LOST ITEMS We encourage children to be responsible for their own possessions and will help with reminders. There will be a lost and found area here on campus. However, if items are left at the pool or on a field trip parents are responsible to retrieve them. YOUR CHILD’S MEDICAL NEEDS If your camper needs medication while at camp please be sure to sign and have your doctor sign the medication agreement form. You can get that online or at one of the computer checkin stations. We cannot give your camper medications without this form. TECHNOLOGY USE Campers will have access to computers during the summer, and we need your permission for them to use the computers and access the internet. Each camper will be assigned a user name and password with your permission.

*Watch for Junior Counselor registration for 7th, 8th and 9th graders available March 1 SUMMER CAMP DATES Camp starts on June 5 and runs through August 10, 2012. We are open at 6:30 am-6:00 pm every weekday except July 4.

SWIM LESSONS ARE AVAILABLE We have a wonderful arrangement with the city of Lakewood and Morse Park Pool to offer swim lessons to our summer campers. The cost is $55 for two 4-week sessions. Swim lesson registration due by May 1, 2012. AGE-DIVIDED GROUPS FOR CAMP Our campers are divided by age this summer. Three and four year olds will meet in the lower level of the school. Kindergarten through 2nd grade campers will meet in the Childwatch room. Our 3rd and 4th grade campers will be upstairs in Nees Hall. And 5th through 6th grade campers will have a special space in the cafeteria. Field trips, lunch and recess will be at different times for the groups.

SPECIAL CAMP INFORMATION MEETINGS This year we ask that every family attend an information/registration meeting to prepare for camp. It is a great time to meet other camp families, get your questions answered, turn in registration materials, pick up camp t-shirt and learn more about what is in store for our campers this summer. The date is Wednesday, March 20 and we will meet in the courtyard. We have two sessions planned (you only need to attend one) at 2:30pm and 6:00pm.

SIGNING IN/OUT AND ACCESS TO THE BUILDING You will be given a fob to allow you access to the building during camp hours. Two fobs are included with your registration fee and additional fobs can be purchased for $10.00 if you need more or lose one. You will sign your child in and out at one of our two computer stations each day using an access code you select and a scan of your finger biometric. We will hand out fobs and register your fingerprint at the information meeting on March 20.

BILLING FOR SUMMER 2012 We have simplified our billing for the summer. All camp families are asked to agree to pay their bills through an ACH withdrawal on the 5th of the month for their scheduled use that month. No refunds are made due to schedule changes after the first of the month; however, days can be added by emailing Gretchen Herd (gherd@bethluth.net) at least one day in advance. Field trip fees are built into the daily camp fee this year with the exception of Elitch Gardens (June 20) and WaterWorld (August 9).

DISCIPLINE We welcome children in camp who are respectful of our staff, other campers, the facility, our equipment and those we come in contact with on off campus field trips. Campers who choose not to be respectful will be asked to go home. Unfortunately, this means we have to call you to come and pick them up. We hope that doesnʼt happen and will give your camper every opportunity to be successful in meeting our behavior guidelines. We base our approach on the principles of Love and Logic. For more information visit loveandlogic.com.

MAGNIFICENT MONDAYS Mondays are the only day our K-6th grade campers are on campus the whole day, but it is going to be a great day. We start with Chapel at 9:00 am, and then we will have in “in-house field trip” where a special guest presenter will join us on cool and fun topics related to our weekly theme. In the afternoon we will watch a movie while the camp counselors have their weekly meeting. It is going to be magnificent!

LUNCH Campers are to bring a healthy and nutritious lunch every day that does not require heating or refrigeration. Sack lunch is needed every day except the day we go to Elitch Gardens, June 20.

TUESDAY AND THURSDAY AFTERNOONS WE’RE AT THE POOL! Swim days are a regular part of summer camp and not optional. We have a blast at the pool. Modest bathing suits and Bethlehem swim shirts are required and each camper MUST provide their own sunscreen. Please apply a nice thick coat of sunscreen every day before your camper gets dressed in the morning. We will ask your child to apply additional sunscreen throughout the day. Counselors and Junior Counselors will assist the K-4th graders as needed. We love being in the sun but are serious about sun protection. WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY FIELD TRIPS Two days a week we will visit all sorts of fun locations and do great activities off campus. Look for the complete list of field trips on March 5th at BethlehemSchool.org under Summer Camp.

CAMP SHIRTS AND SWIM SHIRTS Summer Camp children will get two shirts at the Camp Information Meetings. The camp t-shirt must be worn on all field trip days and the swim shirt is required attire on all swim days! Sorry, but campers who forget their swim shirts will not be able to get into the water and campers who donʼt bring their camp t-shirt cannot attend field trips, so we will have to call you to either pick up your camper or deliver his or her t-shirt. Additional or replacement camp t-shirts can be purchased for $25, and swim shirts are $50. CELL PHONE USE AND ELECTRONICS Staff have access to a cell phone should an emergency arise and campers are asked not to bring a cell phone to camp. Additionally, it is hard to keep your camperʼs expensive electronics safe, so we ask that those items stay at home as we cannot be responsible for them.
