Introduction to Google Analytics If you don’t already have a Google Analytics account, you can set one up for free by going to http://www.google.com/analytics/. If you have an account, skip to the section for Granting faithHighway access to your account. Click the orange “Create an account” button. You may add this Analytics account to a pre-existing Google account or sign up for a new account. If you need to create a Google Account, then click the red “Sign Up” button in the top right corner. Once you have signed up with Google go back to http://www.google.com/analytics/ and click the orange “Create an account” button. Now, sign into your account. You will be redirected, click the Sign Up now link. You will be prompted to enter the following information: 1. Website Name: This can have caps and spaces. 2. Web Site URL: This should be the direct link to your site. 3. Industry Category: We would suggest “Education” 4. Reporting Time Zone: Set as your time zone 5. Account Name: This should be the same as the Website Name above. 6. Click blue “Get Tracking ID” button. 7. Agree to the terms of Service.
1. Select “What are tracking?” Unless you have a specific subdomain (i.e. blog.domain.com) you will simply select “A single domain.” 2. You will then be given an embed code. 3. Copy this code and send it to your account manager to have this implemented into the pages of your site. 4. Click Save and Finish.
Grant faithHighway Access to Your Account Access your analytics account by going to http://www.google.com/analytics/ and clicking the “Sign in” button. 1. Click Admin in the upper right hand corner 2. Select your account 3. Click Users 4. Click “+New User”
5. Enter the email address email@example.com 6. Select the Access type for this user: User 7. Add the “All Web Site Data” profile to Selected profiles from Available profiles. 8. Click Create User
