JAZZ COMPOSERS’ BIG BAND

Hear Reich’s iconic masterpiece, Drumming as performed by the Conservatoire’s Percussion Department. Inspired by Reich’s studies in Ghana, it is a transcendent and dramatic tapestry of pounding bongos, mesmerising marimbas, glassy glockenspiels and female voices, with an irresistible sense of momentum.

4 Dec The Cello Sonatas 11 Dec The Piano Quartets This is a landmark series, introducing the newly appointed Head of Chamber Music with Piano, Daniel Tong. Working with students and colleagues across the Keyboard, String, Wind and Brass departments, this presents arguably the most diverse and ravishing body of chamber music. Further dates will follow in the spring and summer seasons, and full details of the Completely Brahms series will be available, along with performers, in October. Tonight’s concert will feature a selection of arrangements of tunes by Thelonious Monk and George Russell, as well as premières of new compositions.
