The Airshow opened Avalon’s gates to over 180,000 people during the action packed six days, holding

exhibition days and three days of public aircraft displays. Justin Giddings, Avalon Airport’s CEO has applauded Airshow organisers saying the 2013 show was yet another successful show and a well planned and executed event. “This year was one of the very best in number of attendees and flight displays, the airport was buzzing with people and aircraft from all over the world,” he said. Mr Giddings said Avalon was delighted to play host to the event that has huge flow on benefits to both the local and state economies. “Australian International Airshow has reported that the event costs $18 million to run and brings an estimated $20 million to the local Geelong economy and $120 million to the Victorian economy, Avalon is proud to be a part of that.”

Mr Giddings said the Airshow also gives Avalon Airport an

aircraft and their potential, stating

“This year was one of the very best in number of attendees and flight displays” International stage to showcase the potential of the airport when operating at such a grand scale. “After the announcement to make Avalon Victoria’s second International Airport we have been focussing our efforts on attracting the right International carrier. This event has been wonderful in helping us come closer to achieving that goal, we have hosted a number of international airlines at Avalon’s Chalet.” Mr Giddings has worked in aviation for over 20 years, and he still continues to get excited by the

this year was the first time the US Air Force displayed the Lockheed Martin Stealth Fighter. “Attendees on the public days were spoilt with perfect weather for flying and for spectating. The inaugural display of the F-22 Raptor from the US Air Force was the greatest spectacle for all attendees,” he said.
