Skipton & District Campdraft Club Incorporated
22nd Annual Campdraft 13th – 14th April 2019
The Skipton and District Campdraft Club organise a community, not-for-profit campdrafting event annually at the Bradvale Recreation Reserve, attracting over 200 competitors from southern Australia. Campdrafting is an equine sport which encourages the whole family to be involved. We operate within the Southern Campdrafting Association (SCA), which currently has over 1,400 members and growing by an average rate of 17% per year. This annual event fully caters for competitors to participate in the uniquely Australian horse sport of campdrafting, which has been in existence since the 19th century. Campdrafting is currently one of the fastest growing horse events in Australia, attracting riders to test their horse-riding and stock-handling skills against each other and the cattle. Campdrafters range from amateur to professionals, beginning at 8 years of age, with some tough souls still competing in their 80’s, making it a true family event. The Club supports the local community by bringing people to the area and raising funds for local schools, CFA branches and hospitals. In 2018, the Skipton and District Campdraft Club raised in excess of $1,000 which was donated to the South West Fire relief. We also reinvested into the ongoing maintenance and improvements of our home ground, the Bradvale Recreation Reserve. The Bradvale Recreation Reserve is a community facility used by locals throughout the year and by our campdraft club to not only to run annual campdrafting events, but to host clinics and club days to further help those involved in our sport. These facilities are becoming fewer and further apart and without support and attention are lost for the local communities. The Skipton & District Campdraft Club provide an opportunity for businesses to become involved, to help grow and support not only the annual event but the surrounding communities. Through sponsorship, businesses can receive advertising throughout the weekend, as well as on-going publicity via the SCA magazine and our own public Facebook page. A typical campdraft event program consists of a variety of events ranging from Juniors, 8 years and under 13; Juveniles, 13 and under 17 years; Ladies; Maiden; Novice and Encouragement events for 17 years and above (especially catering for those members who have not won a Ladies, Maiden, Novice or Open events), and the elite of our sport compete in the Open Draft. Places are awarded to the top 6 competitors in each of these events. We welcome attendance and involvement from all our sponsors and the community over the weekend, as competitors, or just for a great day out.
