Please call in or ring him on 437233. The show will take place Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September at the Methodist Church in Upper Park Road. BAA – Newsletter Next issue of the Bohemia Area Newsletter is scheduled for August. Any items for inclusion should be sent to Andy via Munday’s Newsagents, 54, Bohemia Road, tel 437233. BAA – Membership drive All annual subscriptions to the BAA expired last month and committee members will be out in force in the coming weeks attempting to deprive you of the £1 annual membership fee. I have been allocated Horntye Road for canvassing.
