Wave 4 Instructions Gate River Run March 15, 2014 Sports Complex Area 8:30 AM - Wave 1 Start - Bibs 1 to 5,000 8:36 AM - Wave 2 Start – Bibs 5,001 to 11,000 8:44 AM - Wave 3 Start – Bibs 11,001 to 17,000 8:48 AM - Wave 4 Start – Bibs 17,001- 20,000

You have been assigned to start in Wave 4 (Pink Section), which is for runners that plan to run 15-minute miles or slower and walkers. All bib numbers between 17,001 and 20,000 should start in this Wave, which is located at the corner of Georgia and Adams Streets next to the baseball field. There will be a water station, bag check and toilets in your area.

Visit gate-riverrun.com to confirm your bib number, obtain a pick up authorization form if you need someone else to pick up your packet, and get complete up-to-date information on the race.

Race Bib/Chip and shirt pickup will be held in Hall B at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds, 510 Fairgrounds Place on Thursday, March 13th (11 AM until 6 PM) and Friday, March 15th (11 AM until 8 PM). If you paid the $5 Saturday pickup fee available for out-of-town runners, you may pick up your race items on Saturday from 6:30 AM to 8:15 AM. • Strollers are not allowed in the 15K race. Wave 4 Location Runners and walkers with bib numbers 17,001 and 20,000 must start in this Wave 4 in the Pink Zone. Large pink wind flags will mark this area, which is located at the corner of Georgia and Adams Streets next to the baseball field. You will have your own starting mats and will not go under the main starting line.

Runner’s Village Toilets, water, and a bag check will be located in parking lot J near the Stadiums tailgate zone.

Lining up for the Start Walkers should like up at the walker flags with the 15-minute runners in front of them.

Starting the Race Wave 1 will start at 8:30 AM, Wave 2 will start around 8:36 AM followed by Wave 3 are 8:44 SM. As soon Wave 3 clears the corner of Georgia and Gator Bowl Blvd. your wave will be instructed to start.

Start Aerial Please review the start aerial at the link below before reporting to the starting line. Make sure you know where you should be. Please allow plenty of time to arrive at the race early. Traffic will be very heavy, parking will take more time than usual, and you may have to walk a quarter of a mile or more to get to your starting area.

Know the finish line Please review the finish line layout at the link below. When you cross the finish line timing mats, please keep moving. If you stop and walk or bend over, you will be causing congestion in this area. Remember the finishers behind you are still running. Water will be to your left.

Finisher Medals The medals will be distributed all the way at the back of the finish area. You will be given a bottle of water (one bottle per runner please) then you will be directed to the medal distribution area. Remember you must turn in the medal tag at the bottom of your bid at the time you receive your medal. Do no remove the tag until asked to do so.

Do Not Stand and Wait in the Finish Area We have to process close to 20,000 runners in a small area so there is not any room to stand and wait for other runners inside the fenced finish area. Please wait for other runners outside the finish area or back at the Post-race Celebration area at the Fairgrounds

Plan A Meeting Place We will have large colored flags located around the Fairgrounds. The colors are as follows: Yellow

Green

Orange

Pink

Purple

Brown

Black

Please choose a color and plan to meet your family and friends there.

Race results and Runner Tracking Instant results and runner tracking will be available on RaceJoy (a free cell phone app that can be downloaded form Itunes or Google). RaceJoy will update the results as soon as runners cross the 5K, 10K, and finish. Complete results will be posted at 1stplacesports.com and jacksonville.com after the race. You have been assigned to start in Wave 3, which is the Purple Zone located inside the Tailgate Cabana area at the south end of EverBank Field. All bib numbers between 11,001 and 17,000 (purple background behind bib number) must report to the Purple Zone to start the race. This zone will have its own restrooms, bag check and water station.

Wave 3 Location The Purple Zone is located in the EverBank Field Tailgate Cabana Area located on the south side of the Stadium between parking lots J and D. You can identify this area by large purple flags and banner located at the entrance to that zone. You can enter the Purple Zone from either parking lot J or parking lot D. Security guards will be located at the gate to insure that only runners with the Purple background behind their race bib number enter this area.

Runner’s Village Once inside the gate of the Purple Zone you will find public restrooms located in the northwest and northeast corners of the area. There are lots of restrooms in the tailgate zone, plus there will be a bank of toilets in parking lot D on the east side of field that you can use. There will also be a water station and a bag check area. If you check a bag, you can pick the bag up at the large Bag Check/Claim tent just outside the finish line exit on the west side of the stadium.

Lining up for the Start We will have 12, 13 and 14-minute per mile pace flags posted inside the Purple Zone. Please line up in your proper pace area by 8:15 AM. Walking is not allowed. Please try to line up according to the pace you plan to average for the entire run. Do not stand in front of the entrance to the zone.

Starting the Race Wave 1 with the top 5,000 seeded runners will start at 8:30 AM. We will then start Wave 2, which should be lined up on Gator Bowl Blvd just behind Wave 1. All Wave 3 participants should stay inside the Tailgate Zone until Wave 2 has moved away from the gate that exits onto Gator Bowl Blvd on the south side of the Tailgate Zone. At that point you can start moving onto Gator Bowl Blvd.


Please stay behind the volunteers carrying the rope. They will walk you up to the starting line to start the race. We anticipate that you will start around 8:44 AM. Following these instructions should give you more room to run throughout the course.
