ECHO PARK HOUSE FIRE May 2 ECHO PARK - A fire broke out at 3:25pm in the 600 block of Echo Park Avenue where an unattended cigarette sparked a fire that seriously damaged a home and killed two cats. When the 86 Firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was well-involved in flames. With air support from an LAFD helicopter in windy conditions, crews extinguished the blaze in 25 minutes, but two residents of the home were displaced.

FIRE BLAZES AT VENICE BUSINESS May 7 VENICE - A fire was reported at the rear of a one-story medical marijuana business in the 400 block of South Lincoln Boulevard. Working in conjunction with Santa Monica Firefighters, the flames were contained to a 14’ x 20’ addition to the business and no injuries were reported.

FATAL APARTMENT BLAZE May 14 EAST HOLLYWOOD - A fire broke out in a two-story garden apartment shortly after 12:30pm in the 1500 block of North Hobart Street. A total of 32 Firefighters arrived on the scene to billowing smoke coming from a first-floor unit. Crews fully extinguished the flames in 11 minutes and prevented further damage to adjoining units. Sadly, a 73-year-old resident in the apartment was found unconscious and beyond medical help and was declared dead at the scene.
