Jinsoo designs and researches how people interact with everyday things -- from digital to physical. He has worked with over 40 top brands and his work has been featured on blogs such as PSFK, TechCrunch and Mashable. He currently works at Deutsch and lives in Downtown Los Angeles.

Viirj is a spatial experience designer and researcher with an interest in robotics and interactive architecture. Viirj has been involved in dozens of user experience and environmental design projects ranging from early stage startups to working at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. !

!e manufacture of “reading stones� large glass spheres used by monks was produced by the Venetians, between 1268 and 1289.

!e first operational wearable computer was created in 1961 with a joint eort at MIT with Claude Shannon. !e cigarette pack sized analog device was designed to predict roulette.

Very very brief history

Algebraic calculator watch was introduced by Hewlett-Packard in 1977. !e four keys were raised for easy finger access and two were recessed but could still be operated with the fingers. !e remaining keys were meant to be pressed with a stylus that snapped into the clasp of the bracelet.

In 1981 Steve Mann designed and built a backpack-mounted 6502-based wearable multimedia computer with text, graphics, and multimedia capability, as well as video capability (cameras and other photographic systems)

Eyes-On Augmented Reality Glasses !e Eyes-On unit uses a spectral approach. It pulses with four dierent kinds of light that are combined into a single composite image, making veins stand out against the skin. !e image of the veins appears on connected tablet as well as in the field of vision overlaid on top of the actual body -- along with vital signs. After the initial puncture, the Eyes-On glasses can also be used to check for leakage from an IV. !is is critical with certain drugs, during chemotherapy for example, which can cause great damage to the surrounding tissue if they escape the vein.

Anti-Neuroimaging Surveillance Accessories by Fabrica Lisa Kori Chung and Caitlin Morris designed the anti-NIS (neuroimaging surveillance) pieces to detect when surveillance technology linked to CCTV cameras is trying to read the wearer's brainwaves. !e device then redirects their thoughts to something inconsequential to help maintain privacy.

German Sound Location Apparatus (1917) !is fascinating photograph shows a junior oďŹƒcer and NCO from an unidentified Feldartillerie regiment wearing combined acoustic/optical locating apparatus. !is is puzzling because in Germany the anti-aircraft role was performed by the Air Service, not the artillery. !e small-aperture goggles were apparently set so that when the sound was located by turning the head, the aircraft would be visible.

Dutch Personal Parabola (1930s) In the 1930s the Dutch set up an ‘Air Watch Service', similar to the British Observer Corps, to detect incursions of foreign aircraft. It was impractical to equip the many scattered locations with the heavier and more sophisticated listening devices, so several 'personal sound locators' were developed by the Dutch military research station at Waalsdorp. !e ear-pads were inflated by mouth so that it can be accommodated to users with dierent head width.

One Eyeball by Hung-Chih Peng One Eye Ball is an attempt to experience the world from the view of dogs. !e LCD displays with the size of eyeglasses are mounted in a helmet and connected through a tube with a camera attached to the end of this trunk. !e trunk reached to just below the knee of the viewer, where a dog's eyes would normally be. Inside the helmet, the display shows what the camera records through the "dog eye". You can control the camera by hand or by moving the body and thus view the world from various perspectives.

It uses sixteen micro video cameras mounted inside of a clear helmet, with a video switching system that rapidly rotates between cameras. !e Apology Helmet helps us to apologize. !e user selects an apology from six preset options. !e user then selects the intensity of the apology ("sorry", "very sorry", "really very sorry", etc) and his or her gender for the playback voice. Once the helmet is on, the user can squeeze the strap to activate the helmet, but the apology won't start playing until the jaw is moving at an adequate speed. If the rate of jaw movement slows down too much or stops, the playback speed of the apology also slows down. !is requires the user to put some eort and attention into making the apology. !
