on the Alley. All proceeds of the event will go to the Circle of Care Foundation. The event will be honoring actor and motivational speaker J.R. Martinez with the “Spirit of Hope” award, created to honor burn survivors who inspire others with their actions. Martinez who is known for his television roles on All My Children and Dancing With The Stars, suffered burns to more than 40 percent of his body in a roadside bomb attack while serving in Iraq. Throughout the course of his 34-month recovery, he endured 33 different surgeries. Since that time, Martinez has become a sought-after motivational speaker and dedicated himself tirelessly to helping the burn community. Circle of Care Foundation recently completed a strategic

repositioning and now concentrates exclusively on supporting the burn community. The programs began at Grossman Burn Center through direct patient assistance and funding for the burn survivor family camp. The Circle of Care Foundation “Courtesy Condo” used to house family members of burn survivors undergoing treatment at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital. New programs will expand throughout the Southland and beyond. Because Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills completely underwrote the event, 100 percent of the funds raised from The Ultimate Trunk Show will be going to the Circle of Care Foundation. The study also determined the proposed project would not cause significant impact in the areas of agricultural, biological, mineral, or cultural resources (historic), population and housing, solid waste and utilities (electricity and natural gas). In response to the report’s negative findings, it examines four alternatives; not building, replacement of proposed residential units with hotel rooms,

replacement of proposed residential units with increased office space, or a 25 percent reduction of residential development. In lieu of not building, the EIR indicates the reduction of residential units with increased office space is the superior environmentally alternative, as it would “reduce noise/vibration, air quality and shading impacts to a greater extent.” Last April’s Notice of Preparation for the project, generated significant criticism from concerned citizens regarding potential traffic, air quality, and noise level to bordering Beverly High. Members of the public are

invited to submit comments with thoughts and concerns on the proposed projects. Comments need to be submitted in writing by Oct. 31. Direct all comments to Hadar Plafkin, environmental review coordinator. Los Angeles Department of City Planning. 200 N Spring St, room 750. Los Angeles, CA. 90012. Fax comments to 213978-1343 or e mail them to hadar.plafkin@lacity.org. All comments received during this time will be addressed in the Final EIR.
