COCKTAILS & ARTISTS SPRING 2015

BEVEL SPRING/SUMMER 2015 After a long winter hibernating from the lovely NYC weather, it is time to unfurl a burst of color and fresh combinations. TITANIUM. It is all about lush pastels for women, subtle matte/shiny combinations for men, mixing it up with an array of new shapes and sizes to round out the collection as a whole. TITANIUM SUN. Our very first titanium SUN collection presents somewhat traditional styles in a very untraditional fashion. Dual coloring plays out with contrasting fronts and temples. Matte silver and gold meet matte grey and espresso—bringing a truly modern styling to these classic shapes. COMBOS. Last year’s design theme continues to unfold with three new bold and colorful titanium, combined with acetate inserts in contrasting colors. ACETATE. Complex, subtle and smooth. That’s how we describe our new acetate color palette. Smaller sizes and soft shapes are the basis of the Acetate collection; back to our roots perhaps? ACETATE SUNS. Small is the new black when it comes to our Acetate SUNS. Neglected for the last couple of years, we have realized there is a big need for the smaller fit face. Our theme for the spring 2015 collection is an homage to great artists and classic cocktails.

TITAN

From left to right. Sidecar. A freewheeling, classic cocktail revved up with cognac, orange liqueur, and lemon juice. The Ritz Hotel in Paris claims to have invented this drink, named after the motorcycle sidecar. Take Bevel’s version for a ride. Sazerac. A local NoLa cocktail whose defining feature is its preparation using two chilled old-fashioned glasses. The first glass is swirled with a wash of absinthe for its flavor. The second glass is used to combine the remaining ingredients. Stirring things up.

COMBOS. BOLD STYLES, CONTRASTING COLORS.

COMBOS

From top right to bottom. Georgia. “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way—things I had no words for.” – Georgia O’Keeffe Ira. “I like excess. And giant M&M’s.” – Ira Glass. OK, we admit it: These frames were not named for Ira Glass. But it left an opening to quote the always-quotable Mr. Glass. Amedeo. “When I know your soul, I will paint your eyes” – Amedeo Modigliani (And when we know your face, we will fit you with Bevels.)

From left to right. Salvador. “I am not strange. I am just not normal.” – Salvador Dali Leonardo. “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo da Vinci (We thought Richard said that, but apparently it was Leonardo da Vinci)

AI. “I call on people to be ‘obsessed citizens,’ forever questioning and asking for accountability.” – Ai Weiwei Jackson. “My paintings do not have a center, but depend on the same amount of interest throughout.” – Jackson Pollock (Well, that explains everything. No, really.)

SUNS. SMALL IS THE NEW BLACK.

From top left to bottom right. Caipironha. Brazil’s national cocktail is prepared by smashing fruit and sugar, then adding liquor. It began as a cure for the flu. Sidecar. A freewheeling, classic cocktail with cognac, orange liqueur, and lemon juice. The Ritz Hotel in Paris claims to have invented this drink, named after the motorcycle sidecar—which seems a bit odd.

Cosmopolitan. The “Cosmo”—originated in the 1930s—made popular by the girls of Sex in the City. Miranda asks “why did we stop drinking them?” Carrie replies “because everyone else started.” Rusty Nail. A mixture of Drambuie and Scotch popularized by the Rat Pack—although we always thought Sinatra was drinking apple juice.
