Regulations Exhibition of Plastic Arts
CHAPTER I Denominatlon and Purposes The X Bienal de São Paulo, an International Exhibition of Arts, organized and managed by the "Fundação Bienal de S. Paulo", will take place from September 1969 to December 1969 and is destined to bring together reresentative works of modem art.
Exhibltlon of Plastic Arts The Exhibition of Plastic Arts will include: a) Brazilian representation b) foreign representation c) special rooms Foreign Representatlon I - The foreign representation will consist of exhibitioris of the participating countries and of exhibitions which the "Bienal" may solicit. Each country is responsible for its selection; 11 - The Government of each participating country shall appoint a Cornissioner, who shall be solely and exclusively respnsible to the "Bienal" and who shall; a) send to the "Bienal", not later than April 30th 1969, the entry forms, the biographical notes of the entrants, photographs of the works to be exhibited on the back of which should be inscribed the narne of the country, the author, title, date and technique, for information an publicity, documentation for the files and catalogue and price list; b) send a short preface for publication in the general catalogue, the text of which should have no more than 30 (thirty) type written !ines, with 70 (seventy) spaces; c) send detailed instructions for technical mountaingof the exhibition; d) supply the "Bienal" 15 days before the c10sing of the exhibition with instruction concerning reshipment of the works. The absence of these instructions wiII mean that all of them will be returned to the country of origiu from the port througb which they entered Brazll. The return to other destinations or throughs a different port, or the dismemberment of the exhibition, must be arranged beforehand with the "Bienal", in which case additional expenses incurred for transportation and customs formalities will be for account of the exhibiting country; m - The works must arrive suitably prepare for exhibition not later than 30th June in accordance with the specific condition of the materiaIs. They must be sent at one time (includindg the special catalogues prepared by the countries). Any expense incurred for conditioning the works, after their arrival, wiII be for account of the exhibiting country. IV - The "Bienal" will only bear the charges for transportation in Brazil (froiD the landing por to the seat ol) the "Bienal" and from the "Bienal" to. the port of reshipment), unpacking and repacking of the works.
Special Rooms Special Rooms are intended to document artistic activities of historical or topical importance. The "Bienal" and the participating country may suggest Iiving or deceased artists for the arrangement of special rooms, individual or collective, national or international.
