T
he Theatre Department’s fall 2003 production of Antigone was judged by a member of the Kennedy Center of American College Theatre. This was the first Bethany production to undergo such a process and thus enrolls Bethany into this organization with thousands of other colleges around the nation. The judge provided feedback from his perspective on the production. As a result of the process, two students were nominated for their performances to compete in an acting competition: Steven Corona who played Teiresias and Julie Quist who played Ismene. These two actors attended the Kennedy Center Regional conference at the University of Denver on January 18-25, 2004. Eight other students also participated in this conference to present their work in theatre arts, to develop their skills, and to interview for graduate schools. Those students include Jacob Kempfert (acting), Benjamin Inniger (sound design), Jacob Moldstad (playwriting), Jacob Yenish (lighting design), Andrew Umphrey (criticism), David Brassow, Heidi Harland, and Alyssa Schrader. Dr. Jonas Nissen, Professor of Theatre, accompanied the students to this conference.
