Ronny Chavez Rivas has Survived!

"If miracles exist, here is an example" said medical director of APROQUEN, Dr. Mario Perez. Ronny was admitted to APROQUEN since last July 16 with second and third degree burns in 56% of his body after spilling boiling water over his neck, anterior chest, and both arms. He remained three months in the intensive care unit fighting for his life and two weeks in intermediate care. Medical Director of APROQUEN. Courses for immediate attention to burn patients was given to Members of The Red Cross, Firefighters and medical students.

The immediate care of burned patients in the first hours of a burn injury is critical for therapy, diagnosis and prompt recovery. That is why APROQUEN and its medical team perform courses on the Immediate Basic Care of Burn Patients. The medical director from APROQUEN, Dr. Mario PĂŠrez indicated that the more than 250 resources received during the course, given the quality and content of knowledge it provides, “allows us to assert that participants received a training that improves the quality of immediate attention for burned patients at sites where this phenomenon occurs." This acquired knowledge is based on the course ABLS (Advanced Burn Life Support), adapted and adopted by the Latin American Federation of Burn (FELAQ), for our countries as ABIQ (Basic Immediate Burn Patient Care).

ACENICA and Mr. Rafael Cubillo performed a party for patients at the Burn Unit

Patients from APROQUEN’S Burn Unit have received Christmas with a party and an overflow of joy thanks to Mr. Rafael Cubillo, owner of ACENICA, who in the company of his family dedicated a special moment to the children victims of burn injuries and congenital malformations of cleftlip and palate. "Every year I try to help, but until recently I have known in further depth of APROQUEN and I'm very glad of the work that they do. I want to help all the children victims of burn injuries and for that reason, I decided to make constant donations and provide a Christmas party every year, says Rafael Cubillo. Participants enjoyed the party, the clowns, competitions and especially the gifts that lit their eyes and put a smile on their faces. For the parents of our APROQUEN patients, it was an opportunity to share with other families; the games, dances and dynamics were a breath of joy where the little ones were allowed to forget the difficulties that have passed.

"I know what it's like to be in a hospital, and the joy you get when someone comes to give you a prayer or see you, or takes you a gift or just simply to accompany you. Therefore, my humble message is to experience love in the heart, to be more positive, less selfish and more loving of each other as brothers and sisters, because life is short and in the end what one leaves behind are the good deeds", said Mrs. Vivian. Mrs. Vivian thanks the sponsors of BAC Credomatic, Dicegsa, Nicaragua Brewing Company, SER San Antonio, Pellas Group, Flor de Caña, and CLARO. The Volunteer does not expect rewards Since APROQUEN began its Comprehensive Care program in patients with congenital malformations (cleft lip and palate) in 2010, Dr. Jorge Castillo became involved as a volunteer. Volunteering is a free choice, it is an ethical, personal and free choice that does not expect a reward. Dr. Castillo has since granted a day's work for the benefit of our underprivileged patients who come seeking for help at APROQUEN. Dr. Castillo's work as an orthodontist in patients with cleft lip and palate consists of the placement of braces or brackets to control the growth process of the maxilla and improve occlusion and improvement of patient profile. “The greatest satisfaction of all physicians is to serve to society and my satisfaction is to help the children of APROQUEN.
