3.3.2 B) 1. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Jandakot Airport 2009 aluminium Âź series for the Airport Corporation. This commission was inspired by DaVinci studies in hydrodynamics. 3.3.2 B) 1. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Mindarie Marina This sculpture is produced from steel plate (50mmthick) and incorporates a large amount of subsurface raft foundation as specified through engineering consultation to alleviate subsidence. The sculpture form (top) was developed with ongoing engineering feedback specifically to allow for coastal conditions.

Museum Bikelab Perth Museum Foyer. This sculpture celebrates the culmination of 6 months BIKELAB project residencies directed with the Awesome Festival.

Z-Force Project still in progress 2010 Image shows opening day. This project incorporated directly working within the City of Rockingham to refine and oversee the landscaping of the public open space adjacent to the Palm Beach Jetty. This sculpture design was completed with a mentoreeship offered to local artists. Seating (in progress) is being completed from jetty material with Challenger TAFE students.

Turbine Form 他 airport series. In progress at artists previous workspace. 12mm plate steel. This work was designed as a set of components through collaboration with a computer animator.

3.3.2 C) EXPERIENCE WORKING IN COLLABORATION Philosophy I believe intrinsically in the mutability of artistic concepts. In my teaching of Public Art at Challenger TAFE I engage my students in the design,business, acumen and practical implementation aspects of my public projects. I always enjoy the challenge of working with other creative people and in the context of Public projects I believe that this produces better end results. So I have welcomed this approach from Mal Birch and Andrew Tomlins to work as a team on this project. Because I am centrally a practical person my focus extends to the practical implementation of designs and concepts. Some recent experiences of working within a project team that involved a high level of collaboration with the landscaping include;

City of Rockingham Palm Beach Jetty POA project + City of Rockingham Gary Holland Community Centre

These projects incorporated a very high percentage of collaboration and also channelled input from mentorees. This allowed local artists to gain experience in the project teams and to input into the design and fabrication of the artworks. Perth Airport Corporation

This series of 4 large scale sculptures incorporated the establishment of specific environments which were created in consultation with the landscaping architects and implemented ‘in house’ through a propagation program on site. This was designed as a staged process where the sculptures have been designed for relocation into a ‘living stream’ concept associated with the future redirection of the Leach Highway. On this project we worked with a set of native species that could produce a backdrop and ones that could produce a ground plain. East Perth /Gasworks Project Plan-E

This was the site of a previous industrial gas works on the West bank of the Swan River. I worked with the landscapers to develop a landscaping plan and a set of designs for large scale sculptures that directly reflected the morphology of the native planting species.

Salentina Ridge Redevelopment Earthcare

This involved collaboration from the very beginning of the project where I was invited to help peg out the previously industrial site to determine the shape and look of the POA. We worked up sculpture and architecture outcomes which then incorporated salvaged timber and metal from the site.
