Cllr Damian Boylan Contact details: Tel: 087 2244364 e-mail : As soon as all COVID-19 surveillance systems are restored, COVID-19 cases for this period will be collated and validated on the Computerised Infectious Disease Reporting (CIDR) system. As current data on COVID-19 cases is sourced from an alternative data source. Current information on COVID-19 cases should be considered provisional and subject to change. COVID-19 Vaccination Rollout

Covid-19 Latest Current Epidemiological Situation The latest news as of 3.10 pm on Sunday 27 June 340 additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed. this number of cases may change due to future data validation. 47 COVID-19 patients are in hospital, with 15 of those patients in intensive care (ICU) Ireland continues to make steady progress in relation to COVID-19 with the overall epidemiological -situation improving. However, the increasing transmission of the Delta variant is a cause for some concern. Due to the ongoing disruption to the HSE IT systems, data reporting from several COVID-19 surveillance systems is currently limited. To ensure the continued surveillance and reporting of COVID-19 cases in the wake of the cyberattack on the HSE's systems, an alternative approach to reporting daily COVID-19 case numbers was introduced on 15th May 2021. Local Enterprise Office LEO (021-4961828) Restart Grants: Business Supports:

The Vaccination Programme continues to make significant progress with over 3.6 million vaccines administered. Over 2.3 million have now received a first dose with 1.3 million fully vaccinated. Uptake remains strong overall for the vaccination programme for those age groups receiving dose one with over 99% for 80+, 97% for ages 70-79, 92% for 60-69 and 87% for 50-59. Vaccine rollout continues at pace despite the HSE cyber-attack, albeit with some impact on data reporting systems. Last week saw the highest number of weekly vaccinations to date with approximately 340,000 vaccines administered. This week the plan is to distribute ca. 300,000 – vaccines to the following groups: Cohort 2 (FHCW) – 60,000 Cohort 4 (medical conditions at very-high risk) – 15,000 through GPs Cohort 7 (medical conditions at high risk) – 50,000 Cohort 9 (open age cohorts) - 175,000 Approximately 750 Community Pharmacies will have commenced vaccinating over 50s with the single dose Janssen vaccine this week. The public reaction to pharmacists’ involvement has been positive with good levels of interest. No online registration is necessary, and people can speak directly to participating pharmacies.

08 | Blarney Business

The HSE has commenced implementation of the plan (based on NIAC recommendations) to move the dose interval for AstraZeneca vaccine from 12 to 8 weeks. It is envisaged that the HSE will have fully completed the administration of AstraZeneca by mid to end of July. The vaccination of the socially vulnerable is progressing with 3,000 vaccinations completed and with a further 300 vaccinations allocated to this pathway this week. GPs continue to offer members of the Traveller and Roma Communities COVID-19 vaccine, or will refer them to their local Vaccination Centre. Approximately 21,000 pregnant women have been offered vaccination, with 7,900 having now received a first dose. The vaccination roll-out programme continues to demonstrate agility and responsiveness to revisions to the advice on the use of vaccines and changes to vaccine delivery schedules. Further detail Ireland has opted-in to five APAs to secure vaccine supplies: BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen/J&J and CureVac. Government approval has been obtained to opt-into the sixth APA (GSK/Sanofi Pasteur), subject to the outcome of future clinical trial results. Ireland received a total of 1.18 million doses of the three approved vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca) by the end of Q1 (March 2021). Ireland expects to have received over 4.1m vaccines by the end of June (Q2) Delivery schedules for Johnson and Johnson (Janssen) in June are very negatively impacted by the FDA review of a US manufacturing facility. Delta Variant There has been a concerning rise in transmission of the Delta variant in Ireland over the past week. There has been a similar trend across other EU States. The Delta variant is now the dominant strain across much of the UK, and they are now beginning to see a rise in disease incidence and hospitalisations. The concerns regarding this variant include that it can spread more easily compared to previous variants and that there may be some reduced susceptibility to vaccines,

particularly in those who are not yet fully vaccinated. However, initial evidence also indicates that vaccines are very effective in preventing hospitalisation. Our best defence against COVID-19, including the Delta variant, is to prevent it from spreading in the first instance by continuing to follow the public health advice. It is very important that we all continue to keep our distance, maintain close contacts at a low level and meet outside where possible, wash our hands regularly, wear a mask where appropriate, and isolate and seek a free PCR test through the HSE if we have symptoms consistent with COVID-19. It is extremely important that people who are not yet fully vaccinated continue to follow the public health advice and take up the opportunity of being vaccinated as soon as it is offered to them. In addition, all non-essential international travel continues to be strongly advised against, including to and from Great Britain.

Licensing laws/outdoor dining Many of our bars and restaurants have now reopened serving outdoors, and this is giving people a welcome opportunity to safely meet with friends and family again. As An Garda Síochána have made clear, most licensed premises have behaved responsibly and those who continue to behave responsibly in controlling their premises should have nothing to worry about. The Department of Justice, in consultation with the Department of Housing and the Attorney General’s office, is working on how to provide clarity on the consumption of alcohol in designated areas outside licensed premises. It is anticipated that primary legislation will be required. Minister Humphreys has said the Government is determined to support pubs and restaurants as they reopen this summer. The Minister wants this issue to be dealt with as quickly as possible and has said she will bring the required legislation before the Oireachtas next week. 09 | Blarney Business

Meet Meet the the Members Members BIA SÁSTA Summer is a very quiet time for my business as people are on vacation or busy with their children. So, this time around, I also take time off, enjoying the feel of freedom and not to live with a time schedule. It is also the time, I am planning ahead for autumn/winter. As many businesses, mine has changed since the first lockdown and my focus has shifted to training & development rather than food events. So, I was delighted to have been asked to mentor a group of creatives which has been a revelation for me. I am currently working on training modules to help small businesses using Excel for most of their needs which will hopefully be launched early autumn. For now, I am hoping for an awesome summer.

"Joining the chamber was one of the best decisions I have made. The depth of knowledge, love for local business and support available in the chamber pays back the fee in no time.
