LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

PORTFOLIO

ABOUT ME As a motivated new graduate of Landscape Architecture at North Carolina State University, I am seeking a position in the field of Landscape Architecture. I welcome opportunities to work in all facets of Landscape Architecture and hope to continue to develop as a designer gaining new experience working full time. I have a passion for designing and planning outdoor environments and creating spaces allowing people to connect with the outdoors. My past interships with N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NC DENR) have helped me to refine my process and gain experiences on how to best collaborate with professionals in the office environment. In my past Parks and Recreation internship in Raleigh I learned to coordinate meetings between professionals, collect park data in reference to projects, and to create designs for proposed projects around the state. I am skilled at using AutoCAD and other illustrating programs such as Photoshop, Illlustrator, and Google SketchUp. I have always enjoyed planning and working with teams to create outdoor spaces that work to meet people’s every day needs and offer a space for them to enjoy the outdoor environment.

POTENTIAL GREEN SPACE DIAGRAM

Mount Olive College Green Masterplan This is a current project I am working on, where I am developing a greener campus wide masterplan that reaches throughout the campus, taking advantage of wasted space and offering aesthetic and educational opportunites to the students and community. During this project I have worked on developing and reorganizing areas to allow maximum green space such as the proposed atheletic fields.

SECTIONS AND PERSPECTIVES PROPOSED COURTYARD The central campus courtyard creates an opportunity to become a central node of campus. It will serve multiple functions including ceremonies for college events, walkable routes to campus buildings, and recreation for students. This space offers an opportunity to take advantage of existing green area and through design preserve and promote natural beauty within the space as new buildings are constructed along this area.

TRAIL WORKOUT STATION PROPOSED ARBORETUM CENTER The arboretum center is a proposed building to serve the campus agricultural programs and need for an educational facility to support students and local community members seeking to use the certified plant professional garden. As students and locals visit the campus, the arboretum center can serve as a starting hub to connect people to trails, gardens, and areas throughout campus.

HARGETT STREET RALEIGH NC

RESIDENTIAL PLAN ALONG AN URBAN TRANSECT

HARGETT STREET RALEIGH NC For this project, each student focused on a specific block along the urban transect of Hargett Street to develop a design proposal to encourage strategic development and promote commnity building and livable streets. I looked at balancing mobility options to promote increased walkability and non-motorized connections. My project focused on a neighborhood along the transect. I looked at expanding the walkable part of the sidewalk by reducing the size of the road to limited on-street parking. This will allow for larger sidewalks and a bike lane. By reducing unnecessary on-street parking, more space will be opened up for non-motorized forms of transportation, creating space for expected density in the future.

PARK DEVELOPMENT: FORT FISHER PROPOSAL

FORT FISHER RAMP PROPOSAL

FORT FISHER BATHROOM ADDITION

NC DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES (NC DENR) During my summer internship at N.C. DENR, I worked through analysis and design to create sketches and final drawings for future capital improvement projects of several N.C. parks. I collaborated with stake holders, park superintendents, GIS professionals, and the park designer to draft many technical drawings reflecting the plans for future improvements to parks around the state. For these projects, I used mostly a combination of AutoCAD and ArcGIS. Shown are some technical drawings of proposed development at Fort Fisher State Park. An existing bath house was to be retrofitted to allow for maintenance storage and additonal bathrooms were designed to be added on to the existing office building.
