GARAGE FIRE KILLS TWO PETS September 1 VAN NUYS - A fire was reported at 5:51pm in the 7000 Block of Bevis Avenue. 66 Firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the flames within 22 minutes. The blaze ripped through the garage and extended to the attic and home. Sadly, two of three pet dogs perished in the fast-moving fire.

VALLEY VILLAGE - 21 people were injured when a Metrolink train headed for Downtown Los Angeles hit a tractor-trailer that was crossing the tracks in the 8200 block of San Fernando Road at 10:39am. Approximately 75 Firefighters arrived on the scene to find five train cars carrying 187 passengers with several injured individuals. Firefighters jumped into action, triaging the incident and quickly rendering medical aid to the victims. A total of 21 passengers were transported to local hospitals.
