We want to say thank you to everyone who has impacted our family and our cattle operation. Since the beginning, there have been countless people who have touched our lives and for that we are grateful. Without the blessing of our family, friends, and customers none of this would be a reality. As cattle producers, we have a great responsibility to manage the land and tend to the livestock. As you know it is a task that can be both rewarding and overwhelming at times. The collection of a sale offering is a result of years of hard work and the fruits of our labor. We’ve tried to listen to our valued customers over the years. One of the overriding requests has been for more age advantage bulls. This year all the bulls meet that request. We take great pride in the presentation of these bulls. The bulls are toned up, hard muscled, and ready to go to the pasture. They have been developed on wheat pasture, grass in the summer, and limit fed grain ration since December.
We believe this bull development program will offer bulls with greater longevity and structural soundness for our customers. The 2024 set of bulls includes some unique individuals as most sales do, but this set of bulls is undoubtedly the deepest group in terms of quality that we have ever offered. In the breeds with larger numbers of bulls offered, there are many bulls that could be debated as the best and the gap between that group and the last bull in the breed is very small. In this 2024 offering, the Angus division presents a deeper set of top end, herd changing sires than we have ever offered. These are the types of improvements we strive to make each year to progress our herd and yours. It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 21st Annual Bixler Ranch Bull Sale!

Our customers consistently tell us our bulls hold up better after the sale, through the summer breeding months, and last longer than previous bulls they have bought. While we believe this is partially a result of decades of extensive AI & ET programs breeding and culling for animals that work for cattlemen, that is only part of the equation. Our bulls are developed in large grass pastures and rarely in a smaller area than 160 acres until right before the sale. Rather than being in a feedlot setting, these bulls consistently travel for feed and water while building muscle tone and athleticism; just like they would when they are turned out to go to work for you. We feel strongly that if these bulls are not over-conditioned, this provides value for you as the buyer to have a bull that is ready to work right away and has the structural integrity to last you many years to come.

It's pretty obvious that we think this is a really special Red Angus bull and there was no reason to disguise that so here is Lot 1!. 609 was McMurphy Farms selection from our 2020 bull sale and his first calf crop produced some of our top bulls in last year’s sale. We’ve consistently used this bull and it’s not surprising that he produced Lot 1 of the 2024 sale. If you’ve followed our program, the El Dorado Donor 42B has produced our top bulls nearly every year. She is the mother of 609 where the genetic potency keeps coming from. Lot 1 is as hog backed and huge hipped as they come while having a neck and presence that commands your attention. We’ve already collected semen on this bull and plan to use him in our program. We believe this bull can take a nice cow and turn her offspring into next level revenue generators more so than almost any Red Angus bull we have ever sold.

This might be the freakiest necked Red Angus bull we have ever sold and what is unique is that he transitions into a deep bodied, easy keeping type build from his shoulder’s back. His sire, 291, is a dense, burly, full brother to 609 out of Donor 42B that we kept as our own herd bull. His maternal granddam was one of the elite donor cows in the Red Angus breed with incredibly high progeny sales. Take notice of this bull’s full sister that was pictured in the pasture while on the cow. This bull’s mother might need to move to the donor pen. Do what you want with your own calf crop, but it would be a shame to not raise some great bulls and replacement females out of Lot 2.

Red Angus This bull’s mother is 13 years old, still raising a calf, and a full sister to the great calving ease sire, 132. Lot 3 has been one of the best Red Angus bulls since he was a calf. When looking at this bull it’s obvious he provides all the performance you could want. He is the first animal we’ve sold out of the Dyne 47H bull that is not widely known, but make no mistake that we have some pretty elite offspring from him. Longevity is money and the track record of this bull’s mother, his granddam Red Soo Line Countess 6409, and her other offspring say that this might be the bull where the money is to be made.

In 2022, we said Lot 3 that year was the most impressive calving ease sire we had produced to date. He offered calving ease and growth that rivaled any Red Angus bull. Thankfully this bull came later because you are looking at the best Red Angus low birth weight sire we have produced. He is out of the bulletproof sire 132, take some Zzz-Quil during calving season and don’t worry about a thing. He was calved by a PTO first calf heifer, and he has developed like no other 132 son we have ever raised in the last 12 years of using this bull. From his muscle shape, length of body, fleshing ability, impeccable structure, and incredibly attractive build, this is a bull to take notice of his unique merits. We have collected semen on this bull with the intention and confidence of using him heavily on our first calf heifers.

Red Angus Lot 5 may not offer the frame of some of his counterparts, but he excels in his muscle shape and square build. We love the masculinity of skull that Lot 5 exhibits, his bold center, and you can’t help but notice his dark red hide that always helps bring a premium for your calves. His sire, Red Wood, combines some of our favorite breeding pieces from the Bingo bloodline to the Dixie Erica cow family. If you like raising powerful, good looking bulls and females, mark Lot 5 in your catalog and make sure to take him home.

609 strikes again and it’s hard to go wrong here. This bull is chiseled like his sire seems to breed every time, his mother passes on the performance you’re looking for, and he still combines that in a build that makes you want to retain his females. Genetic diversity is important but there is also a saying of “if isn’t broke, don’t fix it.” Offspring from Donor 42B work for us, they work for our customers, and we’re going to keep going back to the well with these genetics so we can continue to produce bulls like Lot 6.

Sons of 432 have been some of the most sought-after bulls in our past sales. It seems this cow is almost incapable of producing a heifer. It’s great that she breeds back right away every year, but it’s almost embarrassing that we haven’t held this cow open for a little bit to flush her. Her Red Eagle son brings the mass that her calves always exhibit but he transitions into a neat, sharp front that is really attractive on his darker red hide that so many are trying to produce.

Nearly a full brother to Lot 6 and a very similar build. Not only did one of the best Red Angus programs in the country buy 609, but multiple, very successful operations purchased his first sons to ever sell from our 2023 offering. We breed to 609 every year and each year we wish we had more of his sons to offer in our sale. Don’t worry, that track record of passing on the genetics to producing top end offspring doesn’t stop all of sudden. Buy the lineage, and it will keep paying the dividend.

This pedigree is packed with our favorite calving ease sires. 6009, not to be confused with 609, is our 132 son that we AI and clean up the majority of our first calf heifers with. 6009's mother was an Independence first calf heifer who was also a result of a calving ease mating out of a first calf heifer the generation before her. This bull’s granddam was one of our selections from the well known C-Bar program and by looking at this bull it seems like that purchase might have made sense. Lot 9 is built how you want a calving ease sire with the right head shape, flat shoulder, and conservative bone, but most calving ease bulls aren’t this good to look at. There is nothing wrong with enjoying looking at your calving ease bull. Tell your friends where you got him and we might even find a discount for you somewhere!

Tim Ohlde made line breeding “cool” and we’re just following in those footsteps. 105 is a full sister to 132. We doubled down on those calving ease genetics and think we hit the jackpot, but I guess you’ll actually be the judge of that on sale day. What is crazy about this bull is that he’s big bellied, square hipped, and has the muscle shape we don’t often see in calving ease bulls. This bull warrants consideration from the most elite operations looking for a calving ease bull. If we were currently in need of a calving ease bull, we’d be excited to keep this bull to use for ourselves.

Study the video of Lot 12 and you'll see a bull that possesses all the traits a commercial cowman is looking for with a presence about him that makes him easy to look at. There was a Donor 42B son that flew under the radar last year and was purchased by a savvy customer that would be one of the more impressive bulls if we brought them back. Welcome to the annual comment about the bull that everyone likes to pick on. Each year the group seems to pick 1 or 2 bulls to ride or try to fight and this year one of them is Lot 13. I’m not sure where this bull would be in the catalog if he had that extra 200 pounds they have worked off him, but it wouldn’t be here at the bottom of the Purebred Red Angus section. This bull is built right and if we didn’t think he was so good, we’d just pull him out of the sale. He’s not a fighter so if your operation runs a couple of bulls together, I wouldn’t be worried at all. For some reason, part of the group gangs up on him so mark him in your catalog as a bull that’s going to gain weight and really make you happy once you get him to your place away from the large group of bulls.

We start the Percentage Red Angus division continuing with some of the recent calving ease sires. Lot 14 is the result of the first calf out of one of the prettiest, softest middled females you’ll find. When putting together classes for a judging contest workout 3 years ago, this female topped the class and was discussed as the top female of the entire workout. It’s not surprising that she produced a son built like this. If you don’t care whether your calving ease sire is purebred and you just want the best animal, mark your catalog here.
Another Percentage Red Angus calving ease bull that will spit them out like the purebred bulls except with a little extra vigor! Sired by the most proven calving ease bull we’ve used in our operation. I’m not sure what was going on in 2022 to produce calving ease bulls that are this good looking but take advantage of it This bull has the extra stoutness that we don't always seeing in low birthweight sires.

If you haven’t noticed, we are incredibly cautious when marketing calving ease bulls. We only sell calving ease bulls that were calved by first calf heifers. To take that one step further, that heifer calving unassisted doesn’t mean that bull calf can be a calving ease bull. We watch most heifers calve, document every calf at birth, analyze their build and how easy they were calved, and then still will not consider them sufficient without being satisfied with their vigor after birth. Unless we are confident with breeding our stoutest crossbred heifers to that bull, they won’t be considered calving ease.

We’re as transparent about our cattle as anyone so there is no need to change that now. Lot 16 is the best built breeding bull this operation has produced. Paint them all the same color and this guy stands out like a man among children. He’s enormous hipped, whale bellied, huge backed, cocky headed, and glides around like he weighs less than a feather. Yellow may not be your cup of tea, but if quality is, think about this. Lot 16 is 50% Red Angus out of a Purebred Red Angus sire. On red cows, you’ll have a decent amount of calves that are Red Angus colored. Out of black cows, you’ll also have a decent amount of calves that are black. For those of you that don’t care about color, just keep bidding until the gavel drops and he’s ready to load in your trailer. Oh yeah, by the way we’ve collected semen on this bull and plan to use him in our own program. Regardless of what facet of the beef industry you’re in, the world needs more cattle built like this.

Percentage Red Angus There isn’t enough space to fit all the comments about this bull’s build and his pedigree but we’ll summarize what we can. His grandmother is our Donor 702 who is also the mother of the elite show heifer pictured here, among many others. His great grandmother is none other than Donor 42B. We talk a lot about being confident in using our own bulls and Lot 17 is a direct result of that. His sire, who we call Comanche, was Lot 51 and one of our top bulls from our 2022 sale. To take this one step further, Lot 17 has a Purebred Red Angus half sister that may be the best Red Angus female we have ever raised. This bull is explosively muscled, huge centered, tracks like a cat, and has a little white on his face to offer you the opportunity to produce those sought after red baldy cattle. Like his sire, we plan to AI to this bull to continue his highly successful genetic lineage.

crossbred cattle
”
When crossbreeding as opposed to straightbreeding, there is a 4% increase in number of calves weaned and they wean off at about 5% heavier than straightbred calves under the same management. The increase in numbers of calves born and weaned (4%) when crossbred is due to a greater livability of the crossbred calf as compared to straightbred calves. Greater livability of crossbred calves becomes obvious within the first week to ten days after birth. The crossbred calf, compared to a straightbred, is more hardy and aggressive. They stand, nurse earlier and are more resistant to the calfhood stresses such as chill and scours. Advantages of more aggressiveness also contributes to the increase in weaning weights of crossbred calves. Crossbred calves appear to stimulate the cow more than straightbred calves by more frequent and longer nursing. This leads to an increase in milk flow, which has the net result of heavier weaning weights. - R.R. Frahm, Professor, Oklahoma State Animal Science

simangus Turn Key was the leadoff SimAngus sire in 2022 and it’s only fitting a Turn Key son from his first calf crop leads off this division in 2024. We began AI’ing and flushing cows to Turn Key as a yearling a year before he even sold and we’re certainly glad we did. In his first calf crop he has produced elite bulls like Lot 19, some of our best replacement females, show heifers like you see pictured here, and show steers as well. Turn Key works on as wide of range of cows as any bull we may have ever used and we believe Lot 19 will exhibit similar characteristics. Lot 19 is one of the best bulls in the sale in his upper rib cage, he is dense, expressive muscled, and you cannot walk in the pen without noticing him to seemingly always be on point. Don’t overlook the added genetic consistency of his Maternal Made mother that goes back to a very proven, easy keeping SimAngus cow.

It would be impossible to split up these two Turn Key sons, Lot 19 and 20. Not to mention they are both out of really impressive Maternal Made females. In comparison to Lot 19, the Lot 20 bull offers a tremendously long and deep sided package supported by his Donor Y102 granddam. Y102 has produced some of the best performance cattle we have offered in previous sales and her influence shows here with the added depth of rib, growth, and structural flexibility. That combination should translate into a more productive bull exhibiting longevity that ultimately produces more calf crops and return for the owner.

simangus Turning Point has made his mark on our program as a Purebred Simmental sire and even though we lost him, we continue to AI to him as we believe he has futuristic traits the Simmental breed needs. Lot 21 carries that typical Turning Point huge middle, bold muscle pattern, and heavy bone structure. Don’t overlook the snip of white on his face if you’re looking for that in your calf crop. Lot 21’s Purebred Angus mother breeds the cocky neck and higher headset in Lot 21 making him a great option to add a little Simmental to your calf crop while maintaining an Angus base.

The 726 cow continues to generate top bulls as she has in the past. We really like our Revival females and this is an example why. Lot 22 is a full brother to the Lot 15 bull from the 2023 sale purchased by Kevin Gore. As his prior brothers have exhibited, Lot 22 is heavy boned, rugged built, and big centered. For the power he offers, Lot 22 is neater fronted than most 3/4 Simmental bulls. The genetic consistency of this baldy bull may rival any sire in the entire sale.

simangus This is the boldest featured, heaviest structured Turn Key son we have raised. Lot 23’s mother is out of our former SimAngus herd sire,134, and we just flushed his grandmother last fall. When you look at this bull in person, his power is overwhelming but he’s still square built, flexible at the ground, and attractive through his front third. His pedigree is stacked with our best Angus donors so it isn’t surprising he is one of our sale favorites. 509’s mother was the Missing Link Donor 0714 and she bred as stout as any Angus we’ve ever seen. Lot 25’s mother is an incredibly attractive Angus cow, and his grandmother, Donor 206Z, is currently our #1 Angus donor. Her offspring litter our sales every year with some of the top animals. This bull is tremendous in his upper rib cage and that flows into a bold center body. He carries as much width from stifle to stifle as any bull his age. Lot 25 probably needs some additional maturity to garner all the fans, but for those buyers that like to see their bulls get better after the sale we wouldn’t argue if you said this was the best SimAngus bull in the entire offering.

Our first calf crop from Loaded Up Dolly sold last year and were some of the highlights from the sale. Lot 28 is one of the younger bulls to sell this year but when he fully matures, he may be the best looking mature bull from this sale. We have multiple daughters from his Up North mother, 644, and she simply never misses. If we could produce the center body and thickness in all of our females that Lot 28 carries, feeding in the winter would be cheap because we would have the easiest fleshing females in the country. If you’re looking to increase efficiency in your females or you want to market bulls and females from your calf crop for a significant premium, make sure your invoice says you bought Lot 28.
Whistle fronted, attractive, brockle faced bull in Lot 29. His mother is a half sister to the Missing Link Donor 0714. The 631 cow is incredibly stout for an Angus and notice the power in his maternal brother that sold in 2022. We try to breed our cattle to not just be good terminal sires for our customers, but also give them a value added opportunity to produce some of their own breeding cattle to market for a premium or retain in their herd. Lot 36 screams female maker. From his rib shape to his smooth joints, flexible structure, and easy keeping build, this is what we’d like to have a pasture full of baldy females like. Lot 36 has a top end On The Mark mother whose first calf sired by 702 is a coming 3 year old and as impressive as you could ask for.
This creature has the big bones, big muscles, and the longest neck! If you have some nice Angus based females and you want to add a little flare to your calf crop, you found your bull. It is not a typo; Loaded Destiny is bred similar to Loaded Up Dolly but they are out of different cows. We have found Loaded Destiny to breed a little more bone and sometimes be more expressive muscled while maintaining an attractive, tight neck. Another proven mating and similar built bull to Lot 37. This bull ends up on the wrong side of some scuffles with the group at times and his condition shows it. The 207 Northern Improvement cow could arguably be one of the most consistent cows we have owned. With the extra condition this bull should have carried paired with his picturesque outline, this bull would have been in the picture pen like we expected him to be when he was a calf. Look for him to put on weight after the sale.
This is the first calf to sell out of the 75 bull who was one of the top sires we sold in the 2021 sale. We have continued to breed to 75 and you’ll see more of his offspring in the coming sales and likely offspring out of some of his daughters we will be retaining. This is a bull that doesn’t blow you away from the side, but he also doesn’t do anything wrong. For the commercial buyer looking for a problem free bull to add a little heterosis to their herd with some Simmental influence, this is a good option. The leadoff bull for the Angus division this year is as much of an attention grabber as we likely have ever offered. This bull is so versatile in his build that he could fit a variety of breeders for very separate purposes. This is a toss the EPD’s in the trash type of bull because you don’t need a set of numbers to tell you the performance on this bull is as good as any. His Y102 grandmother has produced our top performance cattle nearly every year and this is a no doubt, put your calf crop at the top of the coffee shop gossip type of bull. Here’s where it gets interesting. Performance cattle don’t need to be bad looking, but only making breeding decisions by staring at EPD’s has put a portion of this breed in that position. Lot 40 is dense boned, perfect hipped, great haired, and has the neck like the show heifers that command 5-6 figures. His structure is loose, relaxed, but confident and correct. He hits you with a look from the profile that says this dude shouldn’t be a Purebred Angus. You’re writing the check so use him however you want, but this bull has some serious potential for influencing future generations.

This is the type of bull that we strive to produce when making nearly all of our breeding decisions. This bull is built very similar to Lot 16 from the 2023 sale that we sold 1/2 interest in and we’re going to do the same with Lot 41. Both bulls are easy fleshing, bold centered, belly dragging wagons. Lot 41 is perfect hipped which hinges into a topline that balances the right amount of strength and relaxation. He’s not wild necked like some bulls in the offering but his neck sits high in his shoulder, he’s clean in his throat latch, and neat headed. When Lot 41 moves, he drives forward and doesn’t waddle outside of his skeleton like many big middled bulls. They called 2023 the year of efficiency for many companies. This is undoubtedly the highest quality, deepest set of Angus bulls we have ever offered and may ever have the privilege to offer. Byron Brock bought the best built calving ease bull we had ever raised out of the 2021 sale. Lot 46 rivals that bull and Byron’s bull wasn’t even a Purebred Angus like what is being offered here. To have a first calf heifer lay down and spit out this bull like he’s a deer and then he develops this type of muscle expression in his quarter and stifle is almost unbelievable. This bull is dead level hipped, up-headed, and carries more body and performance than you’re supposed to find in a calving ease bull. His 924 Refresh mother is as beautiful of an Angus cow as we could draw. She was the result of an embryo mating out of the great Missing Link Donor 0714. This bull has everything we could want behind him, but even we didn’t believe he’d come out built this good. This is a first calf crop, multi-generation changing type bull that we plan to use heavily in our program. The only thing left to decide is who gets to load him in their trailer.
2022 must have been the year of the calving ease bulls for us when all of these calves were born. Lot 47 would have been the highlight of the calving ease group in most years and he should have been pictured. He’ll make you do a double take when you catch him posing. Look for this bull to clean up the necks and chest of Hereford females while breeding tremendous muscle shape. He could also make a really intriguing set of calves on some commercial black or red cows. The options are plentiful with Lot 53.

This is a really square built, big legged, stout boned Purebred Charolais bull. He’s deep sided, rugged in his makeup, and extremely flexible. These Charolais bulls are some of the youngest in the sale and they continue to blow apart leading up to and after sale day. Lot 54 is going to be an impressive specimen as a two year old bull and one of our favorite Purebred Charolais we have sold.

If Lot 52 is an NFL Linebacker, Lot 55 is an NBA small forward. This bull is the definition of athletic. He’s got the big frame, he’s long, stout boned, and lean. This bull can cover country like Giannis Antetokounmpo covering a passing lane. Mark Lot 55 for a high end performance sire in operations that sell their calves by the pound.

Lot 56 brings diversity to buyers through his color pattern and breeding. This bull could be mated on nearly any color of female to produce those premium grabbing white faced cattle. The color of his offspring will oftentimes follow the cow whether he is mated to black, red, or white cows. He’s 1/4 Simmental, almost 1/4 Charolais, and nearly 1/2 Angus. His breed makeup is intriguing but his build is what really draws us in. This is going to be a big bellied, wide bodied bull with an attractive look on a flexible skeleton. He adds value to programs raising the next generation of breeding stock, terminal operations, or breeders needing to add function to club calf females without sacrificing power.
Generations Strong rasing good quality show cattle and seedstock since 1897. The Bixler Ranch was homesteaded in 1897 approximately 6 miles northwest of Waynoka. In 1925, George Bixler purchased his first registered Hereford cows driving them on horseback twenty miles from east of Dacoma. George's son, Ray, continued expanding the registered Hereford herd selling bulls throughout Northwest Oklahoma. In 1978, Stan, Ray's son, brought the first black cows into the breeding program starting the use of European breeds to stay in stride with the trends of the cattle industry. Clark, Stan's youngest son, is leaving his mark by continuing the decades of progressive breeding to keep pace with the demands of the cattle industry. Ray - 2nd generation

Sire: tonto (sacred ground x monopoly) Dam: DONOR 330 (Bullicious x About Time)

This is one of the more unique bulls we have sold. He’s backed by the 11 year old Donor 330 who has been like a slot machine lately when mated to club calf bulls. She raised Lot 58 from the 2022 sale along with a full sister that was campaigned successfully. She produced a really stout Red Rocky calf that was shown by the Holder family in Texas. Among others in the meantime, she has also produced Lot 57 here who we named Power Strip. For a club calf bred bull, we love how flexible and soft he is at the ground. His muscle shape is undeniable and he offers a very easy keeping build. He’s cocky necked and hits you right from every angle. The thing that consistently gets overlooked in the club calf industry is the maternal aspect of these sires and Lot 57 could pass on some of the best maternal traits in the industry. His mother is a great milker consistently raising a calf in the best condition of any that season. She has great feet and her structure after 11 years would make you guess she’s a 5 year old cow. We certainly think this bull has semen selling potential, especially since we collected him and have already bred him to our own cows. This bull may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those certain tea drinkers, he’s pretty special.

Maternal sib to the Paint It Red sire that Ira Smith purchased 1/2 interest from in the 2022 sale. That bull is producing some elite, unique Red Angus cattle for both of our programs. Study the video of this Lot 58 Comanche son and you’ll see a bull with a running gear you’d like to put in them all, the length of body you want in your calves, and a fault free design. From a commercial standpoint, this bull can bring the 3-way cross heterosis value and pounds to your program while keeping that calf crop looking predominantly Red Angus. Buyer’s will be able to tell your calf crop has a little something “extra” in them besides Red Angus and you’ll be able to capture that premium. visit www.bixlerranch.com for videos

This bull has a list of elite full and maternal siblings that could run a mile long. We’ve sold full sibs males to Lot 59 but a full sib female has never left the operation. As noted in previous sales, the females from this mating are some of the first that anyone would pick from our herd. The males could have all made steers but we felt they had a better purpose. Lot 59 is strong topped, stout legged, and tight necked. This bull would work incredibly well on club calf females to make show cattle or Angus based cows to make souped up white faced cattle. A full brother to Lot 59 sold for $11,500 last fall in Kris Black’s Cream of the Crop Bull Sale. The dam of Lot 59, Donor 567, is the most unique cow we own and raises some of the best cattle in every calf crop regardless of how she is mated. If you want proven, consistent genetics and the body to make you excited to see your next calf crop, look no further.

Black & Black Baldy Commercial Pairs
Spring 2020
10 coming 4 year old cows with their 3rd calf at side. Calves sired by Hereford and Red Angus bulls. Oldest of the calves will be 60 days old!
These females originated in the north but have been in Oklahoma since they were weaned heifer calves. The disposition on these cows is second to none. They are broke to a pickup or will follow a person with a bucket. They can all be sorted individually on foot. With this being their 3rd calf, they've already been culled for attitudes, milking, and breeding back quickly which you don't always get when buying first calf heifers. This is as problem free of a set of young cows as you will find. There are many baldy calves in this set and you might want to consider keeping some of them for yourself!
