KLJ is proud to announce that Brad Krogstad and Travis Wieber have graduated from the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Dakota (ACEC/ND) Emerging Leadership Institute. The three-year program Brad Krogstad fosters emerging engineering leaders by imparting skills and competencies CEOs have identified as critical components of leadership success. Krogstad works in the Municipal group in Bismarck. He earned bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. Krogstad has led Travis Wieber the civil engineering design for major projects such as Shiloh Christian School Arts and Athletic Complex, Sunrise Town Centre, Lions (Hillside) Park and Pool, and Whispering Bay in Bismarck and 4 Bears Casino and Event Center in New Town. Wieber works in the Surface Transportation group in Fargo. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. Wieber has led several significant transportation projects including the Watford City Bypass, Sheyenne Street Reconstruction in Fargo and East Century Avenue Reconstruction in Bismarck.

DeLana Wendland is the new Vice President of Student Services. She recently moved back to North Dakota from Arizona. She is from Devils Lake ND. She previously worked at UTTC as Director of Enrollment Services, Financial Aid Manager and Business faculty. Melissa Buffalo is the Executive Assistant to the President. Melissa is a UTTC Graduate with a BS in Business Administration Shawn Burke is the new Land Grant Director. Shawn replaces Pat Aune. He is from South Dakota and has a MS in Earth Resources/Watershed management and a Masters certificate in Project Management. Arlin Haider is the new Heavy Equipment Operator Instructor in Academics. Arlin is graduate of Fort Yates High School and attended Bismarck State College. He brings 30 years of experience to share with HEO Students. He recently relocated back to North Dakota from Colorado. Larime Plainfeather is the Transportation Development Specialist in TTAP. A UTTC Graduate with a BS in Business Administration. Wilma Teton is the new MBDA/NWAF Technician in Institutional Resources. Wilma is a graduate of Haskell Indian Nations University with an Associate degree in Business Administration. She is an enrolled member of Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and is a speaker of her native language. Amber Warman is the new Domestic Violence Advocate in Wellness. Amber is a UTTC graduate with a BS in Criminal Justice. She is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Tribe.

EMC Insurance Announces Promotions and New Hires in Bismarck

EMC Insurance Companies announces three promotions and two new hires at the Brandon Hickcox Bismarck Branch in North Dakota. In the underwriting department, Brandon Hickcox, Carissa Bonner and Kevin Bowen have been promoted to underwriter II. Brandon Hickcox has been with EMC since May 2014. He has a Carissa Bonner bachelor’s degree in construction management with a minor in business administration from North Dakota State University. Brandon has the Associate in General Insurance (AINS) and Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) designations and is working on the Chartered Kevin Bowen Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He is currently underwriting in the state of Oregon. Carissa Bonner has been with EMC since September 2015. Prior to EMC, she worked in the captive and independent agency system. Carissa has Bradley Scott Rose her associate’s degree with a focus in business from Yavapai College in Arizona. She has her property and casualty license, the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist designation and is currently working on the AINS designation. She will be underwriting in the state of Stephanie Hill Oregon. Kevin Bowen has been with EMC since September 2015. Kevin has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He has the AINS designation and is currently working towards the AU designation. He will be underwriting in the state of Idaho. Joining the EMC claims team in the Bismarck Branch are Bradley Scott Rose and Stephanie Hill. Bradley Scott Rose has accepted the position of claims adjuster II. Scott has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Westminster College and a juris doctorate from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. In addition to his education, he has worked in a variety of different law positions for both the prosecution and defense and served four years in the United States Marine Corps. Stephanie Hill has accepted the position of claims representative. Stephanie has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resources from Dickinson State University. She has two years of experience working directly in claims and more than 10 years of experience in customer service.

Lockridge Grindal Nauen Hires Travnicek

Lockridge Grindal Nauen (LGN) is excited to announce a major addition to its growing North Dakota state government relations team today with the hiring of Andrea Travnicek, Ph.D. Dr. Travnicek previously Dr. Andrea Travnicek served as a Senior Policy Advisor to outgoing Governor Jack Dalrymple and former Governor John Hoeven. Dr. Travnicek will be joining the LGN team on December 15, 2016 as Manager of Government Relations & Regulatory Affairs in the firm’s new Bismarck, ND office. In addition to supporting LGN’s growing state government relations business, Dr. Travnicek will help grow and manage the firm’s regional footprint outside of the North Dakota state capitol, lending her expertise and relationship network to the firm’s business-to-business, regional lobbying management, and regulatory practice areas. Prior to her work in the Governor’s office, Dr. Travnicek worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Sacramento, California, a Bismarck-based environmental consulting firm, and for a non-profit in Washington D.C. She holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Management and Environmental Communication from North Dakota State University.

Felchle Named Health Advisor of the Month

Dakota Eye Institute Team Member Completes Certification

Terri Kaseman of Dakota Eye Institute recently completed certification as an Ophthalmic Terri Kaseman Coding Specialist (OCS). OCS designation confirms Kaseman’s expertise and proficiency specific to coding for ophthalmology services. The online test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions focusing on all aspects of coding for ophthalmology. The American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives (AAOE) and the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) are partners in offering this exam.
