Network adaptor setup on Windows XP (LAN & WI-FI)

MENUS ARE BASED ON XP SP2 PROFESSIONAL, IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER VERSION IT MAY DIFFER.

Note that the following three point, do not apply for all users.

I.

Open Services, which is fund in Administrative Tools under the Start menu. If Administrative Tools is not present in the Start menu, you can activate it by right clicking on the Start menu, select Properties, and select Customize Start menu.

II.

Open the Windows Zero Configuration (WZC) service by double-clicking or right clicking and select Properties.

III.

Select Automatic in Startup type and Start service. Press OK to close the menu

Open Manage by right clicking My Computer.

II.

Select Services in the Services and programs menu.

III.

Open the Wired AutoConfig Service service by double-clicking or right clicking and select Properties.

Select Automatic in Startup type and Start service. Press OK to close the menu

1. Open Connect To menu or Network Connections link from the Start menu or by right clicking on My Network Places on the desktop and selecting Properties.

2. Right click on Local Area Connection and select Properties.

3. In the Authentication tab, mark Enable IEEE 802.1X authentication for this network. From the dropdown menu EAP type, select Protected EAP (PEAP). Unmark Authenticate as computer when computer information is available. Press Properties.

4. Unmark Validate server certificate and mark Enable Fast Reconnection. Press Configure‌

5. Unmark Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any).

6. Press OK twice to close the menus.

7. In the Networking tab, select Properties for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

8. In the General tab, mark Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.

9. Press OK twice to close the menus.

10. Press the popup message.

11. Type the provided username, password, and BIKUBEN in domain.

This applies to both cabled net (LAN) and wireless net (WI-FI). If you have any problems, contact Network Council (NetvĂŚrksudvalget).
