The Oak Bay United Church Bring It On Cabaret season opens Friday, Sept. 18 with featured headliners. Three Divas. April Gislason, Marty Meszaros and Shanna Dance are highly accomplished singers of differing styles, who will sing individually and as a trio.

All three have appeared at the cabaret over the previous years. Cabaret producer Jim Ricks admits he wasn’t sure how it would work out to have the women perform together. “I had a gut feeling that since they are all highly skilled and very professional in their approach, they would blend well,” Ricks said. “Our first rehearsal, their musical harmony and friendly interaction just blew me away.” The cabaret at Oak Bay United Church, is held the third Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. It combines an open microphone show where people of all skill levels
can perform in front of warm audience of 90 to 100 people. The second part of the show features professional-level performers who enjoy working in a great environment with an appreciative audience. Also featured on the program this week will be a teaser from the coming show, Musical of Musicals, the band Just Jim and Friends, singers Jared GafterRicks, Rowan Wolfe and Amanda Engel, and monologist Braden Corby. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Admission is $5 with coffee and treats available at breaks. Guests can also participate in a door prize draw. cvanreeuwyk@oakbaynews.com
