London is one of the greenest urban environments of its size, and the Garden Bridge will add to the city’s rich horticultural heritage of parks, garden squares and green spaces. Connecting North and South London with a garden will be a dream come true, and a new kind of public space. One of today’s most imaginative and experimental design practices, Heatherwick Studio, engineering consultant Arup and Transport for London are working closely to develop the scheme. The width of the structure will vary along its span, giving pedestrians a safe passage and the opportunity to enjoy the unparalleled river views. Finally, and in peace.
