El cartel, como medio de expresión, siempre ha sido y será importante. El buen cartel es como una ventana que en esencia comunica, pero también tiene la capacidad de informar y ser un medio idóneo para expresar ideas y sentimientos; lo hace a través de la creación de conceptos que nos llevan más allá de lo ordinario. Al indagar sobre el cartel podemos observar que sensiblemente propone, deleita y sublima, nos conduce al goce; sin embargo también puede ser un medio con el cual se critica, se expone, se protesta y hasta se grita la demanda de un sector social en determinado momento de la historia. Es así un objeto cultural con multiplicidad de funciones. A través de él podemos entablar un diálogo interno: con su carga visual, estética y emocional nos provee un instante de reflexión sobre las diferentes formas de pensar y percibir la vida; el cartel es esa ventana que nos permite ampliar nuestra percepción de lo que creemos y pensamos. Asimismo es un objeto que encapsula, en espacio y tiempo, eventos o situaciones determinadas de la vida, convirtiéndose en un documento de referencia para conocer –y reconocernos– como parte de la historia. Debido a esto provee de riqueza y vitalidad al hombre, en eso consiste su valor y trascendencia.
The poster as a mean of expression has been and will always be very important. A good poster is like a window, with the primary purpose of showing us a picture. But it also has the power to inform, and it is an adequate mean to express feelings and ideas. Posters make it possible - through the creation of concepts - to lead us somewhere beyond the ordinary. When researching the poster, we observe how it thoughtfully suggests, satisfies, and sublimes. It creates satisfaction. At the same time, the poster gives voice to criticism, it exposes, it protests and it speaks up for society, now and throughout history. All this renders the poster a multicultural object with different objectives. Through the poster, we can strike an internal dialogue; its visual, esthetical and emotional insight provides us with a moment of reflection on all the different ways of thinking and on how to take life in. The poster is therefore a window that allows us to broaden our perception of what we think and believe. It is also an object that encloses, within time and space, certain events or situations; it becomes a reference point that will mark a part of history. Thanks to this, the poster gives us richness and vitality, and it is there where the importance of its value and transcendence resides.
