The Local Commission, like the Inspector, performs both a social services function and a law enforcement function. For example, Local Commissions are mandated to work with the Pedagogic Office and with educational authorities to locate children in need of government assistance, and to attempt to find them employment or assign them to educational institutions.118 With regard to law enforcement, Local Commissions may conduct hearings to investigate Amisdemeanors@ committed by children and may order correctional measures as follow: a) b) c) d)

reprimand; duty of apology; warning; remand in the custody of parents or foster parents with instructions for special care; placement under the correctional supervision of coworkers or a public organization; placement under the correctional supervision of an education officer; duty of re[pair]ing the damage inflicted, where possible; duty of community service; or assignment to a [Labor Education School].119
