SOFTWARE SKILLS
PANTOSPHERE Pantosphere was a 2 week group project wherein my role within the group was to learn UNREAL ENGINE and develop an engaging VR experience that captures the themes of the project. Human activity has fundamentally changed our planet, labeling Anthropocene as our new geological epoch of the modern world.
Over the course of the Anthropocene, a new layer of human-made 'stuff' was created on top of the Earth's crust. If Anthropocene describes the build up of 'stuff' on the Earth's crust, then Pantosphere describes the build up of 'stuff' within our digital data. The essence of Pantophere; 404 error, click, scroll, data.

The beginning of the project consisted of brainstorming of ideas purely through the use of retrieved items from the Internet. This consisted of scouring Google to find 3D models of 'stuff' to decorate our 'threads' with. Over-consumption in association with the food industry was the theme of my threads. Taking up the largest majority of the board; a large herd of cows, all robotically standing and facing the same way - as if waiting for their turn at the slaughter house. Other threads include: someone watching a TV show about farming whilst eating steak, shopping carts piled high with steaks, and a fridge overflowing with food. pantosphere development screen shot unreal engine

LIVING AMONGST This student housing project was developed during the second semester of Masters and focused on ideas of isolation versus loneliness. Every person has a different need for human interaction, and being able to differentiate the distinction between being alone and being lonely is what this project aims to do architecturally. The human gaze is one of society's main cue
to indicate interaction between two people. However, it can also be the most intimidating action

These vignettes were later then
developed into spaces and forms as seen in the development sketches. The final axonometric drawing thus showcases the different typologies of rooms provided by this student accommodation. axonometric drawing room typologies

EMBROIDERED IN CUTLERY The main driving force behind the sophisticated design of the cutlery was to create a sense of poise and polish if one were to use this product. Embroidered in Cutlery is to be an all gold set, which was inspired by the intricate detailing of crochet and lace work to forward the sense of sophistication - as if one was royalty.
This project plays homage to the elegant Victorian style and the embellishments the cutlery at the time had used. However, the product brings the old style into today's era and modernizes the embellishments and overall design for a sleek and refined look.

Embroided in Cutlery explores the design process of research and survey of influential designs which were then further developed and brought to life through the use of digital programs. This was achieved with the use of Grasshopper, Vray and Photoshop, among other softwares.
During the design process different preliminary designs were explored through sketches and research of different precedents. Each of the designs were initially inspired by works of Junya Ishigami, which were then further developed by looking into other possible inspirations such as: Shigeru Ban’s Paper House Pavilion, Florian Krautli’s Magnetic Curtains and fish netting among other things. SOUTHERN LIGHTS This Perth CBD activation project explored ways in which the city central could become a livelier place both during the day and at night.
that provide public seating, extending the area of shade the trees provide, and adding light where it is lacking during the night.
Southern Lights is a system that enhances the daily pedestrian experience of walking through the city central. The project aims to be an extension that can enhance the elements already provided on site to make the overall experience better. Adding more seating in areas
Currently Perth is a bland city with minimal activity during the day, and even less during the night - with the majority of shops closing at 5pm leaving the city central a quiet place in the hours after.
Southern Lights targets this problem by attempting to make a better experience for pedestrians in the hopes that they would be more inclined to stay out for a longer duration of time. The natural progression would be that if there was more activity during the day, nightlife will begin to emerge as a result.

The project identifies the exact location of existing elements (trees, public seating and street lights) that will be further elaborated as to how to enhance these pin-pointed locations. Rather than installing new seats and shelter, which could congest and block off the existing flow of people within the street, Southern lights instead enhances these elements to make the overall experience better. Adding more seating in areas that provide public seating, extending
the area of shade the trees provide, and adding light where it is lacking during the night. This architectural project can be better explained as a 'part of kits' rather than a singular standing pavilion. The aim was to design a project that could be potentially utilised in the other CBD as well as other commercial areas around Perth.
PROJECT: NURTURE The meeting of a nursing home and kindergarten. Nursing homes do not have a reputation for being an environment that fights loneliness, in contrast, it seems that they do the opposite. However, studies have shown that by bringing young children into an elderly home for an hour of two a day is beneficial to both parties.
Thus, I have developed a project that details an existing elderly home in South Port with a new kindergarten extension located above the current building. The aim was to create a nursing home and kindergarten hybrid. Inspired by Cedric Price's Fun Palace, this building follows the concept of giving the people the freedom and ability to do what they want - when they want whilst inside the building.
site drawing The site is located in South Port, whereby the elderly home is surrounded by a dog park which hosts a farmer's market on the weekend. The diagrams illustrate the design process to open up the building to be included within the park more.

form development
Simple shape mapping and form blocking exercises were used to develop the flow and overall shape of the building - whilst aiming to maintain the functionality that an environment such as a school needs. The building is split into 2 floors. This not only allows for the children and elderly to have both indoor and outdoor areas to use, but it allows for different activities to happen at different times of the day. daily timeline drawing
