The Catered Affair (TCA) has grown in 32 years from a small home-based business to one of New England’s largest catering companies. With a 15,000-square-foot commissary, warehouse, and office located minutes from major highways, TCA covers all of eastern New England. TCA’s national reputation for excellence in food and service has been the reason that clients from throughout the country have used TCA for events in the New England area. The history of TCA is a classic example of an entrepreneur developing an avocation into a vocation. As an enthusiastic amateur chef and party-giver, founder Holly Safford was encouraged by her friends and guests to consider becoming a caterer. In the late 1970s, with the New American Cuisine movement taking hold, the Boston area was hungry for someone to take event catering to the next level. Starting out in her home with a few cookbook recipes, a modest kitchen, and a flair for entertaining, Ms. Safford was soon a household name among the Bostonarea food cognoscenti. Working with Julia Child as a recipe tester solidified her reputation as one of Boston’s leading food experts. TCA and Holly Safford’s rise to success paralleled that of the Boston restaurant scene, with the area becoming known as a major food destination for both restaurants and catering. In a sophisticated and demanding market with high expectations for excellence, TCA’s position as Boston’s

preeminent full-service caterer has made it the provider of choice for many of the most important events in recent memory. The number of major celebrities, political figures, and even royalty who have enjoyed TCA’s cuisine is practically too long to list. Long known as a superb wedding caterer, TCA has also been extremely successful in developing other markets, including the corporate, educational, nonprofit, and social event sectors. TCA also offers a broad range of products, from superb casual barbecue catering to the five-star quality food for which it is justly renowned. It has also been an innovator in developing an online presence and has ongoing relationships with most of the major event venues in the area. Holly Safford’s sons, Andrew and Alex Marconi, have been involved in managing the business for many years and are highly regarded in their own areas of expertise. The company also employs several highly regarded food service professionals, including a superb culinary and service staff. The company has recently finished a complete renovation and modernization of its facility in Rockland, Massachusetts, and achieved $10 million in revenue for the first time. As of 2012, TCA has been in business for more than 32 years. With a strong reputation, skilled staff, and strong balance sheet, the company is well positioned for growth for decades to come.

the fine print EVENT DESIGN & COORDINATION We offer complete logistical support – including event design, vendor management, and on-site coordination – to ensure that you are able to fully immerse yourself in the enjoyment of the day. Your event producer will provide a customized menu of services to achieve and exceed your vision. With an intimate knowledge of the area’s best vendors, we will work on your behalf to negotiate contracts, manage your planning timeline and budget, and execute every detail to design the wedding of your dreams. VENUES The Catered Affair has many years of experience operating in many of the most complex and demanding wedding sites in the New England area. Please visit our venue page at Thecateredaffair.com/venues PRICING The Catered Affair offers full-service weddings, including menu, staff, and serviceware, beginning at $185 per guest. The menu would typically include passed hors d’oeuvres, a two-course dinner and a custom wedding cake. We provide a full staff, including service staff, bartenders, and chefs, as well as complete china settings, glassware, flatware, and all serviceware for your wedding day. Supplemental charges may be added for table, chair, and linen rental pending venue and specific item selection. Beverages are not included in the per guest estimated cost.

STAFF The Catered Affair employs a highly skilled staff of event managers to oversee your entire event from start to finish. These are true event professionals, most with decades of event management experience. One or several of these event managers will be dedicated to your event exclusively on this most important day. Our culinary staff, under the direction of Executive Chef Shane O’Neill, includes chefs from many of Boston’s most prestigious kitchens, including five-star restaurants and hotels. The Catered Affair operates its own pastry department, offering some of the most creative and delicious desserts in the area. We also have on our roster hundreds of trained catering staff, including waiters, bartenders, and wine stewards. All staff is consistently evaluated for skill development and rated for excellence, and all bartenders and wine stewards are TIPS certified.

RENTALS The Catered Affair operates its own specialty rental warehouse, including selections of china and glassware that are offered only by The Catered Affair. We also offer a broad range of linen selections. BEVERAGE SERVICE The Catered Affair is licensed and insured to provide all alcoholic beverages for your event. Our in-house beverage manager, in coordination with your event producer, can assist you in selecting the perfect wine pairing for your menu.
