WSU offers quality academic programs, a vibrant student life, opportunities to make an impact on the community and that special Shocker Spirit. Join the “Thinkers, Doers, Movers and SHOCKERS at Wichita State. Wherever you are transferring from, fantastic opportunities await you at Wichita State University. One of those opportunities is specialized housing tailored to the incoming transfer student experience. The residence halls have two different transfer communities, Wheatshocker Apartments and Brennan Hall. Wheatshocker Apartments

In the fall of 1994, WSU President Eugene Hughes proposed buying the apartments to “make a new building out of an old building. With an investment of about $11.6 million in revenue bonds, the university gutted the six-story, U-shaped building and replaced virtually everything. The first phase of renovation was completed by the fall 1996 semester. It is now a prime housing option for sophomores, married students and single-parent students with no more than two children.

IMAGINE THE DIFFERENCE

Did you know... Residence Hall Fast Facts for 2012-2013 • Wichita State houses approximately 1,300 undergraduate students in 3 on-campus residence halls located throughout all areas of campus. There are 2 traditional residence halls and 1 apartment-style halls that are reserved for upper-class students. • Residence halls are co-educational and range in size from 100 to 620 residents. Students residing in traditional residence halls are housed in rooms and on floors/wings according to gender. Apartment units are suite style units with same gender occupying both sides of the suite. • Freshman students are housed in Brenna and Fairmount Hall: Freshmen residents are assigned to units within Brennan Hall and Fairmount Towers. Transfer students can live anywhere on campus, but those who live in our transfer communities love it. They have all the conveniences of living on campus plus the benefit of living with others who can relate to the transfer student experience. We are proud of our transfer communities, and we hope you will consider calling them home next year.
