OFF STAGE ANNOUNCER (FREMON) Welcome to the 2013 Miss Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County Competition. We have 6 dynamic young women competing for scholarships and the exciting position of Miss Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County 2013. I hope you are ready for an amazing night. Are you ready to meet your hosts for tonight? Music Starts Playing Our hosts are Natalya Bannister, and Brett Douglas from kiss 105.3 Natalya’s Bio: Natalya Bannister graduated with honors from the University of Florida receiving two degrees; a Bachelor’s in Family Youth and Community Science and a Masters in Health Education and Behavior. Natalya is a Certified Health Education Specialist and is extremely passionate about improving outcomes of the youth and families we serve. First introduced to the Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County as an Intern in 2008, Natalya has served at different capacities throughout her tenure with our organization including Unit Director, SE Area Director and currently serves as our Vice President of Operations. One volunteer experience at the Woodland Park Unit in undergrad changed her entire career path from an aspiring attorney to lifelong a Boys & Girls Club Gladiator. Natalya has also created three National Award winning programs throughout our organization and plans on using her expertise to continue to provide quality much needed programming to our community's deserving youth. Additionally, this year Natalya was recognized as Gainesville’s top Forty under 40 Business Leaders. .Natalya and her college sweetheart, former Gator and NFL running back, Kestahn Moore, have a beautiful 2 year old daughter who brings so much joy to their lives. Brett’s Bio: Brett was born August 8th, 1976 at Provo, Utah. He served four years in the United States Army. For pass time, Brett loves to play golf, spend time with her daughters, and family, and watching the Gators. He has an identical twin brother and they love to sings together. Brett started working at Kiss 105.3 nine years ago where he is an on air personality/morning show host. His key to success if to feel good and always be happy while making everyone feels good about themselves. In Brett words “ Everybody is awesome!!!”.
Please help me welcome on stage Natalya Bannister and Brett Douglas. (Music) Natalya and Brett Walk in stage. Good Afternoon! I hope everyone is ready for a great night. We are so excited to be here tonight and to serve as your hosts. We are looking forward to an exciting evening which will cumulate with the announcement of Miss BGC of Alachua County. As a role model for young women and Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County members, Miss Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County has to be well spoken. She has to be concerned with issues facing Alachua County. Participation in the Miss Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County program empower those ladies to achieve their personal and professional goals, while providing a forum in which to use their talents and intelligence to achieve a platform dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others. Tonight, you will see the contestants compete in Creativity Wear, Talent, and Evening Wear on Stage-Questions. But First, Watch Carefully as our wonderful contestants introduce themselves now. Introduce 1st Judge: Kelly Belanger Kelly Belanger was born right here in Gainesville, FL! She is currently dual enrolled at Santa Fe College and will graduate in April with her AA. She will then graduate from Gainesville High School in June. She currently is serving her reign as Miss Florida National Teen. With this title she is also serving as the America's National Teenage Scholarship Organization Ambassador for the Boys and Girls Club until June 2014.She teaches ASL to the kids at the Northwest Center every week, as well as working on some social media work for the club as an intern. In addition, she is an Independent Designer for Origami Owl, a jewelry company. (Applause) Introduce 2nd Judge: Kestahn Moore Kestahn Moore is a texas native that came to Florida on a football scholarship. In his four years he accomplished great accolades, winning two National Championships in 2006 & 2008 while being name a captain in the second national championship season. He also was a Three-Time 1st-Team SEC academic recipient graduating with a 3.0 in Sport Management with a minor in Business, 2009. After college he played professionally for three years after retiring. Now he resides in Gainesville, FL with his fiancée; Natalya, and Daughter; Nyana, as a District Manager in the restaurant business. (Applause) Introduce 3rd Judge: Holly Marie Plourde Holly Plourde is here today from Palm Bay, Florida. As the reigning Miss Florida representing the Royal International Miss System. Holly is a 20 year old college student studying at Eastern Florida State College with plans to attend University of Central Florida in the spring studying Human Resources. In her spare time she enjoys working at Publix, Coaching Cheerleading, Volunteering, and Reading to children. After college her goal is to work for a Fortune 500 company and earn her master degree in business. (Applause) Introduce 4th Judge: Joe Johnson Joe Johnson was born in Milwaukee, WI but has lived in several places during his childhood including Hawaii and New York. He considers Milwaukee, AKA: “The Mil” his hometown because of the family ties. Johnson loves to laugh but also get things done. In pursuit of a PhD. in Counselor Education at the University of Florida, Johnson already holds a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Western Michigan University with plans on finishing his Doctoral degree by 2015. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Saginaw Valley State University.
This dynamic speaker is a former standout college athlete who understands the importance of education and mentoring our youth in as many ways as possible. As a Licensed School Counselor, he has worked in a variety of K-12 schoolsettings but has also done extensive work with the undergraduate and graduate populations, and many community settings. Serving as an Educator, Mentor, Resource, and Leader at the University of Florida and across the country, Johnson continues his work in Michigan with youth in his organization called Future 4 Teens (F4T), established by himself and F4T partners. Joe Johnson is excited to spread his message of versatility, identity, and purpose to the world. His personal story is captivating and his charming ability to engage his audience with humor and authenticity is one of a kind. These opportunities give Johnson the platform to consistently speak, work with youth and keep up the fight for SOCIAL JUSTICE. (Applause) Introduce 5th Judge :Alicia McCord Alicia was born in Canton, Ohio, moved to Huntsville, Alabama while in high school, and later moved to Gainesville, Florida to pursue her dream of becoming a Pediatrician/OBGYN. She is a member of Passage Family Church under the leadership of Pastor George and Lady Michele Dix. She doubled majored in Biology/Psychology and minored in Chemistry and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Master of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama. She has recently taken the MCAT and is awaiting a response to enter Medical School. Alicia takes education very seriously and loves to hear and see the youth excel in school and take an interest in wanting to attend college. She is employed by Florida Cancer Specialist as a Clinical Research Coordinator, where she helps to research and find treatments for Oncology Patients. She is also very active in her church and in the community. She is a Mentor for 13-17 year old girls in the Daughters of Destiny mentoring group, a Mentor in the Vow to Purity Program, lead of the Singleâ€™s Ministry and a Greeter at Passage Family Church. She also volunteerâ€™s and mentors with the Junior Achievement Program at Howard Bishop Middle School and at Stephen Foster Elementary School. Alicia resides in Gainesville, Florida and has a cute dog named Be Be. (Applause) Host Ladies and Gentleman, your host panel. Earlier, each contestant had a private interview with the judges. That interview will count for 25 percent of their score. Creativity wear consists of 25%, Talent Consist of 25% and so does OnStage Questions. Are you ready to get this completion started? Well next our contestant will be showcasing their creativity wear. Remember… these are not professional performers or should I say not yet. In this phase, judges will be looking for each contestant’s interpretive ability, her preparedness, technical skills, and stage presences. Now, our next competition, the Elegant Evening Wear and On-Stage Question Competition is designated for the contestant to make â€“on-stage statement of her compelling charm, presence and personality. We are now going to provide each contestant an opportunity to articulate her commitment to better the world and the Gainesville Community by asking them a question. On Stage Question All the Contestants will first walk on stage (Announcer (Fremon) will announce the contestants. Contestants step forward, and respond to the question). Contestant #3: Taylor Sanford: Taylor love raising cows, playing basketball, and reading books. What are your goals for the future? Name one thing you are currently doing to help accomplish your goal. Contestant #4 : Jakira Scott. She loves singing, shopping, and working with new born babies. For what in your life do you feel most grateful? Contestant #5: Rianna Washington. She loves to play volleyball, do makeup and have a the greatest interest in photography. What is the biggest problem teenagers face today? Contestant #6: Alisha Clayton. She loves volunteering, playing all type of sports, and love making other people happy What does “success” mean to you? Have you achieved it? HOST That’s the end of our competition for tonight. She will not only win $500 scholarship, she will assume the responsibility of role model at the Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County.
