Her students, ages 8-13, learned “The Impossible Dream” from “Man of La Mancha” for the camp’s closing concert. They were accompanied by pianist Jamie Marshall, who plays trombone with the Venice Symphony. The song’s title might have been apropos when Heskett began the camp, but with more than 100 students this summer, that is no longer the case. Enrollment increased this year despite the schedule change of another music camp that overlapped the Venice camp by one week, she said. Also up is the number of faculty, which was more than 20 this summer, Heskett said.
