travel sketches & photos

The following sketches and photographs are representation of my study abroad trip to China for six weeks during the summer of 2010. We spent four political days in Beijing, China’s “north” capital, three noodle days in Datong, a mid-sized city near Beijing known for its delicious noodles, seven spiritual days in Wutai Shan, a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the mountains, and four architectural weeks in Shanghai, the largest city in China. While in Shanghai we studied at Tongji University. We visited sites such as the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square , the Forbidden City, the CCTV tower, Olympic Park, the Hutong District, Lilong Housing, many temples, the Shanghai World Financial Center, Jinmao, The Bund, Nanjing Road, the Peace Hotel, People’s Square, the 2010 World Expo, Suzhou, the Hanging Temple, and much more. I feel as though my travel experience has opened my eyes to the cultures of the world and the opportunities I was able to experience on this trip are more than others get in a lifetime.
