Diagnostic Medical Sonography 

A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, also known as a sonographer, utilizes a transducer, which uses sound waves to obtain images of various organs and tissues in the body. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program prepares you to perform abdominal, superficial, gynecological, obstetrical, and vascular ultrasounds during clinical internship experiences. You will put your classroom knowledge to the test in a real-world environment, preparing you for the career opportunities waiting for you after graduation.

Medical Laboratory Technician 

If you enjoy science, technology and the challenges of problem solving, learn how to work behind the scenes as a vital part of a healthcare team. The analytical procedures medical laboratory technicians provide serve as the basis for 75-80 percent of all medical decisions made by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The curriculum at BSC allows you to begin employment after graduation or transfer into a four-year medical laboratory science program. Options includea two-year or three-year curriculum. You’ll recieve the training and confidence you need to sail through certification and move on to apply the hands-on, hard-earned skills in the healthcare field.

Nursing 

Nursing education is organized as a career ladder that begins with Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training at BSC. Graduates can earn an 11-month Practical Nursing Certificate, then upon meeting requirements, advance to the Associated Degree Nurse (ADN) program and go on to earn a Registered Nurse (RN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Classroom education is delivered by instructors on campus and from other colleges in the Dakota Nursing consortium through the Interactive Video Network (IVN). Clinical and lab practice occurs at local sites.

People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of EMTs, AEMTs and paramedics. Emergencies as varied as auto accidents, heart attacks, strokes, childbirth, gunshot wounds and diabetic emergencies all require immediate medical attention. Combine your listening skills with your technical skills for a rewarding career saving lives as a first responder on the frontline.

Surgical Technology 

If you want to be a member of a surgical assistance team, a strong technical understanding of procedures is essential for the well-being of patients. That’s why Surgical Technology technicians are so vital and why they’re in high demand throughout the nation in hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and clinics. At BSC, you’ll learn how to ensure patient safety in settings that involve invasive procedures and gain expertise in the theory and use of sterile and aseptic techniques.
