BETWEEN THE LANES
Welcome to Spring and September! WOW!! has the weather turned on it’s heat and charm. It’s wonderful to see such gorgeous weather again and have our swimmers in the outdoor pool with room to move, starting their long course training programs in preparation for Metro’s (Dec 2013), State (Jan 2014) and Nationals (April 2014). In the indoor pool our gorgeous young Torpedo, Motor Boat and Jet Boat swimmers are looking so professional in their BCSC caps. Our coaches are looking pretty fabulous too! They are sporting our new Club Attire. A sea or should that be…a pool of black, gold and white… it looks stunning!! September has also brings new beginnings and challenges. First with the Blacktown City Swimming Club taking on the running of the Squad Program. Very big shoes to fill, following the success of MySwim’s years of swimming and coaching. A huge, challenging role for us but one we have accepted and initiated. Please be patient if those little hiccups occur along the way… we are learning along the way as well. It is also with great pleasure that Blacktown welcomes our new coach, MARK BULL to the Blacktown Squads. By the time most of you read this… Mark will have commenced his coaching with Blacktown (September 16th). Definitely a welcome addition to our current coaching team. Maybe some nervous moments for our new coach and also our swimmers as they get to know each other. I’m sure that with patience and time wonderful swimming results and friendships with occur between coach and swimmer. Mark… we look forward to having you with us. If you’re new to swimming or Club nights - interested in competitive swimming - there are some great long course carnivals on the calendar for the 2013/14 season. Skins Knock Out Race - Sunday 14 Sept, 2013 Our new coach, Mark Bull had one of our National swimmers, Aaron Morelli, attend a special knockout ‘Skins’ swimming event, held at Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre, Baulkham Hills. Blacktown was invited to have a swimmer represent us on the day. One event … Contested between 6 highly competitive swimmers from The Hills (Waves), Liverpool, Cherrybrook Carlile and Blacktown. Each 50m lap is fast and furious, with only 40 seconds between each lap - that 40 seconds includes getting out of the water and back to the starting block. Again… these guys are awesome. The last swimmer is eliminated from each round until there is only one swimmer left - the winner! Aaron was eliminated early but all credit to his amazing swimming and representing Blacktown on the day. Each lap… the result was in the touch.
