Notice of Public Hearing Notice is hereby given that City Council will hold a Public Hearing to hear representations of interested persons or persons who deem their interest in property affected by the below-mentioned bylaw at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 3400 - 30th Street, Vernon, B.C.: Zoning Text (Employee Housing) Amendment Bylaw Number 5493, 2014 Applicant: City of Vernon Purpose: A bylaw which proposes a text amendment to Zoning Bylaw #5000 to add employee housing as a primary use within the RTC - Resort Commercial zoning district, to add specific definitions for employee housing, amend the definitions for “sleeping unit” and “dwelling”, and to add specific development and parking regulations for employee housing. The proposed amendments would permit employee housing to be contained within dormitory units or self-contained dwelling units on any lot within the RTC - Resort Commercial zoning district. Enquiries relative to the above proposed bylaw should be directed to the Planning Department, located at the Community Services Building, 3001 - 32nd Avenue, Vernon, B.C. or by calling 250-550-3634. Copy of the bylaw and relevant background documents are available for inspection during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.), Monday to Friday inclusive (excluding Statutory Holidays) from May 20 to May 26, 2014. Any correspondence relating to this application can be delivered to the Corporate Officer, City of Vernon, 3400 - 30th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 5E6 or by sending an email to phearings@vernon.ca. All correspondence and petitions received between May 18, 2014 (the date of notification) and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014 shall be copied and circulated to the members of City Council for consideration before the Public Hearing. Any submissions received after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014 will not be accepted. Correspondence and emails must include your name and civic address. You may present your verbal submissions and speaking notes at the Public Hearing. If you are unable to attend, you may appoint an agent to act on your behalf. Affordable Housing Advisory Committee Request to Fill One (1) Volunteer Position The Council of the Corporation of the City of Vernon is seeking to fill one (1) position on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee from the community at large. The Committee’s objective is to provide Council with recommendations on affordable housing needs, on the effectiveness and value of existing or proposed projects to develop affordable housing and to hear and consider representations by organizations or citizens with respect to housing concerns. Request to Fill Five (5) Volunteer Positions TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Council of the Corporation of the City of Vernon is seeking to fill three (3) positions on Council’s new Transportation Advisory Committee - three (3) members from the community at large, two of which shall have a background in accessibility for the disabled / mobility impaired. The Committee’s purpose is to provide City Council with recommendations on referred matters relating to the City’s transportation networks and the safe movement of goods and people; to review and provide comments on matters related to road transit, pedestrian and cycle networks and emerging accessibility and road safety issues; and make recommendations on appropriate funding sources for strategies that result in more efficient use of transportation resources in Vernon. The Committee will meet as and when required. ADVISORY PLANNING COMMITTEE The Council of the Corporation of the City of Vernon is seeking to fill two (2) new positions on Council’s Advisory Planning committee. The members from the community at large shall have a background in accessibility for the disabled / mobility impaired. The Committee’s purpose is to provide City Council with advice and recommendations on proposed land use and planning changes, and related matters. The Committee meets every two weeks on the Tuesday following Council’s Regular Meeting. If you are interested in serving the community on either of these committees, you may pick up a copy of the Terms of Reference and a volunteer application form at the reception desk at City Hall, or visit our website at vernon.ca/committees.
