Fun shoot attracts a crowd The Williams Lake Sportsmen’s Association hosted a fun target shooting competition March 9 at the Williams Lake Rod and Gun Club. “This event was a first time event co-ordinated to generate a fun and competitive atmosphere with youth in target shooting and was well attended,” said WLSA president Terry Chupa. Events included .22 lucky numbers, .22 bull’s eye target and .22

silhouettes. At long range competitors used hunting rifles to test their prowess at 100 metres with gopher targets and a best group target. They then moved over to a 200 metre metal gong target, made by one of the competitors, Matt Armes. The top overall scored went to Cassidy Chupa, while best group at long range was Armes, Cassidy and Olund Mork. The top gopher shot

was Cassidy, while Morgyn Black picked up second. The top metal silhouette shooter was Zach Herrick, while Mork sniped the top lucky target award. In bull’s eye .22, Armes took the win. Match director was Caroline Chupa, with assistance from Black, Tim Lessard, Terry and WLSA range safety officers. “We’d like to extend a very warm thank you

to all of our donors for making generous contributions toward the prizes awarded to the competitors and the many volunteers that showed up to assist in the events and lunch,” Terry said. “The success of this event and positive feedback will entertain the notion of its reoccurrence.” For future youth events check the WLSA’s website at www. williamslakesportsmen. ca.
