CYM ANNUAL CHAMBER CONCERT - 10 March 2016 This was our second visit to St Maryat-Hill Church for the CYM Chamber Concert, as we have found the intimate nature of the building as pleasing from an audience perspective as our players do from theirs. It is always a pleasure to see and hear our students rise to the challenge of working in the small ensembles featured in these concerts. All Saturday Centre departments, other than Percussion, are represented and the repertoire extends from the Baroque to the late 20th century. Working without a director stretches students’ musical skills in many ways,

increasing their understanding of the importance of communicating on stage, and their awareness of carrying a part ‘singlehandedly’. The Chamber Music provision at CYM has produced significant successes in recent years in various competitions and festivals, and groups have also been invited to perform in events in prestigious venues.
