The Bears picked up first downs on their first three runs, then saw their drive stall when the Demon defense stopped Lee for a 7-yard loss on 3rd and 3, forcing a punt at the start of the second quarter. The teams traded punts on the next two possessions with Beggs starting its second offensive series of the second quarter at its own 42 with 7:51 left before halftime. The Demons moved the ball down to the JM 25 and appeared to tie the game on a 25-yard TD pass from Dalton Spring to E.J. Smoot on the seventh play of the drive, as Smoot leaped high into the air to make a reception in the end zone. The 25-yard score was erased, however, on an offensive pass interference penalty on the play. The Demons saw another promising drive stall with a turnover on downs at the JM 24 with 4:45 remaining in the first half. Neither team was able to reach the end zone on their remaining offensive possessions of the first half, sending the Class 3A state championship game to the halftime break with the Demons trailing by six, 6-0. The Beggs defense forced a punt by John Marshall on the first series of the second half, taking over at the Beggs 31 with 9:33 left in the third quarter. A 39-yard scamper by T.J. Austin on 3rd and 5 moved the ball into John Marshall territory at the JM 25. After picking up five yards total on the next two plays after Austin's long run, the Demons went into their 'Wildcat' formation with Kobe Haynes taking the snap from center. After receiving the snap, Haynes bolted through the middle of the line and raced 20 yards to paydirt for the Demons' first score of the contest with 6:46 remaining in the third quarter. Carson Siegenthaler
the Bears back in front, 12-7. Jarod Leviston found Jared Leviston on the conversion attempt to extend John Marshall's lead to seven, 14-7, with 5:15 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Beggs offense went three and out on its next series, punting the ball back to John Marshall with 4:30 left in regulation. The Demon defense forced John Marshall into a 4th and 1 from the Beggs 29 and needed one final defensive stop to give the Beggs offense another chance at a scoring opportunity. Lee muscled his way for a 2-yard gain on the fourth-down play, giving the Bears another fresh set of downs at the Beggs 27 with 1:30 left in regulation. John Marshall ran off the remaining time on the gameclock to hand the Demons the heartbreaking 14-7 defeat and a state runner-up finish.

came on and split the uprights with the PAT kick to put Beggs in front, 7-6. An interception by B.J. Williams at the Beggs 10 with 2:27 left in the third ended John Marshall's next offensive series with Williams returning the intercepted pass 20 yards to the Beggs 30. The Demons once again were unable take advantage of a defensive stop, punting the ball back to John Marshall with 1:43 remaining in the third period. The Bears ran out the remaining time in the third quarter and began the final frame with a 2nd and 10 situation at their own 45. Four plays into the final period, Beggs' Jaidan Grayson appeared to come away with the Demons' third takeaway on defense in the contest with an interception in Beggs territory. The turnover was erased, however, as Beggs was flagged for defensive pass
interference on the play, giving John Marshall a fresh set of downs at the Beggs 30. The drive stalled four plays later when the Beggs' Tyler Wells tackled Lee for a 1-yard loss on 4th and 3 at the Beggs 23 with 8:44 left in regulation. The Demons' drive ended two plays later when John Marshall's Che'don Caldwell intercepted a pass at the JM 43 with 8:34 remaining in the final stanza. Grayson ended the ensuing John Marshall drive with an interception at the Beggs 12 with 7:44 left in the final frame. The Beggs offense continued to struggle against the John Marshall defense, punting the ball back to the Bears with 5:26 left in regulation.
