Ratzo Vashov: The Flow of the Spirit By Dr. Michael Abramsky

The month of Nissan in the Hebrew calendar is centered on Passover (Pesach). Passover is the spiritual New Year of Judaism. It encapsulates the major leitmotif of Judaism, the movement from bondage to freedom. In the plain meaning of the story of the Exodus from Egypt, the Hebrew name for Egypt is Mitzraim, or, ‘the narrows’. Mitzraim’s plain meaning refers to the Egyptian countryside which is dominated by the Nile River with fertile soil sandwiching the river, a narrow strip running through the country which is the only habitable area of Egypt. The psychological meaning refers to the confinement of our life. The Jews were physically held captive. Psychologically we are trapped in our body, attached to material possessions, stunted by habits, confined by static teachings and formalized ways of acting; our lives are narrow and confined. We must move on to continue to individuate or become the person of our potential, just as the Jews had to flee in order to be free. The thought of change generates a lack of confidence; into that void comes both fear and doubt. We think a mundane existence is superior to the unknown. We have been conditioned to believe that confidence is the prerequisite for action. But the meditation teacher Sylvia Boorstein reminds us, “Confidence is not something we have, it’s something we practice.” I can’t tell you the number of times clients have put off inevitable decisions because “I’ll wait until after the holidays.” “The kids are too busy.” “There are too many things happening.” “My mother is ill.” Or, the myriad excuses I have told myself in order to avoid action. The fact is, most major life decisions are fraught with uncertainty. To act we require trust. The Hebrew word emunah, means trust. But trust unfolds in three stages. 1) Emunat ha-moah: Trusting Mind. This is the realm of thinking or reason. It may be information we have gathered or data from a trusted person, an insight in psychotherapy or a revelation of God’s ratzon or will in religious practice. 2) Emunat ha-lev: A Trusting Heart. While thoughts and ideas are the guides, feelings are the engine. Our feelings animate our thoughts. They take our thoughts and imbue them with passions. Our thoughts become transformed into bodily energy, which manifests as desire.

3) Emunat ha-evarim: Embodiment. This is the action component. Trusting with your limbs. Whether it’s physically leaving, signing a contract or connecting with another, we do so through specific physical action. Emunah to be effective unfolds in these three dimensions. Like the Exodus, our individual journey begins with ‘a stirring of the soul’. Psychologically this manifests as ‘intuition’, or an instinctive feeling as compared to conscious reasoning. As such, there is always uncertainty, as we cannot fill in the cognitive elements, which make for absolute knowledge and prediction. Furthermore, we can never be completely prepared, because there is inherent uncertainty in knowing the future. The next shift begins with feelings or emotions. Our feelings energize and excite. Like atoms on a ring, energy builds and brings us to the point of action. The action, however, must be guided by faith or trust, which takes the place of knowledge. Ironically these states only occur after the action is taken. The Jews are allowed to leave Egypt. They are not prepared, but they leave anyway. They are motivated by their trust and faith in Moses who channels God. Pharaoh then changes his mind and chases the Jews. The Jews approach the Red Sea, and without hesitation leap into the water. It is only then that they break into song, and God opens the waters so the Jews can leave. The expression in song is the highest and ultimate expression of emunach, the unity of thought, feeling and action. But the Jews only knew true faith and trust after they leaped, after they risked. In our personal lives, we must also leap. The worst mistakes I have made in my life have been staying too long. At the same time, I have recognized that ‘leaping’ even without complete preparation is not a catastrophe. It does not always work, but it is still superior to staying put. Once the stirring of the soul is heard we must move forward, in an expression of our freedom. And the expression of freedom is more important than consequences, which are always transient, and rarely what we imagine.

Love Your Humanity, To Know Your Divinity Self Love is Fundamental to Change By Barbra White

Bringing heaven to earth, feeling the divine in your very breath, and manifesting your desires rests on your willingness to love all parts of you. Loving yourself means cultivating gentleness, tenderness, and presence, to wrap like a babies blanket, around past trauma or current painful emotions. As you bring love to what is distressing, without adding story, denying, projecting or numbing, this love has the power to change your life, manifest your desires, heal illness, and slow the aging process. I have seen this in my own life, and with my clients, literally thousands of times. So if loving ourselves does all these wonderful things (and it does) why don’t we do it more?! 1. We ask “why” the emotion is here. Then our mind will fill in “reasons” that will stunt the possibility of inner growth and real life changes. 2. If we can’t find a clear “why” then we shame or attack ourselves, or others, for our pain. This can go on for years, trapping pain of the past deep in our psyche and tissues. This trapped pain fragmented our energy system and we began to have haunting feelings of brokenness or unworthiness. (NO one is broken or unworthy) 3. We humans normally don’t have the tools, context, or support to productively move the energy of pain/trauma through our bodies. 4. Other humans without their own self-acceptance practice will offer advice before empathy. Advice before empathy has fixing energy to it. This energy added

to a person’s vulnerable emotional share will trigger someone to feel even more broken. 5. We are taught to be mediocre. We think the answer is outside of us. We are not shown through healthy mentors how to manifest through our very own energy systems the answers we seek. (You are the answer) Ok, so how can we make selfacceptance easier? I have had the joy of watching thousands of lives change and bodies heal through self-acceptance, and I am excited to share with you these lifechanging tips. (For more information, check out my first book, Why Self Acceptance is so Powerful, that chronicles the wisdom of over 10,000 self-acceptance sessions) Practice these dynamic life-changing principles: 1. Don’t ask ‘why’. Instead of asking, “Why am I feeling this way?”..ask where. Once you feel in the body the sensation of the emotion, draw your breath from the earth to the sky and back. 2. Commit to loving all parts of you. Even though the pain is only a small part, if you judge it...you will be engulfed by it. What you judge, you become. The problem IS the solution. The pain is the bridge to realizing more of your true divine nature. See the pain as opportunity to reveal more of your true greatness. 3. Sit daily, and be with, and as, your divine nature. Say out loud, “I am willing to feel how loved I am.” Do this for 10 minutes a day. Decide before you sit, to embrace and love whatever rises. Do step one and two over and over. Eventually, you will feel: “I Am Love.” Frame your self-acceptance practice in unconditional love: 4. Prior to steps, 1-3 affirm: “Who I am is already whole, and already loved.” Don’t try to heal...reveal. Don’t try to get

your happiness...let it. If you start from heal or getting...you are implying that you are currently missing something. You are not! You are a divine being that can think independently of circumstance and conditions. 5. Prior to steps, 1-3 affirm: “Who I am is more than the pain, protective personality or story.” You are already here. Already beautiful. Already innately magnificent. You are just waking up to who you have always been, and will always be. You are a cosmic happening in a local phenomena that has the power to co-create an amazing life! 6. Ask for help from people you can discern have their own selfacceptance or self-awareness practice. Communicate your need to be witnessed with empathy and love. Let them be your “training wheels” to your own self-love. Share your story with intentions to let the story go! There is so much love, and blessings waiting for you to allow in. As you love your humanity, you will begin to taste and feel your divinity. As you embrace all your feelings without story, you create the energetic framework to manifest your dreams and make empowering choices. I am so happy to share with you this work. Good Boundaries for a Better Life By Eve Wilson

There is a saying that, “Good fences make good neighbors” and I want to agree with that in the most positive way. As people living in an increasingly crowded and chaotic world, better boundaries on every level have become essential for living a good life. There are boundaries on yards, boundaries in relationships, and spiritual boundaries, and without them, we experience both chaos and loss of energy. The more crowded and busy our world has become the more obvious it is that we need to find a way to protect our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energies just to get through our lives successfully. families is to take care of others, so they will hopefully love and take care of us in turn. But over time we may come to realize that this often means we give ourselves away for very little return. This is both a relationship and a spiritual issue, and mastering this challenge allows us to blossom and thrive in the ways we are designed to do. Like the atmosphere around the earth, each of us has an atmosphere or aura around our body which is our first protective field. It is about an arm’s length in every direction, including below our feet. Like the earth’s atmosphere, ours should hold the energies which are conducive to our well-being. When we give our power and energy away to those who aren’t generating their own energy, our own energy field is drained, muddied and begins to lose its power and protective abilities. Another way our aura loses energy is if we are living more in spirit than in the physical world – we call this, ungrounded. The aura is built by the union of our body and our spiritual self, so just being spiritual doesn’t do it. We need to bring our spirit into our body and then the aura is generated and becomes increasingly strong. So a commitment to living fully and wholly within our body and our spirit is the first way we can build good strong boundaries.

Doing for others what they can do for themselves weakens both of us. Setting a boundary to focus on our own life by not carrying others, allows us to regenerate our aura, and may help others to step up to the plate for themselves. That’s a choice they have to make or not as they choose. Out of love for them and for ourselves, we can explain that it disempowers both of us if we carry the burdens they are capable of for themselves. We can believe in them and that they can do it for themselves if they will. Badgering others to do their part is just another way of taking responsibility for them and losing power. After setting clear boundaries and expectations, when another still won’t do their part, we may choose to do it for ourselves as a free and conscious choice, without blame. Or, we can choose not to. That brings us to the next layer of relationship muscle, which is built by making choices about who we want to be in a relationship with. Accepting another’s right to live as they choose, we also have that right. Choosing to be where some people don’t do their share is an option. Making that choice freely and doing what needs to be done with grace and self-love, you may learn to hold your power and generate the life you desire. Choosing to be true to ourselves means we don’t try to change those around us to be what we want either. Of course, with

A few years ago I had a client, we will call him Pete, who was experiencing anxiety attacks. I invited him to participate in a Family Constellations session to help identify, get at the root, and resolve what was causing these attacks. As he explained to me when he would have these panic attacks, he would experience strong emotional distress and always hear in his mind the words, “I’ll never get out of here alive.” Whenever you hear language like that from someone going through the Constellation Process, it is an indication that there is more, much more to the story. The question was, where did that anxiety come from? Was it something that a person experienced previously in life or did it come from someone else that he was related to? As it turns out, his deceased father had been a soldier in the Vietnam war and had been involved in a very heated battle where it looked like he wouldn’t survive. Men all around him were dying and he found himself saying out loud the words, “I’ll never get out of here alive.” Fortunately, despite suffering severe wounds, his father did survive. His dad didn’t like to talk much about his Vietnam war experience, but he did share a few stories with his son, one of which was that particular story. People often ask me, What is Family Constellations? Family Constellations is a process that is used to detox a person from family pain and/or drama. Unconscious limits to success in this life often stem from the unresolved and many times unspoken traumas, tragedies and transgressions that weave themselves into the DNA, energy, “fabric” and conversations of life. What participants often tell me that they get from this process is that they are able to now identify the causes and resolve the feelings and actions that block financial success, health issues, limiting beliefs and behavior patterns. Also, quite often participants who have experienced long-standing tension with one or more family members find these conflicts spontaneously resolved without their relatives being aware of the work was being done. As part of the Family Constellation process, we ask other participants in the session to represent family members that are either deceased or still living, and who most likely had something to do with the trauma that is begging to be resolved. As strange as it may seem, these other participants will actually begin to take on the personality traits, belief systems, postures and sometimes physical symptoms of the person whom they are

representing. In our Family Constellation session, where we were working on Pete’s anxiety attacks, I noticed one of the representatives who was playing Pete’s father started to grimace as if in pain. I then asked him what he was feeling. As he grimaced, he explained he was experiencing a sharp pain in his left shoulder just where the “real Pete” had been injured. Then, he started to panic. He started to shout words and phrases much like my client had described in the pre-Constellation questionnaire that he completed before the start of the workshop. The information in that questionnaire had not been revealed to the representative participant before the event. As the representative later shared, the words and phrases that he used just came out of him when he was standing in for (or “representing”) the client’s father. So, what was revealed was that the anxiety and trauma that my client’s father had experienced during the Vietnam war had been energetically passed on to him. He was literally embodying his father’s emotional trauma in his own everyday life.

With that information revealed, we used the Constellation’s Process to energetically and symbolically return the anxiety to his dad while providing a new image of what was possible for the son. With Constellations, there are three recipients of healing: the person who has come to the workshop; the ancestor most connected to the problem; and the Family System as a whole. Sometimes people are curious about how a structural bodyworker became interested in facilitating Family Constellations. Let me share two stories that will shed light on this. When I was attending a Rolfing training in working with kids the instructor said that “When you are working on a child you have that child’s whole family system in your hands.” The other story was that during the first Family Constellations I lead, one of my bodywork clients told me, “Constellations are like Rolfing for the soul.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Surround Yourself with Healthy Skin By William H. Karl, D.C.

Did you know that your skin is one of the most important organs of your body? Based on surface area and weight, it’s also one of the largest organs. By definition, an organ is a selfcontained group of tissues that performs a specific function in the body. The major function of the skin is protection, along with regulation, sensation, and absorption. Skin provides the physical barrier between our bodies and the outside world, protecting us from mechanical impacts and pressures, toxins, temperature variations, microorganisms, radiation, and chemicals. It helps regulate body temperature, fluid balance and changes in the peripheral circulation. It detects and relays changes (such as heat, cold, touch, and pain) and provides the reservoir for the synthesis of Vitamin D made from cholesterol. Taking care of our skin should be a priority all year long, not just when we’re at the beach. One way to show gratitude for our skin’s protection is to reciprocate by protecting it. Protecting our skin starts with the same good habits which have been shown to improve health. The basic protocol is based on providing your body with proper nutrition and hydration, obtaining adequate exercise and restorative sleep, periodically detoxifying your body and avoiding toxins. One of my mantras is to never put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t put in your mouth. Any harmful substance absorbed through the skin must be detoxified by the liver and kidneys, the body’s filtration organs. Be aware that most skin products contain multiple toxins, chemicals, dyes, and artificial fragrances. Check out the Healthy Living App by The Environmental Working Group (www.ewg.org) to find the safest skin products. Also, don’t forget to wear rubber gloves when cleaning so you don’t absorb products into your body through your skin. Understanding how the skin is constructed allows us to gain insight into the health of tissues that can’t be seen. Skin is made up of epithelial cells like those in the intestines, the other organs of the body and the eyes. Skin problems often reflect problems in the intestinal lining in which nutrients aren’t being properly absorbed (i.e. leaky gut.) Special supplements formulated with predigested enzymes can be used in these cases to help with digestion, nutrient absorption, and intestinal repair. A proper balance of hormones is essential for keeping skin healthy and young looking. When talking about hormones to both male and female patients, I frequently hear, “Oh Doc, don’t worry about that. I don’t have hormones anymore!” Then 14

I remind them that if they didn’t have ANY hormones they wouldn’t be having this conversation because they wouldn’t be alive. In today’s chemically-laden world, both men and women suffer from imbalanced hormones. Scar tissue is a type of fibrosis caused by an injury or disease process that alters the skin. Fibrosis can extend through muscles, organs or the brain, eventually contracting, shrinking and strangling these tissues. Many types of fibrosis are exacerbated by excess estrogen. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (May 2012) “Estrogen Exacerbates Cystic Fibrosis Symptoms” explains why women with cystic fibrosis tend to fare worse than men. Properly balanced hormones, especially progesterone and testosterone, contribute to health as well as the appearance of healthy skin. When I refer to progesterone, I’m talking about natural progesterone, not synthetic progestin (norethindrone or norethynodrel) that are associated with an increased potential for cancer. To understand the significance of progesterone to the skin, imagine how a woman’s skin adapts to her changing body during pregnancy. The average production of progesterone for a non-pregnant woman is 20 mg/day. In the second trimester of pregnancy, this number goes to 400 mg/day. Despite her skin radically stretching to accommodate her rapidly changing shape, a healthy pregnant woman’s skin typically looks radiant and healthy. The layer of tissue holding the skin to the muscle is called fascia. Fascia is a single sheet of ultra-thin tissue that runs throughout the body covering all of our organs. Fascia has little tuffs that hold up the skin like pillars that absorb water so the skin can maintain its wrinkle-free appearance. If these fascia pillars become wrapped in toxic polymers, they can’t absorb water and collapse which causes wrinkles. Fascia has a network of tiny tubes called, tubules which have concentrated oxygen levels to help muscles and tissues breathe and function at higher levels. Blood vessels are made of the fascia. If you have bruising, spider veins, or varicose veins, it may be a warning that you’re at risk for other problems. When the blood vessels you can see are breaking (capillary fragility) this usually means the ones you can’t see are also at risk of breaking. Capillary fragility in organs such as the heart or brain may be a prelude to a heart attack or stroke. Fascia does even more interesting things but that is a discussion for another day -- or at my workshop on May 23! What else should you know? The most important vitamins for skin are the antioxidants A, C, D, and E (obtained from fruits and vegetables). Be sure to consume adequate levels of zinc (pumpkin seeds, grass-fed beef, cocoa powder), Omega-3 fatty acids (wild salmon, sardines, walnuts, hempseeds), bone broth (collagen), vitamin K (green leafy vegetables, fish, liver,

meat, eggs), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B7 (biotin) and B12 (cobalamin). Include foods such as wild-caught salmon, non-GMO whole grains, avocados, free range chicken and eggs. Avoid sugars. Eat organic when possible. Practice good hygiene. Get fresh air and sunshine. Take whole food supplements free of chemicals and synthetic ingredients. Nurture Yourself Through Nurturing Others By Chrissie Blaze Many of us who work hard helping others through healing and service in many ways, take little time to nurture ourselves. While meditation and yoga can help us achieve the ‘Relaxation Response’, a physical state of deep rest associated with the calming effects of relaxation, The Institute of Heart Math found that the patterns generated by compassion and altruism are more effective in bringing relaxation. They found through experimentation that states of mind brought about through caring for others rather than seeking inner peace have even greater health-promoting effects on our immune and nervous systems. Service is not only beneficial to others, but it also heals us!

prize. I think anyone who really prizes freedom would not try to get other people to think as they do. One of the problems we face is that so many people are adamant that their way is the only way. While it is good to be enthusiastic about one’s beliefs, I think it is also important to respect the enthusiasm other people have for theirs. I recently researched the lives of some great people. Almost all had difficult lives because of others, narrow-minded, jealous people who tried to change them or deprive them of their freedom in some way.

Rollin McCarthy, from the Institute of Heart Math, explained that love and caring drive our entire bodily system to oscillate at its resonant frequency, which is a state of harmony between our brains and bodies.

The great healer, Harry Edwards, was a prime example. All he wanted to do was heal people and he did. It is estimated that, over his forty-year healing career, he gave healing to an incredible fourteen million people. It may be difficult to believe but it is true. He was a Christian and he demonstrated true Christianity. It is even harder to believe that certain members of the Christian Church, instead of thanking him and asking them to teach them, organized a commission of Bishops and clergymen, together with doctors and a psychologist, to try to stop him!

If we look at the state of our world, we must agree that harmony is what is needed for the entire planet. We all play a part in bringing about this essential harmony and peace and one way is through love, respect, and understanding for each other.

He was a controversial figure because, as well as being a devout Christian, he was also a natural psychic. The profound success of his healing work was in part because he worked closely with the doctors, Louis Pasteur, and Joseph Lister, from the Other Side.

We have the whole gamut of belief systems on this planet, from no belief at all to a myriad of political, philosophical, religious and spiritual beliefs. I believe harmony can be achieved by finding common ground in different ideologies. I never wanted anyone to ever force their beliefs on me and, even as a child, I always resisted. It is deeply ingrained in me that freedom is precious. The freedom to believe as we choose was hard-won over many lifetimes and it is one that I

No amount of commissions set against him could stop him from practicing this great religion of spirituality in action, or service to others, which is the very basis of Christianity. He was also an absolutely astounding healer, another tenet of Christianity.

unable to walk started walking around the room, completely cured, he was accused by these narrow-minded people of doing ‘devil’s work.’ I am not saying this to criticize the Orthodox Church which has also done a tremendous amount of good and continues to do so. I am just illustrating the absurdity of his situation; because his own Christian beliefs were slightly different from those of the Commission, they were outraged. I did have the good fortune to see Mr. Edwards in action at The Albert Hall in London in the 1960s and witnessed first-hand his incredible, compassionate miracles. I knew that here was a remarkable man who was performing virtual miracles before my eyes. Even now I can still feel the absolute power of the mighty love that flowed through him like a highly charged electric current. I was only fourteen years of age at the time but I can remember him vividly, with sleeves rolled up, and compassion was written all over his lined face. His demonstration of love in action burned into my very soul like an initiation into truth. There is no doubt that this profound experience helped set me on my own spiritual path. It was later that I was to meet and study with another tremendous healer, my Spiritual Master, Dr. George King.

Self Care for Yourself, Like a Beautiful Garden

Imagine your life as a garden. What is your garden like? Is it wonderful to walk through because it has been lovingly well-tended, with beautiful, flowing, easy, clear paths to walk through? Does your garden seem to glow with health and energy? If it is, great! Conversely, a poorly tended garden is full of weeds, dying plants, pitfalls and vines that catch you up. You have to work hard to walk through it, and it is unenjoyable. Or, it may even be barren. How does your garden grow? With therapy, we look at how one tends and creates their garden -- how you nurture and feed your garden and weed out what you do not want in your life, planting what you do want, how you fill the pitfalls and clear out the vines that get in your way, and how you process your soil in which your plants grow. In the therapeutic process, I get the honor of assisting clients in learning to love and nurture themselves, to connect with and feed their heart and soul so they can experience life with a loving energy which permeates and changes every experience and perspective. As you start to value and connect with your true self and have the energy of appreciation and love towards yourself and others, your inner garden starts flourishing. Finding Time for Truly Nurturing Yourself By Margarita Tartakovsky, M.S.

How often do you do something fun? How often do you meditate, get a manicure, hang with loved ones, journal, read, work out or do anything else that brings you joy? One of the biggest reasons people don’t practice self-care is time. In fact, it might be the most common excuse we give. That, and the false belief that self-care is a selfish luxury. But “Relaxation is not a treat, it is necessary for your physical and emotional health,” writes Jennifer Louden in her wise and practical book, The Woman’s Comfort Book: A Self-Nurturing Guide for Restoring Balance in Your Life. She features clever ideas for creating more time for yourself – and dealing with the tasks you’d rather knock off your to-do list. Below, you’ll find her valuable suggestions. Taking Inventory of Your Life On a piece of paper, create three columns with these categories: like, dislike and ambivalent about. Then thinking of a typical week, list all the activities under one of the categories. For activities under the “dislike” column, ask yourself these two questions: “Must I do this? And if I must, how can I change this to make it more satisfying or agreeable?” Be creative. Even if an idea seems silly, list it anyway. (Good ideas often come from silly suggestions.) Set your timer for 10 minutes, and don’t stop writing. Making Time for Self-Care •

Let calls go to voicemail.

Don’t do housework or any other tedious tasks when you’re most energized and creative. Instead, use that time for self-care.

Consolidate errands.

Ask for help. If you have a spouse (or roommate), divide up the housework.

Be selective with TV viewing. After your show is over, turn off the TV.

Get rid of your TV.

Ask yourself regularly, “Is this how I choose to spend my time?”

Finding What Nurtures You It’s one thing to make time for self-care; it’s another to actually engage in selfnurturing activities. Brainstorm a list of activities you love to do. Think of activities in each area of your life: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. List activities that vary in time, everything from a few minutes to a few days. List at least 20 activities. Doing What Nurtures You With your list next to you, open your calendar, and start scheduling. Starting with tomorrow, schedule at least two pleasurable activities every day. “While it might not always seem like it, you’re the boss of your life,” Louden says. I noticed the other morning, when my alarm went off, that I began to mentally list all of my “to do’s” for that day. The emotions that accompanied those thoughts were anything but empowering and uplifting. I felt weighed down and trapped by all of the “have to” items on that list. Then, all of a sudden, I caught myself in that moment and had an epiphany. I realized that I really didn’t “have to” do any of those things. I had chosen to. It was my decision, and my decision alone, to commit my energy to those events. Here’s the thing – there’s only one “have to” in life – you have to eventually leave your physical body and return to Spirit. Everything else is a “want to”. Now, you may argue that point by saying that you “have to” go to work or you “have to” pay taxes, etc. The truth is, you “want to” to do those things because you choose to avoid the situations that would result if you didn’t. You want to work in order to earn money to support a certain lifestyle. You want to pay taxes to avoid being penalized. Those examples may be a bit extreme, but you understand what I mean. By seeing all of the little “to do’s” throughout your day as being “want to’s”, you will avoid feeling as if life is out of your control. The simple act of shifting your perspective will empower you to lose that victim mentality. So when you wake up and catch yourself listing off the things that you “have to” do each day, pause for a moment and shift your perspective. You have free will. Know that it’s always your choice as to where you direct your time and energy. It will empower you more and more with every decision you make. Self-Love is More Than a Cup of Tea By Faith Brower

These days we see commercials on TV, read on magazine covers, and hear ads on the radio about the necessity of taking care of ourselves first. These messages suggest that if we don’t take the time to nurture and care for our self, we will quickly become depleted and rundown, having less to give to others. The suggestions of what to do for ourselves sound lovely, like the following from FC Wellness Company Ltd. in 2014: • • • • • • •

Take a long, hot bath, add some essential oils Have a cup of herbal tea while doing nothing else Listen to or read uplifting literature Ask for what you need Practice deep breathing Exercise Surround yourself with positive people

But these suggestions are short-term solutions for a much BIGGER NEED. They are like putting pressure on a bleeding wound. Once we take the pressure off, the wound gushes blood once again. Everyone’s BIG NEED is to feel loved, and wanting to have an impact on the world. To truly stop the bleeding, to get this BIG NEED met, is an inside job. Understanding who we really are, i.e. what feelings we have, dealing with them, learning to accept them, and moving on, is the road to self-love. Once we know and embrace how we like “being” in this world, we can relax more. Relaxing more can lead to acknowledging and accepting our feelings about things, people, and messages from our past. Soon self-love is waiting to happen! I am suggesting self-love grows from the inside out. It does not occur outside of ourselves. And when we love ourselves, others are naturally affected. Our thoughts, words, and actions will mirror the love inside of us. As Bob Marley said, “Love the life you live. How to Use Stress to Improve Your Life

When we listen to the news there’s always a story about shortages. You’ve heard the reports, jobs are in short supply, affordable housing is in short supply, safety, clean water, and even good men are hard to come by. But there is one thing that you’ve never heard of being in short supply, and that is stress. There is an abundance of stress. It’s everywhere. When your alarm clock goes off in the morning, you wake up to the traffic report, “It’s a parking lot on 95.” You get in the car, turn on your radio and hear that the Dow Jones is plummeting and the economy is in danger. The kids’ school calls you at 10 a.m. and you need to leave work. You arrived to work late due the traffic on 95, but now you’re leaving early because of a child emergency. You’re conflicted because job security is in short supply. Stress and the guarantee of more stress rank up there with death and taxes; in other words, it’s inevitable. I know that sounds like bad news, but I have always believed in using whatever shows up in my life to get what I want out of life. And because stress seems to be the one supply item that I never run short of, I decided that I would learn to use stress as the main ingredient in creating the life of my dreams. Resisting stress takes up too much of our valuable time (not to mention the fact that the act of resisting creates more stress). We are designed to be whole and complete. We get disturbed and anxious when we believe that a situation will rob us of our wholeness and leave us incomplete. Another way to say this is to say that we are designed to live at peace, the definition of peace being -- wholeness, completeness, nothing missing, nothing broken, totality. Anything or anyone that we perceive as robbing us of our peace causes us stress. I can’t change the traffic, I can’t change the Dow Jones, I can’t predict the weather or the next inconvenient emergency that shows up in my day, but I can change my perception of everything. This doesn’t mean that I plaster a plastic smile on my face and deny the presence of these unwanted circumstances in my life. Good for you if you can do that and still be healthy, but I’ve tried that, and it just led to suppressed

About 15 years ago, I changed my approach to stress, and it has made a world of difference. Two simple steps: first I acknowledge the presence of stress. I know that sounds silly, but too often we rush through the events in our life. We don’t give ourselves time or permission to feel what we are feeling. It’s so important to value self. This doesn’t mean that we give ourselves permission to waddle in our down emotions. No, instead we just acknowledge what we are feeling. Second, I utilize the power of words. When I catch myself becoming overwhelmed with an overly-crammed schedule or the unrealistic demands on my time, I begin a process of self-talk that goes like this: “Dravon, you’re having a whirlwind of a day, and you are becoming stressed. Stop and breathe.” Sometimes I recite the items or events that are causing me to feel stress. Then I remind myself that I am important and that I will never finish all the work or meet everyone’s expectation, and that’s quite okay. Often, throughout the day, I remind myself that I am safe and that I am whole and complete. The more that stress shows up in my life, the more opportunities I have for genuine self-love. When I take the time to love me, the residual effect is that I am more loving and compassionate with others. Voila! Stress has just had a paradoxical effect on my life, my family, my community, and possibly the world. I know I’m going to get a lot of people saying that what I’m thinking is not true... There is no such thing as negative energy! It’s our perception of the way we look at life. As I think about it, there has a lot that has happened in my life that has affected me, changing me to the way I am. I wake up in the morning, I open my eyes, my life is beautiful as I see it. I visualize what I want to do and go about my day. There’s a lot that happens to me throughout the day. There’s work, computers, people, children, adults, and as you look at it, we run into all kinds of people all day long. Most of them are not happy. Why? Let’s talk about the people we work with. There’s always that one person that just doesn’t want to agree with us or be happy. They’re not negative. We think they’re negative, but they don’t think they’re negative. It’s our perception again. There is only one energy that comes into the universe and that energy is not positive energy or negative energy, it’s just energy that comes to us though the universe. Have you looked at the beautiful flowers that the universe makes? It’s never wrong what Mother Nature does with her creation. Flora in all colors, shapes and sizes. People are created that way also. I believe we made up the word because it controls our day, all day if something doesn’t happen our way. It becomes negative if someone doesn’t agree with us, they become “crazy negative”. I wonder where that came from, who started the negative energy, the words that come with it, toxic. How many people call their husband, mother, sister, brother, boss, whoever you can think of, toxic. The feminine. We all hold this within us, no matter what our gender may be. We are comprised of masculine and feminine energies and each serves their purpose at different times and in different ways. The feminine principle is to nurture and support, to listen to what her intuition is saying to her and using that as her guide to moving forward. We live in a very masculine society, where value is placed on the doing, going, and achieving. This energy is important for certain aspects of our lives but just as with anything, when it’s out of balance, we must recalibrate by bringing in the opposite principle. When it comes to the foods we consume, the feminine is found in the same way. She is what nurtures and soothes, giving our body the self-love and care we deserve while helping to restore it to a healthy balance. The masculine invokes heat with acidic foods while the feminine neutralizes with alkalinity. She listens to her body, hearing what food it is asking for. And when something doesn’t fit, when something doesn’t feel right, she does not force it upon herself, continuing to push it down. Just as a mother helps sustain life and love for her child, so does the feminine within do that for our bodies. It is our job to listen and hear what our bodies are telling us. Perhaps it is time to give up that one thing that you know is aggravating you, but you have a hard time letting go of. It is remembering that when we let go of that which does not serve us, it is actually self-love and care. Food is the best way to restore our health and well-being. The challenge is navigating through all the obstacles of convenience culture. We do the best

INSTRUCTIONS For the chicken: cut chicken into thin strips. Combine wine/sherry and cornstarch in a medium bowl. Add chicken and stir to coat. Let stand for 10 minutes. 
Meanwhile, remove stems from black mushrooms. Bring broth to a boil in a large pot. Add chicken, black mushrooms, straw mushrooms, and ginger. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 2 minutes. Add bamboo shoots, carrot, water chestnuts, bok choy, peas, wine, tamari, and pepper; simmer for 2 minutes.

Sizzling Rice Soup Ingredients: Chicken:

In a wok, heat oil for deep-frying to 375’F. Deep-fry rice crusts, 4 chunks at a time, turning continuously, until puffed and golden, 15 to 20 seconds. Remove and drain on paper towels.

8 oz. Chicken, boneless, skinless 1 T. Chinese rice wine or dry sherry 1 t. Cornstarch

To serve, in one large bowl or individual bowls, slide hot rice crusts into the soup. Top with sesame oil. After the rice sizzles, break rice pieces with a soup ladle and serve.

Soup: 4 dried black mushrooms -can be found at an Asian store, soaked 6 c. Chicken Bone Broth or stock 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced

Honoring Self

By Gwendolyn Esco Davis Self-care is the number one solution to helping somebody else. If you are kind to yourself and your body and your psyche that serves other people better because you will grow strong enough to lift someone else. Mary Lambert Can you recall when you were in college and hanging out with friends, and someone in the group would drink more alcohol than their body could handle? Perhaps you were out for a great meal, and you overate? The next day or even sooner your body was in turmoil -- sick and bellowed. Knowing your limits, however, when the next opportunity avails itself, you do it all over again. In both cases, before the overload occurs, there are signals from the body saying, “You have reached your limit” or, “Don’t try it.” Our bodies communicate continuously, informing our intuition, which is also known as the sixth sense or somatic intelligence. When you tune into your body’s intelligence of self-care, you raise your consciousness and make meaning from your immediate experience without the filters that accompany verbal expressions. Instead of relying so heavily on a conversation, you can facilitate growth by using the body as a precious resource to process emotions, instincts, and intuition. Listening to the full wisdom of the body reveals emotional patterns, energy shifts and opportunities for transformation. When you exercise regularly, the results are feeling energetic, light and alive, and youthful. Then you permit life to get in the way and stop exercising. Your body

becomes stiff; you’re tired and begin to eat poorly. Your body is telling you that exercise is good for health and longevity, but you stop in spite of the benefits.

Self-care is the first rule for perseverance. When you are on a distressed ship or airplane, the first step is to secure yourself with a life vest. Women are more likely to take care of their loved ones first. Have you ever noticed when someone is the only caregiver of a loved one, and without fail the caregiver neglects his or her health? Know that it is not selfish to nurture your body with good food, rest, love, exercise, and prayer. A few years ago, a group of women were on their annual girls’ long weekend in the Caribbean Islands. One woman, after their first night-out, began to feel poorly; she had a pain in her abdomen. During the duration of the trip, her pain persisted. Upon her return home, she visited the doctor. The doctor said it was the flu, but she knew it was something more significant than the flu. Honoring her body’s messages, she persisted and insisted that the doctors do further testing. After many appointments and tests, the diagnosis was pancreatic cancer.

So what this actually does is give you the opportunity to let go and release many of your conclusions, taking things personally, getting hurt by other people’s words, or fighting for or against something. Whew, all of that is just exhausting anyways. There are so many people that take things personally and make it about them (I was one of them). But it has absolutely nothing to do with you, and everything to do with them. It’s their stuff, not yours. They judge you, great! It’s not about you. The more you can choose, and say quietly to yourself, “Interesting point of view,” then you don’t take it in. How much more energy will you have then?

The first step of self-care is being present with yourself and your surroundings. Listen to and nurture your inner signals. Take time to get to know you and the need to be kind to yourself.

Friends who knew me way back when ask me, “How is it that things are going so well for you?” They know I’ve had my share of challenges in my life but I’m not struggling. They wonder, what is that? How does she do that? What is her secret? No secret… “The 10 Keys to Total Freedom”. Live it, be it, choose it, do it. Simple. And getting regular bodywork and facilitation is helpful during the challenging times. But it gets easier and easier. It’s like building muscle. If you’re going to run a marathon you have to train and build strength and endurance. How do you do that? Practice!

What if everything you thought or heard was just an interesting point of view? What? Yep. No resisting or reacting, no aligning or agreeing, just an interesting point of view. It took me a very long time to actually get this tool and really use it, but once I did… FREEDOM!! Thus the name of the book, “The 10 Keys to Total Freedom” by Gary Douglas, founder of Access Consciousness. This tool is actually, “Everything is just an interesting point of view.”

It’s so funny to me when I hear someone say about energy work, bodywork or using a new tool, “I did that once and it didn’t work.” Um, I brushed my teeth once but my teeth decayed, it didn’t work. I went to the doctor once but I still got sick, it didn’t work. I washed my clothes once but they stink again, it didn’t work. Lol. Interesting point of view! It’s something for you to do as often as it comes up, not just once. So just like brushing your teeth, going to the doctor when you’re sick or washing dirty smelly clothes, using the tools is something you do every day. And how many times a day do you brush your teeth? Sometimes it’s multiple times. If you say, “Interesting point of view” all day about everything, how much freedom will that create? No aligning and agreeing or resisting and reacting, just interesting point of view, then you don’t take it in and make it solid. It creates more possibility which brings more freedom and more choice… if you choose it of course. So here’s an experiment… my challenge for you is to say, “Interesting point of view” to yourself when you conclude or judge anything or when you say, “This is how it is.” You can also practice this when others are talking to you -- say in your head, “Interesting point of view” so you don’t buy their story. Just an experiment. Do it for a week, or if you’re really daring do it for a month, see what happens. Then email me and let me know. You may just find that a new possibility in life opens up for you and creates more freedom in your world. Then what would you do? More energy, more freedom, more choice. What would your life be like then? So here’s the catch -- for this to happen you have to actually do it and use the tool. What can you create in your life now? What awareness can I receive that would enhance my life and create more ease? What am I aware of about this? What nudges from the universe have I been receiving and possibly ignoring? What do I know? What else can I ask about this to gain more awareness? Just ask questions and see what shows up for you. Often, we have an inkling about something, an awareness, and often ignore it. Don’t! Start asking more questions about it. Choosing to acknowledge your awareness is a great start to create even more awareness. Recently my homeowner’s insurance was ready to renew and I was aware to continue it another year. I bought a house last year and had to use my homeowner’s insurance a couple of times so it came in handy and paid for itself. Last year the appliances were not included even though I thought they were. It’s an older house and had older appliances. I kept getting the awareness to add the appliances. So when the renewal time arrived that’s what I did. Within a month after renewing, both my washer and dryer decided not to work. Oh boy! Luckily I was able to use my homeowner’s insurance. Yay! They were able to fix the dryer but the washer had too many problems to repair. So guess what? I got a brand new washing machine with tons of more options and larger capacity! Woohoo! How cool is that? And the cost of the new washer was double what I pay for homeowners insurance. Good deal! So grateful I followed my awareness! Can you recall a time when you had a thought or idea about something and

just brushed it off or ignored it, then later realized you knew and should have paid more attention? That’s you’re awareness. Acknowledge it! Give yourself credit for having an awareness. Celebrate it! And ask more questions. You might just be pleasantly surprised to get a brand new washing machine. Well, that’s my story, anyway. I could have gone into all the gloom and doom about my appliances breaking down. Nope. A little inconvenience, but only temporary. The result turned out so much better. Where can you use your awareness to create more for you? What questions can you ask to gain more awareness? What can you be, do and choose today to recognize and acknowledge your awareness? What can you choose to create more ease and joy in your life? You are a brilliant magical being! There’s nothing wrong with you, nothing to fix. You’re perfect just as you are, just you being you. You have the superpower of choice. Use it! And all you have to do is ask questions and choose. How’s that for awareness? Be the magical being you truly be. Ask and choose… YOU! Search for God Group Beginning The lessons in A Search for God were begun by a small group of people interested in Edgar Cayce’s psychic gift.They asked him for a reading on how they might help bring lightand truth to a waiting world. Red can make for a stimulating romantic accent color in your bedroom, but if another room like the living room is painted all red, it may evoke anger. If you have an accent wall in a dark red, it can work for a more romantic mood. So, surround yourself with colors that you would like to reflect in your mood.

Many of you are aware of the aura, which is in a continuous flux of color and density. Your moods and even your state of health is reflected within your aura and can change within a moment. Have you ever felt deeply sad or depressed, then something changed your mood to laughter or happiness? If you had a video camera on your aura, you would see the vibration of the aura change and colors would become bright and colorful according to your mood. You can see within the aura our mood, health and even our level of spiritual development. You can also tell when someone is untruthful by the density and color of their aura. There are seven layers to your aura; however many people can only see the inner layers that are denser. Psychics and healers can be highly attuned to the different qualities and colors of the aura; some see it; others may only feel the energy field of the aura. The outer layers of the aura are less dense which make them more challenging to see and feel. When there is a less vibrant color to our aura, and it appears gray or denser this means we are in an unhealthy place with either our physical body or emotional state of being. (like depression or grief.) All living things have an aura. We can feel this energy field when we shake the hand of another or even feel their presence when they enter the room. Their appearance does not just judge our first impression of someone, but how their energy field reflects who they are. We are not even aware of this exchange of information, but you know you either like them or feel like you cannot trust them in that first contact. Mostly we are taught not to follow our instincts which is why many people will rely on their pet (usually dogs) to detect the person’s true nature. We have all heard the saying if my dog likes you then I know you are good people. I also believe that we can be influenced by the colors we surround ourselves within our environment. You may have heard different color studies that state our mood within different color rooms. Example; Blue in the Kitchen calms you and does not stimulate your appetite the way a green or white kitchen will. Therefore, I have accented my kitchen with blue in hope not to over stimulate my appetite. If you are dealing with depression, you may want to decorate your home brightly

Here are some basic decor mood color tips to help guide you: Red-of course this color has been reflected in some of our expressions such as; “to see red” which indicates a blind rage of anger. In moderate splashes of red, you can find that it stimulates a sexy mood. Orange- This color is associated with friendly emotions and very much a people person. Dark Orange can indicate a mood of depression or ill health, however brighter orange reflects a happy more highly motivated mood. Yellow - is a color reflecting intellect and uplifting thoughts. Can bring out the happy in your environment and mood. Indigo- This color with Violet colors brings a spiritual outlook on life and helps to deliver a higher purpose to life. It can also stimulate your intuition. Green- is a color for healing and balance, putting this color in your environment plants are excellent, also add some green accent colors in your decor. You will experience an emotional and physical sense of wellbeing. White – is a color of purity, wisdom, and truth. Pure white auras are very rare. You can surround yourself with white for instance in your kitchen. You will enjoy a feeling of a clean, open environment. Black- in the aura can relate to emotional trauma or serious disease. The Shekinah is always longing for her Beloved God’s return. Within every human, the Shekinah Presence which is our Soul is longing to return home and merge in union with the Soul’s Beloved Creator.

Calling In the Heart of Your Beloved By Deirdre Hade

We all have the longing for a deeper experience of love. It is part of our human nature to desire to connect in a truly intimate way with another. It Is Time for You to Know a Deeper Love In the mystical tradition, this deeper love is known as the beloved and the beloved. It is therefore important to open your spiritual eyes and ears and be ready to know when the energy of your soulmate is near. You want to be aware enough to recognize this presence of love. Your Beloved Is a Mystical Experience The beloved can be a mystical experience between two people. It is deep, rich, and indescribable. It is a presence that can create what has never been created, heal what has never been healed before. It is the place where your soul relaxes into the arms of your beloved. When we unite with our beloved, when we’re in that place of deep resonance our soul feels safe, our soul says, “I have a home now and so I will return.” When your soul returns fully into your body you are enlightened.

The Four Steps to Creating a Divine Romance

1. Turn off the world, the phone, the television, and create a sacred chrysalis for you and your beloved to find each other’s soul.

The beloved is a spiritual and mystical pathway to God. In the creative story of the mystical Kabbalah, it says that God took His beloved and brought Her to earth. He put Her on the earth to be the light of physical existence. To hold the eternal light that creates all of life. It is She who makes everything live. The trees, the flowers, the air, and water. All of nature is from the generosity of God’s Beloved, you could say she is Mother Earth.

2. Take this special time with your beloved where you bring all of your attention into one another. Look into each other’s eyes deeply. Take each other’s left hand and place it on one another’s heart. Hold each other’s heart and breathe together slowly and gently until the inhale and exhale of your breath become one. Stay with this as long as you can.

First, it’s very important to invite divine romance into your life. There is a romance, a wooing between God and Shekinah, His beloved. This courting is romantic, as romance softens the heart and puts the ego to rest. Divine romance creates a sacred frequency, the energy of love necessary for the Beloved and the Beloved. To do this, it is very simple.

to stroke each other’s face. Use the back of your hand and the palm of your hand to explore each other’s face. Study the curves of your Beloved’s face. The face is extraordinarily sensitive. See if you can see the face beneath the physical face, your Beloved’s soul face longing to open. 4. As you embrace, fall even deeper into each other as if gravity is pulling the two of you together. Now share with each other what you love about each other, what you are grateful for in the other and finish by saying, “I see you, I love You.” Experience a Return to the Bliss of Love By spending time together with these four steps and by having your meditation practice of yoking to the light you have just opened up The Invitation to the Soul of Your Beloved. And this presence will make itself known in the bliss you will be experiencing. And this is true satisfaction in love where wholeness and completion resides in our soul. The ego’s form of relationship love is not the same kind of love as this love. Ego’s love cannot quench the thirst of your soul’s deep need to be loved. And you deserve to know love. Take a pre-made meal for lunch. Take care of your body! Dining out is not always healthy. Pre-pack your lunch the night before and nurture your body with nutritious food. Eat away from your desk and relax. 9. Get enough sleep. Sleep is necessary for the body and mind to fully function yet we don’t always give them enough rest, and soon we’re running on empty. Great things are accomplished when you’re well-rested! 10. Make your weekend about you, not work. Taking work home with you doesn’t give you a day off. Use weekends to do things you enjoy. Resist the urge to check email. Spend time with family; take a mini- vacation. 11. Remind yourself that you are fabulous. Don’t lose yourself in deadlines and demands. Remind yourself of all that you have accomplished; remembering things that define you as an individual outside your work will contribute significantly to peace of mind. Your body and mind are your most valuable assets. To get through each day both need to be kept in good shape. Starting at the very beginning, we can focus on gratitude and release. So, go to the store and get two folders with lined paper; make sure that in one of them, the paper can easily be torn out. Now, take the folder that the pages can easily be torn from and label it, Release. Take the other and label it, Gratitude and Growth. Let’s start with the Gratitude folder; make sure you have it when you wake up and write down some things you are grateful and thankful for. Make sure to do this before you go to sleep as well. Some days this will be easy to do and others it may be challenging, but make sure you do it no matter how tough it might be. Now, take the Release folder and after work or in the middle of the day, grab this folder and write out all your complaints, all of your negative thoughts, feelings, and anything that is upsetting you. Big or small, right now or in the past, do not edit, just let it all flow onto the paper. With this folder, at the end of the week, we will do a release exercise. Make sure to tear out the pages at the end of each week. This will take a little time and effort but is still simple. Get a pot, a bowl, or your fireplace, and burn these pages with focused intention: “Make Peace, Release.” Make sure you follow this every day for this month and remember I am here for you. I can already feel the negativity burning away. Next, let’s work on shifting into our highest joy reality. Our focus will be Fun, and Joy. First thing I want you to do is to focus on comedy, watching old funny movies, the more hilarious the better. Every chance you get to focus on joy and what things bring you joy. What songs bring you joy, What places bring you joy What scents bring you joy, What colors bring you joy,

What foods bring you joy, What activities bring you joy. Focus on each of these things every day -- for instance, you love the smell of lavender, so get the essential oil and smell it at least once a day while listening to a song that brings you joy and looking at your joyful color. The more of these things you intertwine the better. Then take ten minutes to meditate and focus on joy. Breathe that joy throughout your body and soul, deep clearing breaths with your only focus, JOY. Let’s add the focus of beauty. It’s time to find beauty everywhere. First, watch the sunrise and sunset as much as possible. Go to the lake, go to calm, peaceful, beautiful places, make sure to take photos. Print some of the photos you find most beautiful and place them by a mirror. Sit in front of the mirror at least 2 times a day for 10 minutes and take 3 deep breaths. While looking at the photos say out loud, “The world is beautiful.” Looking into the mirror say out loud, “Life is beautiful, I am beautiful.” Then reverse by looking at the photos and say, “Life is beautiful. I am beautiful.” Looking into the mirror say, “The world is beautiful.” Just as I said last month, it is very important at this time to do our highest work, be open to training with someone who can truly help you. The most important thing now is to be in the highest love and light space to reach that next level of consciousness. We have to let go of our lesser selves and truly love ourselves so we can love all and awaken to our highest light form. Natural Crystals vs Polished By Jennifer VanderWal

Naturally forming quartz crystals are powerful and effective for bringing balance, evenly distributing, transmitting and amplifying all kinds of energy. This is because they are created as perfect six-sided crystals. Today we find all kinds of shapes and sizes of crystals because they are cut and polished. When a crystal is polished it doesn’t change the strength of the energy being transmitted, only how the crystal transmits the energies. A naturally formed six-sided quartz crystal has seven beams of energy it transmits. Each of the six sides and the center point have a laser beam of energy. If a crystal is tumbled or polished into a sphere, it radiates its energy out in a sphere instead of being pinpointed and direct like a termination. Energy with a single termination enters in through the base of the crystal and exits at the point. A rare type of crystal that forms in the center of ‘vugs’, pockets in the earth where crystals form, are called, ‘double terminated’. These crystals have a termination on both ends because they were not attached to the sides of the vugs. They are powerful healing tools, with the energy entering and exiting both ends simultaneously in a figure-eight pattern. People often ask if polished or naturally forming is better; there’s no difference except for personal preference. I only used naturally forming crystals until I read an article explaining that if a diamond has twenty-four facets it then has twenty-four laser beams of energy being transmitted, at pin-point precision. Which means that there is that much more energy being transmitted and amplified through the stone. Special crystals called, ‘Vogels’, are precisely cut into twelve-sided double terminated crystals. The idea, design, and usage of these Vogels came from Marcel Vogel. Often, Vogels used in healing are clear inside with no extra silica or water causing inclusions. Some believe this helps the energy being transmitted through the crystal to flow freely and quickly. The other reason is that Vogels are used in crystal healing to shine colored lights through them. This is done directly over the chakras and specific ailments, dis-ease or pain. When using a single terminated crystal, hold the base of the crystal over the pain -- this pulls the pain out. Next, flip the crystal over so the point is facing the area and the area is filled with healing white light. With a double terminated crystal you can hold either point over the area of pain, and as the crystal pulls out the pain it simultaneously fills the area with white light.
