BLUE KNIGHT HEAD COACH LAUREN LEWICKI (WHEELING JESUIT UNIVERSITY, 2008, M.Ed. DEFIANC COLLEGE, 2010) EMAIL: LLEWICKI@URBANA.EDU PHONE: (937) 484-1385 Urbana University Athletic Director Doug Young announced the hiring of new Blue Knight women's soccer head coach Lauren Lewicki in December of 2010. Lewicki is the fourth head coach in the program's 15-year history. "We were thrilled to find someone as enthusiastic and motivated as Lauren to lead our women's soccer program," said Young. In her first season at the helm, Lewicki guided the Blue Knights to an overall mark of 5-12-1, an improvement upon the previous season. Most impressively, the Blue Knights finished 5-2-1 at home under the first-year head coach. Prior to her second season in 2012, Lewicki brought in one of the largest and most talented recruiting classes in school history. Sixteen newcomers joined the mix and helped the Blue Knights post an overall mark of 8-9-2. A tough start (0-4) and a tough finish (03) evened out one of the most successful stretches in program history that saw the Blue Knights go 7-2-2 over 6 weeks in the middle of the season. Three Blue Knights earned All-Conference honors, two were named All-Ohio, and senior Abby Pearson became the first NCAA D-II All-Region performer in the program's history. Following the season, Pearson signed to play for the Dayton Dutch Lions FC. Lewicki comes to Urbana from Defiance College, where she served as both an assistant on the men's and women's soccer teams. As a first-year assistant coach for the women's team in 2009, Lewicki guided the Yellow Jackets to a DC Classic Tournament title, and saw two of her players earn all-conference recognition. For the men, Lewicki served primarily as a goalkeeper's coach, a position she excelled at playing for NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University. At WJU, Lewicki was a three-time team captain. She led the Cardinals to a 59-26 record during her career, including a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2005. Along with being a three-time all-conference performer, Lewicki earned all-regional status in 2005 and was tabbed an NCAA Scholar Athlete in 2008. "I'm really excited to begin my career as a head coach at Urbana," Lewicki explained upon her hiring. "I believe the University and I are at similar stages of development. Urbana is new to Division II, and we're both growing. I feel like the sky's the limit for this program." The Erie, Pa., native began her coaching career working with teams at the high school and club soccer levels. She also served as a student assistant for the Cardinals in 2006 while she was sidelined due to injury. Lewicki graduated from Wheeling Jesuit in 2008 with a degree in respiratory therapy and a minor in psychology. She recently completed a Masters of Arts in Education with a Coaching Concentration at Defiance.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT KATIE BROERMAN (WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY, 2012) EMAIL: KBROERMAN@URBANA.EDU Katie Broerman joined Head Coach Lauren Lewicki's staff in the summer of 2012. Urbana is the first stop in her collegiate coaching career after a successful stint as a player at nearby NCAA Division I Wright State University. Broerman will serve the Blue Knights as a Graduate Assistant for her second season in 2013.. A four-year letterwinner at Wright State, Broerman appeared in 55 games for the Raiders as a forward and striker. Before college, Broerman starred for Mason High School in Mason, Ohio, leading the squad in scoring and assists as a junior and a senior. Broerman left Mason a First Team All-Conference performer with the school record for most goals in a single game. As a senior, she guided her Comets to an 11-5-3 mark and a second place finish in the GMC. Her squad defeated then #1 nationally-ranked Sycamore, 2-1, in their only regular season loss. Broerman played her club soccer for PRF United. Katie is the daughter of Steve Broerman and Laura Wheaton. She also has a step-mother, Sandy Broerman, a step-father, Dennis Wheaton, two brothers, Matt and Michael, two step-brothers, Chris and Josh, and two stepsisters, Ashley and Jennifer.
